Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 puts you into the shoes of some of humanity’s greatest warriors 40,000 years into the future. The grim dark universe is filled with horrors trying to wipe humans out of existence, and you’ll soon be able to push back against the grim dark tide.
The game is set in a horrific Tyranid invasion where you’ll be shooting and ripping apart hundreds of the Xenos at a time. The official release date for Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is September 9, 2024. However, you can play early with certain editions and pre-load the game ahead of launch, but when and where you can do this all depends on the version of the game you’ve pre-ordered and the device you want to play it on. Thankfully, Saber Interactive has given us a comprehensive set of instructions as to when you can pre-load and then play with each edition.
When can you pre-load Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2?
You can pre-load Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 from late August 2024. It all depends on the edition of the game that you’ve pre-ordered. I’ve outlined each edition and when you can pre-load it below.
- Xbox Series X/S: Pre-load is available at the time of this article’s publication. Pre-ordering any version of the game will allow you to pre-load it. However, the game won’t unlock until September 5, 2024, for those who pre-ordered the Gold and Ultra editions. Those who pre-order the Standard edition won’t be able to play until launch on September 9, 2024.
- PS5: You can pre-load the game from 11 AM UTC on September 3, 2024, if you’ve pre-ordered the Gold or Ultra edition so that you can start playing with your early access as soon as possible. If you’ve pre-ordered the Standard edition, you won’t be able to pre-load until 4 PM UTC on September 7, 2024. This means you’ve got everything you need to start playing on launch day.
- PC: Unfortunately, there is no pre-loading on PC. You’ve got to wait until launch day to download and play.
