If you're short of packs to open and want to earn more of them in EA FC 25, the Early Access Challenge 1 SBC might just be your best option.

The latest fodder challenge is pretty easy to complete, as it comes with just one task. If you're lucky enough to pack something nice, it could benefit your squad immensely. At worst luck, you can recycle cards you don't need to try out your fate with a new pack. Let's take a look at how to complete the latest fodder challenge in Ultimate Team.

EA FC 25 Early Access Challenge 1 SBC tasks

While the Early Access Challenge 1 SBC has just one task, the conditions can make it feel very complex.

Task 1 - Early Access Challenge 1 SBC

  • Min. Nationalities in Squad: 3
  • Max. Clubs in Squad: 3
  • Min. 5 Players from the same League
  • Min. 5 Players: Rare
  • Min. Team Rating: 65
  • Min. Squad Total Chemistry Points: 25

The Fran Navarro Squad Foundations SBC is now live in EA FC 25, and you can get an immediate upgrade for your offensive line at a very reasonable price.

Navarro becomes the first player from the Portuguese league to get a promo item. All players have equal chance of getting the card as he's part of a special challenge. Let's take a look at how you can unlock the card, and if he's worth your fodder.

EA FC 25 Fran Navarro Squad Foundations SBC tasks

The Fran Navarro Squad Foundations SBC is relatively beginner friendly compared to the recent releases. It has two tasks, and the conditions are pretty reasonable as well.

Task 1 - Spain

  • Min. 1 Players from: Spain
  • Min. Team Rating: 82

Task 2 - 84-Rated Squad

  • Min. Team Rating: 84

EA FC 25 Fran Navarro Squad Foundations SBC solutions

Here's a set of solutions you can use to complete the Fran Navarro Squad Foundations SBC in EA FC 25.

Task 1 - Spain

  • Joao Mario (80)
  • Smalling (82)
  • Ladd (80)
  • Bachmann (82)
  • Taremi (80)
  • Giacinti (82)
  • Scott (82)
  • Bonansea (82)
  • Lobotka (82)
  • Morata (83)
  • Danilo (82)

Potential Cost: 6,500 coins

Task 2 - 84-Rated Squad

  • Caruso (84)
  • Viggosdottir (94)
  • Harder (84)
  • Blundell (84)
  • Dovbyk (84)
  • Doorsoun (84)
  • Palacios (84)
  • Boattin (84)
  • Marta (84)
  • Grealish (94)
  • Clasie (79)

Potential Cost: 12,500 coins

If you have surplus fodder in your club, this SBC could be worth considering. You'll get a 85-rated ST item with 3* Skills and 3* Weak Foot. There are obvious limitations, but the item can be better than most budget striking options. It also offers the Finesse Shot, Power Shot, First Touch, and Incisive Pass playstyles.

If you're struggling in the attack, this Squad Foundations item could be cheap temporary fix.

How to perform the Moments Glitch in EA FC 25 https://www.destructoid.com/ea-fc-25-moments-glitch-how-to-get-a-100k-pack-for-free/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=ea-fc-25-moments-glitch-how-to-get-a-100k-pack-for-free https://www.destructoid.com/ea-fc-25-moments-glitch-how-to-get-a-100k-pack-for-free/#respond Sun, 22 Sep 2024 16:36:06 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=603329 An image of Moments Glitch in EA FC 25

The Moments mode might not be on top of your priority list in EA FC 25, but it can be a great way to improve your Ultimate Team squad.

By completing the Milestones moments, you can get a Jumbo Rare Players Pack, which is valued at 100,000 coins (if you bought it from the market). You'll also get enough Stars to open a Rare Players Pack from the Moments store, which is usually valued at 55,000 coins. While completing the set can be pretty tricky, an ongoing glitch and a second controller can make your task a lot easier.

EA FC 25 Moments Glitch explained

The Moments game mode is a PvE experience where you tackle the AI in custom scenarios. Each scenario has certain conditions in order to complete them and earn the rewards. Some of them can be pretty hard (the last two sets of the Moments Milestones are great examples).

However, there is an ongoing workaround that lets you simplify the process of completing any Moments you want.

  • Connect a second controller.
  • Go to Friendlies.
  • Select Couch Play.
  • Use each controller to select a side (as if you're going up against your friend).
  • Quit the match.
  • Go to Moments and start one.
  • Now, you'll be able to control your team and your opponents (without the glitch, your opponent will be controlled by the AI).

An image of Moments Milestones in EA FC 25
Image via Destructoid

Once you complete the Moments Milestones across all difficulty levels, you'll automatically get a Jumbo Rare Players Pack, along with additional packs as well. There are two Rare Players Packs as well, which can be unlocked using stars from the Moments seasonal store.

While this method reportedly works on PC, I tested it out on PS5. You'll need to have a separate profile on your console for the second controller. That allows the game to think that two separate persons are playing, allowing for the glitch to happen.

Trench Crusade Kickstarter release date & campaign details https://www.destructoid.com/trench-crusade-kickstarter-release-date-campaign-details/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=trench-crusade-kickstarter-release-date-campaign-details https://www.destructoid.com/trench-crusade-kickstarter-release-date-campaign-details/#respond Sun, 22 Sep 2024 15:28:31 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=603290 wretched from trench crusade

Trench Crusade is a skirmish-scale tabletop game with miniatures, similar to Warhammer 40K, that pulls you into an alternate timeline in which the forces of hell are ravaging the Earth. The game is coming to Kickstarter and already has a pretty large following, so any miniatures fans won't want to miss it.

In Trench Crusade, you pick up, assemble, and paint the forces fighting with the armies of hell in an alternate version of 1914, 800 years after a group of heretical templar knights opened the gates and let the forces of evil swarm out. There are six factions to choose from, a set of skirmishes and bloody campaigns to play through, and over 60 miniatures to paint with gloriously unique designs so you can both impress and terrify your opponents.

When is the start date for the Trench Crusade Kickstarter?

trench crusade war scene
Image via Factory Fortress INC

The Trench Crusade Kickstarter campaign goes live on October 29, 2024. It's worth heading to the website and signing up to be notified when it launches because there could be limited early bird pledges. These ones always offer good rewards at a lower price, but once they're gone, they're gone.

At the time of writing, I don't know when the campaign will end. Most last for 30 days, but some can go on for more or less time, depending on the creator's goal or project. You tend to see the most attention right at the beginning and then right at the end, with a bit of a pause in the middle. That's what I'd expect to see from Trench Crusade.

As a miniature tabletop game, I think it will have a 30-day campaign. It has a fairly decent Twitter following, from which content creators have been slowly releasing new details of characters for a while. There are a few other groups, such as Discord, you can join through the game's website, where you'll also be able to keep up to date with any new details about the lore as they drop.

What rewards can you get from the Trench Crusade Kickstarter?

hell knights in trench crusade
Image via Factory Fortress INC

The rewards you can get from the Trench Crusade Kickstarter campaign aren't live at the time of writing. However, they will almost certainly include any or all of the 60+ miniatures featured from across all six of the main factions.

The Kickstarter page also mentions a hardback book that's part artbook and part rulebook to help you get an idea of what your units could look like once painted, but also how to play with them. I'm sure there will be some unique rulesets in there we've never seen before, and I'm excited to see how they impact a skirmish. There will be terrain tokens and more on offer, which I believe will likely include environmental elements to the game you can use as optional extras.

It's important to note that all of these rewards are available physically and digitally. I believe this will mean you can get the files to print your own units or pick units as a reward from a pledge if that's what you want. I don't own a 3D printer, so I'd like to pick up a set of units for one or two factions because everything I've seen so far looks fantastic.

Rainbouillabaisse is a 5-star entrée in Disney Dreamlight Valley that packs a punch not only in terms of visuals but also in terms of profit potential and energy regeneration.

You can only cook Rainbouillabaisse if you have the Rift in Time DLC because it makes up part of the Eternity Isle collection, and some of the ingredients can only be found in DLC territory.

How to make Rainbouillabaisse in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Ingredients for Rainbouillabaisse in Disney Dreamlight Valley

As a 5-star meal, you’ll need five ingredients to make Rainbouillabaisse:

  • 1 Prisma Shrimp

    • Fished up from golden fishing spots in the Grove area of the Wild Tangle. If you’re struggling to find any golden fishing spots, remember to clear out all of the other fishing spots in the area to try and get one to spawn.

  • 1 of any Seafood

    • Some good choices for this are Clams, Oysters, or Scollops, which can all be found on the shore of Dazzle Beach.

  • 1 Rainbow Trout

    • Fished up from white fishing spots in Peaceful Meadow, the Forest of Valor, or The Oasis in the Glittering Dunes on Eternity Isle.

  • 1 Tomato

    • Tomatoes can be purchased ready to use from Goofy’s Stalls on Dazzle Beach or in the Wild Tangle for 33 Star Coins each.
    • If you want to grow your own and save some money, Tomato Seeds can be purchased in the same locations for 8 Star Coins. They take 25 minutes to grow and need watering twice.

  • 1 of any Vegetable

    • My favorite recipe to use when ‘any Vegetable’ is called for is Lettuce. It can be purchased ready to use for 12 Star Coins in the Peaceful Meadow. Seeds come from the same place and cost only 3 Star Coins. Lettuce takes 3 minutes to grow and needs watering once.

Whether you’re looking for energy or Star Coins, Rainbouillabaisse is an excellent meal to cook.

When consumed, Rainbouillabaisse will restore at least 4,174 energy. That’s more than enough to completely fill your energy bar regardless of your current level and give you some yellow energy to go zooming around the Valley or Eternity Isle.

Selling Rainbouillabaisse will line your pockets pretty nicely as well. Each serving sells for at least 2,087 Star Coins, which is a pretty nice profit, especially if you’ve already got most of the ingredients on hand.

Lastly, Rainbouillabaisse can be used as a decoration, and let’s face it, it’s a very pretty looking dish. To do this, drop it from your inventory and then enter the Furniture menu to place it exactly where you want it to be.

Gaming doesn’t have to be restricted to PCs and consoles, and if you’ve got a cell phone, you can take gaming everywhere with you in your pocket. Netflix Games has a large number of games available to play if you have a Netflix subscription.

These games can be downloaded directly from the App Store or Google Play, and all you need to do is log in to your Netflix account after opening the game, then you can play it free for as long as you like.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on Netflix Games

I don’t think I need to explain this too much, but it’s definitely on this list because San Andreas might be one of the best GTA games to have ever been released. Maybe I’m just nostalgic because it was one of the first games I ever completed to 100%, but if you’ve got a Netflix subscription, it’s definitely worth diving back into San Andreas on your phone or tablet.

Storyteller

If you want something cozy and relaxing to play that always serves to challenge you at times, then Storyteller can tick all of those boxes. You’re given a number of boxes to fill and objectives to complete by changing the characters around into often humorous set-ups. Storyteller is a good choice if you want something to pick up and put down rather than getting sucked into a long play session.

Stranger Things: 1984

Stranger Things: 1984 on Netflix Games

As a fan of all things retro and having previously watched all of the seasons of Stranger Things, I wholeheartedly recommend downloading Stranger Things: 1984. It has a pixelated art style that’s reminiscent of old Game Boy titles and is true to the source material of the series. Besides, as we’re heading into spooky season, what better time to head into the Upside Down?

Valiant Hearts: Coming Home

Valiant Hearts: Coming Home on Netflix Games
Image via Netflix

As soon as I played the original Valiant Hearts when it was released back in 2014, I fell in love with the art style, the story, the characters, and everything else. It cemented itself on my list of all-time favorites very easily. Coming Home is a direct sequel to Valiant Hearts, and is available on other platforms, but is free on iOS and Android if you have Netflix Games. Definitely worth experiencing if you’re looking for something to play.

Exploding Kittens

Exploding Kittens on Netflix Games

Based on the worldwide hit board game of the same name, Exploding Kittens is a card-based game with a feline (and somewhat disgusting) twist. The included cards will be familiar to anyone who has played the physical version, and you’ll need to play them right if you want to get to the end of the game without exploding.

Heads Up!

Heads Up! on Netflix Games
Image via Netflix

If you’re looking for a party game to play, then look no further than Heads Up! When the app is opened and a category is chosen, the player puts the phone on their forehead with the screen facing out, and then the rest of the players need to describe what’s on the screen. Guess right and you can flip the phone downwards to count it as a win. If you can’t guess, then flipping the phone upwards will give you a new word.

The Netflix Games version of Heads Up! contains a myriad of Netflix-themed words to be guessed, so if you watch a lot of shows on the streaming platform, you’ve definitely got an advantage.

Cats & Soup

Cats & Soup on Netflix Games
Image via Netflix

Cats & Soup is exactly as it sounds and has you collecting cats who make soup. You can name your cats, decorate their mini-rooms, and dress them up in special outfits. It’s really cute, and I’m not sure what else I can say, but if you want a relatively mindless game to play when winding down in the evening, this is perfect.

Game Dev Tycoon

Game Dev Tycoon on Netflix Games
Image via Netflix

Ever wanted to get meta and use a game to feel like you’re designing your own games? Game Dev Tycoon might just scratch that rather specific itch. You’ll need to manage finances and build up some funds to unlock new features for your developed games, eventually making your way out of your garage and into your very own office space to continue developing.

Twelve Minutes

Twelve Minutes on Netflix Games

Twelve Minutes puts you in the hot seat and trapped in a time loop, with each loop lasting (you guessed it) 12 minutes. Featuring the voices of James McAvoy and Willem Dafoe, it’s a point-and-click adventure from a top-down perspective with multiple different endings to discover along the way. There’s a lot of replayability in this one, so you’ll find it hard to get bored.

Slayaway Camp 2: Netflix and Kill

The spooky season is upon us, and there’s nothing that says “Halloween is close” more than an easy-to-play horror-themed game. In Slayaway Camp 2: Netflix and Kill, you play a killer who is out to cause carnage. There are multiple levels to complete, each with multiple stages, and you unlock new skins to keep things fresh and creepy as you progress.

Some fish in Stardew Valley can be caught in a variety of places, while others are more specific with where they spawn. Sandfish have a very particular habitat; in fact, it’s how they got their name.

Before you can go looking for Sandfish, you’ll need to unlock the Desert. To do this, you’ll need to complete the Vault Bundle at the community center (this is just a collection of monetary donations), or purchase the “Bus Repair” on the Joja Community Development Form for 40,000 Gold. It all depends on whether you’ve made the morally correct choice or sold your soul to Joja.

Where to find Sandfish in Stardew Valley

Sandfish can be caught in the pond at the Desert in Stardew Valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

Once you’ve unlocked the Desert, finding Sandfish is easy, as it’s one of only two fish that spawn in the pond located in the top right corner of the Desert. Sandfish (and the other fish, Scorpion Carp), can be fished from these waters during any season between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.

When you catch a Sandfish, you may find that the bobber in the fishing mini-game darts around the line. Sandfish are pretty pesky and can get away from you if you’re not careful. To negate the sudden movements, it’s worth using a Cork Bobber or a Trapper Bobber to increase your chances.

How to use Sandfish in Stardew Valley

The Community Center in Stardew Valley

One Sandfish is needed for the Speciality Fish Bundle at the Community Center, and they’re also on Penny’s loved gifts list. Outside of these specific uses, there are a few other things that can be done with Sandfish.

Recipes

Sandfish can be used in any recipe that calls for ‘any fish’:

Item Recipe Recipe unlock
Maki Roll 1 of any Fish
1 Seaweed
1 Rice
The Queen of Sauce Year 1, Summer 21
OR
300 Gold at the Stardrop Saloon
Quality Fertilizer 4 Sap
1 of any Fish
Farming level 9
Sashimi 1 of any Fish Linus 3-hearts

Tailoring

Sandfish can be used in the spool of a Sewing Machine to create the dyeable Fish Shirt. It can also be used as a yellow dye in the dye pots in Emily and Haley’s house.

Fish pond

You can place Sandfish into a Fish Pond, and they’ll produce Roe. If there are 10 Sandfish in a Fish Pond, you could possibly get Cactus Seeds.

The Transformers event in Squad Busters brought two new permanent characters: Optimus Prime and Elita-1. Since they are new characters, it is important to know their abilities before you try to use them. Not only that, these characters also come in various evolution stages.

To help you understand them better, here is an in-depth explanation of Optimus Prime and Elita-1 abilities in Squad Busters.

All abilities of Optimus Prime and Elita-1 in Squad Busters

https://youtu.be/vifqW2W5Erg?si=ePDMBEuI5pbujIsC

Optimus Prime

Optimus Prime is an epic character in Squad Busters who boasts boosted health and size. He has three evolution stages, and here’s how they work:

  • Baby: In this evolution, Optimus Prime basically enlarge himself into a fusion size.
  • Classic: In this evolution, Optimus Prime wields an Energon Axe to do a melee attack on the enemies.
  • Super: In Super evolution, Optimus Prime heals himself and anyone nearby after he takes damage from enemies.

Optimus Prime is available to unlock during the first week of the Transformers event in Squad Busters

Elita-1

Elita-1 is another epic character in Squad Busters that shoots a laser beam and has boosted firepower and size. She is very impressive in long range and wields a turbocharger. This character also comes under three evolution stages. Here are the details of them:

  • Baby: Just like Optimus Prime in Baby Evolution, Elita-1 also becomes huge as a fusion size.
  • Classic: In Classic Evolution, her attack speed is increased due to her Turbo ability.
  • Super: Her Turbo ability will last longer.

Elita-1 will be available to play during the second week of the Transformers event in Squad Buster.

The 10 Best Solo Card Games To Play By Yourself This Year https://www.destructoid.com/best-solo-card-games/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=best-solo-card-games https://www.destructoid.com/best-solo-card-games/#respond Sat, 21 Sep 2024 15:00:18 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=594978 single player card games

The best solo card games aren’t just for killing time. Instead, they’re a great way to experiment with exciting thematic gameplay, strategic deck building, and interesting tabletop narratives. With the ten single player card games on this list, you’ll won’t have to wait for someone else to take their turn. Instead, you can simply relax and play at your own pace.

10. Hostage Negotiator

solo card games
Image via Van Ryder Games

Hostage Negotiator is a challenging game of conversational tactics in which you’ll be up against an anonymous villain with the aim of freeing at least half of the hostages he’s taken. Each round, you’ll have to reveal a new terror card that makes that objective difficult. You’ll also have to track and continuously reduce the threat level of the hostage taker’s attitude and actions. Each conversation card you play can potentially save lives.

9. One Deck Dungeon

one deck dungeon card game
Image via Asmadi Games

If you’re a fan of the classic tabletop dungeon crawling experience, you’ll definitely want to give One Deck Dungeon a try. As you delve deeper into the dark, you’ll fight monsters, pick up items, and hopefully gather enough XP to level up your character and survive the final boss fight. While it all might sound simple enough, there are actually plenty of unique challenges within the game’s five dungeons, plus a bunch of skill and item combos that I found enjoyable to tinker with.

8. Friday

Friday card game
Image via Rio Grande Games

Friday is a wickedly challenging solo card game that’s based on the classic novel Robinson Crusoe. Your goal is to help Robinson survive the island and defeat the pirates that arrive near the end of the game. You’ll have a mix of simple fighting cards to start with, and you'll need to improve them if you want to win. In an interesting gameplay twist, you’ll soon discover that the best way to improve your deck is to avoid stepping between Robinson and the island’s hazards and instead let him take a few hits. Deliberately losing at the right time is essential to victory.

7. Sprawlopolis

sprawlopolis card game
Image via Button Shy Games

In Sprawlopolis, your aim is to build the best city possible by arranging residential, commercial, industrial, and park zones in a way that aligns with three of the game’s eighteen possible scoring parameters. These parameters represent the demands of the city’s planners. Sometimes you’ll score points for building parks in the city center. Other times you’ll be better off linking up roads to construct a highway. It’s amazing how much each game feels entirely different from the last.

6. The 7th Continent

seventh continent card game

Explore a vast landscape and lift the curse upon your character in The 7th Continent, a modern adventure card game for one to four players. The wilderness of the newly discovered continent is harsh, and before you can complete the objectives of your expedition, you’ll first need to survive. By crafting tools and finding shelter, you can continue your journey outwards and hopefully survive the threats that await you in the wild.

5. Dune Imperium: Uprising

dune imperium board game

In Dune Imperium, you’ll play as a leader of a Great House looking to conquer Arrakis and forge alliances with factions like the Fremen, the Empire, and the Bene Gesserit. You’ll start with a basic deck of cards and two agents that you can send out on missions. These missions will either increase your diplomatic standing or allow you to harvest resources like spice and solari. As you gather more persuasion, you’ll pick up more impactful cards for your deck. These will increase your power on the desert planet.

4. Palm Island

If you’re looking for a smaller, more portable, single-player card game, then Palm Island is the perfect fit. In the box, you’ll find two decks of seventeen cards each. One is for you, and the other is for a potential second player. It’s your job to gather resources on your island, recruit villagers, and score the most victory points over the course of eight rounds. The solo mode is great, and if you do end up playing with two players, you can choose between either cooperative or competitive gameplay.

3. For Northwood!

for Northwood card game
Image via Giga Mech Games

Play tricks and strategically utilize the power of your allies in For Northwood!, an enjoyable little card game in which your aim is to unite an adorable kingdom of animals. There are twenty-four different rulers to match up against, sixteen challenge scenarios to work on, and a simple yet effective difficulty scaling system. To top it all off, the art establishes the perfect atmosphere and theme.

2. Marvel Champions: The Card Game

marvel champions the card game
Image via Fantasy Flight Games

Marvel Champions is an immensely popular Living Card Game (LCG) that lets you assemble a team of superheroes and pit them against iconic villains from movies and comics. What if Black Panther and Professor X fought Loki? Or what if Peter Parker teamed up with Star-Lord to take down Dark Phoenix? The match-up possibilities in Marvel Champions feel endless. Since it's a Living Card Game, you’ll always know what’s in every expansion before you buy it. There’s no rarity system and no risk of missing out on your favorite characters.

1. Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

lord of the rings card game
Image via Fantasy Flight Games

In Lord of the Rings: The Card Game, you’ll build a unique deck of heroes, allies, attachments, and events. Then, you'll use your deck against a story encounter that takes place in Tolkien’s Middle Earth. The core game’s three scenarios occur between the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, in and around Mirkwood. However, further expansions add more iconic characters to your pool of player cards and will transport you to realms like Moria, Gondor, and even Harad. The customization options available with a full collection are near limitless, and in my experience, building the deck and thinking about thematic combinations of card effects ends up being just as fun as actually playing a scenario.

Best Classic Board Games You Must Have At Home https://www.destructoid.com/best-classic-board-games/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=best-classic-board-games https://www.destructoid.com/best-classic-board-games/#respond Sat, 21 Sep 2024 14:57:10 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=594690 classic board games

Classic board games are typically classics for a good reason, although they can be so notorious, such as Monopoly, that people scarcely want to play them anymore. However, this list not only contains brilliant classic board games but also advises on more modern renditions to make them more exciting to play if you're grown tired of them. Here are the best classic board games that still hold up today.

Risk

An image of Risk
Image: Hasbro

Risk is one of the most popular war board games and has a large competitive following to this day. For more casual audiences, Risk may come across as incredibly boring and drawn out as players refuse to attack and take risks, as it ultimately leaves you vulnerable.

However, Risk provides a very simple war gaming experience of pushing counters around the map and rolling dice over and over again, leading to minimal teach and lots of "take that!" moments swiftly followed by "you've got to be kidding me" as you roll nothing but ones.

If Risk has become too boring or "samey," then thankfully, there are countless Risk variants that make it a more established war game, such as Risk: Europe (my personal favorite) or even Risk Star Wars: Clone Wars edition) for an asymmetric two-player compatible version. Risk is a great war game that can be enjoyed by anyone who likes moving dudes on a map and rolling away.

Clue

clue classic board game
Image: Hasbro

Clue is a brilliant deduction game of investigating a manor to try and identify the who, what, and where of a murder. As players go around into different rooms, they will identify cards of other players to figure out, through deduction, the cards of the killer.

This classic stands up to today's standards pretty firmly and has a real skill level. The only real impeding element of randomness is the dice used to track players' movement through the manor, although some players ditch this mechanic and allow players to move freely between the rooms, allowing for a more streamlined and fair investigation.

If you're fed up with Clue but want something like the classic, then Deception: Murder in Hong Kong provides a card-based deduction game with secret roles and asymmetric communication for a more exciting and thoughtful rendition of Clue's system.

Monopoly

monopoly best board games for 7 year olds
Image: Hasbro

No one really likes Monopoly, do they? In a horrid irony, the game designed specifically not to be fun but to warn against the dangers of extreme capitalism and monopoly has become one of the most popular board games sold worldwide where it feels like everyone has a copy. Even though it kinda sucks.

The goal here is to slowly bleed everyone else dry of their funds until they're forced to sell everything they own - only to then slowly lose what little they have left. Monopoly can drag on for hours as the whim of the dice dictates who lands where and how much money they have to lose.

If you're not a fan of Monopoly but enjoy gaining assets and partaking in shrewd business with your friends, then Lords of Vegas and Food Chain Magnate are great substitutes. They may seem removed from the classic game of Monopoly, but they're everything people want in Monopoly that Monopoly doesn't provide.

Trivial Pursuit

trivial pursuit classic board game
Image: Hasbro

Trivial Pursuit is the classic go-to for any trivia game night due to its gargantuan presence, many editions, and many questions. Although fans of trivia games can get a lot of mileage out of Trivial Pursuit, it can grow tiresome when you start to come across the same questions.

If you haven't played Trivial Pursuit yet and want a classic trivia game, then you can't go wrong. However, there are many Trivial Pursuit-adjacent games that can be neatly summed up to your friends as "like Trivial Pursuit."

For a lighter and endlessly more fun trivia game, then Wits & Wagers is always a great game that's earned a place on many trivia fans' shelves. For something more comprehensive than Trivial Pursuit, try out Trivial Pursuit: Mastermind Edition or Outsmarted.

Yahtzee

yahtzee board game classic
Image: Hasbro

Yahtzee is one of the most popular dice games out there, likely thanks to it being so easy to recreate at home as long as you have enough spare dice. Although the dice results are random, what you do with them and how you score is completely up to you.

Endlessly replayable and always at least a bit of fun, Yahtzee remains a classic game I'd generally recommend everyone to have, thanks to its accessibility and ease of play. Perfect for setting up or closing a game night.

However, for those sick and tired of Yahtzee, you can try out a whole genre of "roll and write" games inspired by Yahtzee's core mechanic. King of Tokyo and Dinosaur Island: Rawr and Write are only a couple of examples of games using this classic formula to create something completely distinct.

Code Breaker

code breaker board game classic
Image: Point Games

Code Breaker is a lesser-known classic, but it is one nonetheless. With no luck involved, a player secretly sets a code, and the other player will need to guess it with mechanics similar to Wordle's. There is only a set number of attempts, so the player breaking the code will need to be savvy in their decision-making.

For this classic board game, there isn't anything that really beats this straightforward code-cracking gameplay, so if you think you'll enjoy it, then you can procure many games from it.

However, Turing Machine is a fantastic game that pits players against an analog computer. Players will need to keep questioning the machine to try and crack the code before anyone else. To graduate from Code Breakers for a real challenge, try out Turing Machine.

Chutes and Ladders

chutes and ladders classic board game
Image: Winning Moves

Chutes and Ladders is the classic kid's game of nothing more than random luck. There is zero skill or thinking required, which is perfect for allowing children to cry and get mad thanks to losing for no reason. Despite this, I still enjoy Chutes and Ladders to this day and have no idea why.

Due to its simple nature, Chutes and Ladders is an easy pick for younger audiences to get out and play; however, there are similar games that are much better as they are either more interactive or have some thought processes behind them.

Mousetrap is essentially Chutes and Ladders but with exciting contraptions that are a joy to activate whenever you're winning or losing. The Game of Life also has random progression but allows some choices in the way of choosing professions, buying property, and more, to make it much more fun to play repeatedly.

Battleship

battleship board game
Image: Hasbro

Battleship has such a simple premise yet provides such a tense and infuriating time. Hearing your opponent close in on your ships elicits a nightmarish feeling, and you desperately drop bombs only to keep missing.

As both players list out coordinates, all you'll know is if you've hit something or missed. From there, you'll have to work out where the rest of the ship is to bring it down. Just don't get your "g" and "j" sounds mixed up, or you'll be in for an argument.

If you've played too much of Battleship and can't stand hearing another "miss," then you can revitalize the Battleship feel with Decrypto for group play or Codenames: Duet to keep it a 1v1. They're brilliant deduction games that only excel and improve where Battleship remains simple.

Catan

catan board game
Image: Catan Studio

Catan is an incredibly popular and persevering game of settling, trading, and building. The real competition here is for space, as players will strive to settle and build toward needed resources, although they will keep getting in each other's way.

Unless Catan just isn't for you, it's hard to get tired of it. The nature of the game allows repeated plays to try out new strategies and ideas, although the dice and decks will keep tugging at your plans. If you haven't played Catan and think that expanding a small settlement and trading with your foes sounds enticing, then you have to try this next.

If Catan has grown tiresome, thankfully, there are some expansions and many scenarios to make this game feel better and/or utterly different. There isn't a great substitute for Catan that's better than trying all of the expansions and keeping it current with modern improvements and ideas.

Now that you know about these classic board games and their substitutes for the jaded, you can bring new life into these old games.

The Professor Layton games are an absolutely stunning example of the puzzle genre, with some crime-fighting thrown in for good measure. With the next installment in the series coming in 2025, let’s take a look back at the previous releases.

If you want to play all of the Professor Layton games, you’re likely wondering whether you should do it chronologically or in order of release. Well, the good news is that either option is entirely open to you. It just depends on whether you can handle some differences in gameplay.

How to play all Professor Layton games in release order

Professor Layton and the Unwound Future

Within the community, it’s commonly believed that this is the preferable way to play through the series of games. Although the story will be a bit disjointed, as the chronological order of the games is different from the release order, it can be hard to overcome gameplay differences.

Many of the later games implemented quality-of-life upgrades, which would have made the earlier games much nicer to play, so losing them can make it hard to stomach the older games.

Here’s how to play all of the Professor Layton games in order of release:

# Title Release year Platforms
1 Professor Layton and the Curious Village 2008 Nintendo DS

2 Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box 2009 Nintendo DS

How to play all Professor Layton games in chronological order

Professor Layton and the Last Specter

If you’re able to accept that gameplay might be a little inconsistent, then you can play the games in chronological order. It’s like watching the Star Wars movies in chronological order and having to accept that the older movies, while more recent in the in-universe timeline, have more dated effects.

Based on the Prime Minister’s speech during the prologue of Unwound Future, the Professor Layton games mostly take place in the 1960s, although the exact time setting for each game is unknown.

Here’s the chronological order of all Professor Layton games so far:

  1. Professor Layton and the Last Specter
  2. Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask
  3. Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy
  4. Professor Layton and the Curious Village
  5. Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box
  6. Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
  7. Professor Layton and the Unwound Future
  8. Layton Brothers: Mystery Room
  9. Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy

When is the next Professor Layton game going to be released?

Professor Layton and the New world of Steam
Image via LEVEL-5

Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is set to release on Nintendo Switch at some point during 2025. The events we've yet to see in the upcoming addition to the Layton universe take place one year after the events of Unwound Future, which would place New World of Steam as the eighth game in the chronological order of Layton games.

As we approach 2024's spooky season, Wizards of the Coast is ramping up its Secret Lairs. We've already got an entire haunted house set on the way with Duskmourn, but now there are more and more side sets to collect, like this Chucky Secret Lair Drop.

The Secret Lair x Chucky Drop is the perfect complementary set for Duskmourn. As players explore this haunted house realm within Magic: The Gathering, they'll encounter all sorts of horrors that would spook a normal person in any setting. Chucky is by far one of the most terrifying horror movie characters out there, and seeing the franchise enter MTG at this crucial point just feels so right. Each card looks incredible and will add an unsettling feeling for opponents when they see it because they know something bad is about to happen.

Every card in the Secret Lair x Chucky Drop

Below, I've listed every card in the Secret Lair x Chucky Drop. Each one, as you'd expect, features incredible artwork that's out of this world. If you're planning on crafting some new decks with all the Duskmourn cards, this is a set you should definitely be looking to loop in.

  • Chucky: A 4/3 Legendary Creature Demon Berserker. Whenever an attacking creature dies, each opponent loses 1 life and you gain 1 life. Chen Chucky enters, until your next turn, creatures your opponents control attack each combat if able and attack a player other than you if able.
  • Sorry Jack...Chucky's Back: Enchantment. Pay 2 life and 1 Black Mana: Return target creature from your graveyard to your hand.
  • Tiffany, Bride of Chucky: A 2/3 Legendary Creature, Demon Rogue with Deathtouch. Boast - Pay 1 Black Mana, and target player searches their library for a card, then shuffles and puts that card on top.
  • Friends to the End: Sorcery. Strive - This spell costs 2 more Red Mana to cast for each target beyond the first. Choose any number of target creatures you control. For each of them, create a token that's a copy of that creature, except it has haste. Exile those tokens at the beginning of the next end step.
  • Play Pals Factory: Artifact. Whenever a nontoken creature enters, if Play Pals Factory is untapped, that creature's controller creates a 1/1 colorless Myr artifact creature token.

This set goes live on the Secret Lair website on September 30, 2024, and will cost you $30 to pick up. It's worth signing up to be notified of when it goes live because of the new way that Secret Lair drops work. Instead of being printed to demand, only a limited number of each set is now ever made, so you must get your order in fast if you want to pick them up.

Every known One Piece character with the Will of D https://www.destructoid.com/every-known-one-piece-character-with-the-will-of-d/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=every-known-one-piece-character-with-the-will-of-d https://www.destructoid.com/every-known-one-piece-character-with-the-will-of-d/#respond Sat, 21 Sep 2024 14:31:32 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=599235 Red-Hair Shanks from One Piece

The exact meaning and significance of the Will of D remains one of the biggest mysteries in One Piece. Despite the lack of information about it, characters who carry the middle initial D almost always play an important role in the series' narrative and worldbuilding.

What makes the Will of D even more mysterious is its reach. The initial D is not tied to a single group but appears across diverse factions, from Marines and pirates to revolutionaries and unaffiliated individuals. So, what exactly is the Will of D, and who are the characters who carry it?

Warning: This article contains spoilers for the One Piece anime and manga.

Dr. Vegapunk in One Piece
Image via Crunchyroll

What is it exactly?

Up to the present, there is no definitive explanation as to what the seemingly very important name is. However, recent developments in both anime and manga have dropped bits of explanation to what it can be.

According to the enigmatic Imu, the hidden puppeteer controlling the World Government, D is the name of the people who once opposed the World Government. However, given how the government arduously kept the information locked up, even those who carry the name are unaware of what their name upholds. As the shadowy leader put it, they are now no more than empty shells. Naturally, Imu is not willing to reveal what it truly means.

Dr. Vegapunk is the other source. In his posthumous speech, the genius inventor laid down a number of theories and revelations, including what he thinks the name truly means. According to him, the Will of D is literally the will of those who carry the name from ancient times. Even he, however, cannot specify what that will represent. It can perhaps be a will of defiance or perhaps a will to seek freedom, though these are nothing more than my own conjectures.

Which characters have the middle initial D?

The World Government may be the so-called enemy of the D clan, but even the Marines have two members who possess the name. At least, it used to. The first one is Luffy's very own grandfather, Monkey D. Garp. Garp is known as the Hero of the Marines and currently holds the position of vice admiral. The other one is Jaguar D. Saul. However, the giant eventually abandoned his position and became a wanted fugitive. Currently, he is speculated to be at Elbaph and said to be the one who saved Ohara's books.

The Revolutionary Army holds the least number of D characters. Monkey D. Dragon, the faction's leader, is the only one who possesses the middle initial. At the very least, he is the only known revolutionary to do so.

The faction with the most number of D characters, as well as the most varied, is the pirates. At present, two of the Four Emperors possess the middle initial — Marshall D. Teech and Monkey D. Luffy. Teech is the captain of the Blackbeard Pirates, while Luffy is the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates. Other captains that have D on their names are the Pirate King Gol D. Roger, the Heart Pirates' Trafalgar D. Waterlaw, and the Rocks Pirates' notorious leader, Rocks D. Xebec. The only non-captain pirate is Portgas D. Ace, and while not a pirate herself, Portgas D. Rouge is well acquainted with them, especially since she is the husband of the Pirate King and the mother of Ace.

Princess Nefeltari D. Vivi in One Piece
Image via IMDB

Finally, there are those not among the three factions yet continue to make big impacts in their own ways. First is Alabasta Kingdom's Nefeltari family: Nefeltari D. Lily, Nefeltari D. Cobra, and Nefeltari D. Vivi. The Nefeltari family is one of the 20 monarchs who founded the World Government, yet Lily chose to return to her kingdom instead of becoming a World Noble.

The other is Ohara's lead archaeologist Clou D. Clover, and his brother. Clover, also known as Professor Clover, played an important role in unraveling the mysteries of the Void Century, especially in decoding the Ponegliffs. He is also one of Nico Robin's role models, though even Robin is unaware of Clover's real name. During his debut in Robin's flashback, Clover is only known as Professor Clover. Dr. Vegapunk reveals the archaeologist's true name in a flashback, wherein Clover seeks Vegapunk for help.

The best Monopoly editions for bleeding your family dry https://www.destructoid.com/best-monopoly-editions/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=best-monopoly-editions https://www.destructoid.com/best-monopoly-editions/#respond Sat, 21 Sep 2024 14:24:17 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=602040 best monopoly board game editions

Monopoly is a board game that, in a horrific and ironic twist, has dominated the minds of the people. So much so that over 1,500 editions of the game exist. If you're going to play Monopoly, at least make sure it's one of the better editions available.

Please note that I'll be going over more obscure and interesting variations of Monopoly, as the last thing you'll want if you're bored of classic Monopoly is classic Monopoly but with a different coat of paint. If you're after something more faithful, then search up "Monopoly" and your current favorite franchise in Google. I'm sure they've got something.

Monopoly City

monopoly cities best edition
Image: Hasbro

Starting off strong, Monopoly City is a much more "gamified" edition of Monopoly, as the center of the board has been refurbished into different grids. When players land on a space, they can build a variety of different buildings on the respective area of land in the middle of the board.

As the game progresses, players will be building up residential houses, factories, and even special projects like stadiums. Upon owning a monopoly, a player can then build skyscrapers and even towers. Hazard buildings can also crop up, which makes all residential buildings in that area redundant.

Monopoly City allows players to tangibly see their progress and build much more exciting buildings, adding real strategy to an otherwise largely luck-based game.

Monopoly Hotels

monopoly hotels best edition
Image: Hasbro

I know Monopoly Hotels doesn't use a board, but out of all the stranger and divorced Monopoly board games, I thought this one was pretty good.

In Monopoly Hotels, players will try to be the first to construct a five-story Hotel with rooms in each (without any bill cards, either). It costs to build new floors, although the rest of the game, such as sabotaging your opponent and adding rooms and celebrities to your Hotel, are done purely from a deck of cards.

A faster-paced and more interesting way to enjoy Monopoly, Monopoly Hotels takes the core principles of Monopoly and turns it into a card game with psychological warfare and you both try to bluff each other about the values of the rooms of your Hotels. Wonderful stuff.

Monopoly Gamer

monopoly gamer best edition
Image: Hasbro

Monopoly Gamer, to my initial surprise, is so much more than a reskin, although it's less of a "gamer" edition and simply is a Super Mario edition, which may be a shame to some.

In Monopoly Gamer, the game will only last around eight rounds, as every time someone passes "Go!" a boss will be brought into play. They'll get tougher as the game goes on, and upon defeating a boss, rewards are given. Coins are used instead of cash, which can be dropped onto the board for various reasons.

Each character in Monopoly Gamer has a different ability, and the winner is the player with the most points, which are accumulated from buying properties and defeating bosses, meaning a player's coin count is meaningless when it comes to deciding a victor.

Monopoly Longest Game Ever

monopoly longest game ever best edition
Image: Hasbro

Hilariously, Monopoly Longest Game Ever really leans into the franchise's reputation. Although the base game is likely the worst Monopoly game ever conceived, I can't help but find it incredibly amusing.

This edition of Monopoly comes with a board with double the spaces and only one dice. The only way to win Monopoly Longest Game Ever is by owning absolutely everything on the board. Better yet, players can forcibly purchase other players' properties by paying merely $10 more than the base price.

I feel like Monopoly Longest Game Ever is perfect for a one-off night of torture for you and your friends. Better yet, you can make it into a drinking game or have other silly challenges associated to it to turn it from a genuine slog into an experience so nightmarish and grueling it becomes hilarious with the right people.

Monopoly The Lord Of The Rings

monopoly the lord of the rings best edition
Image: Hasbro

Monopoly The Lord Of The Rings, like all good Lord of the Rings games, has the One Ring and some sort of tracker that leads to Mount Doom. As players go around the board acquiring properties and engaging in classic 21st century capitalism, they'll also be escorting the ring.

The One Ring will be held by a player at all times, offering advantages. However, the dice now has a Sauron side. Every turn that player doesn't roll the Sauron side, the Sauron tracker increases. Upon finally rolling the Sauron side, that player will need to pay money equal to the value of the space the Sauron tracker is on.

However, should the Sauron tracker reach the end (when a player manages to hold the One Ring for six consecutive turns), the game ends and a winner is decided. The pieces, especially the ring, are of great quality and games are less likely to drag on for too long thanks to the ring mechanic.

Monopoly Star Wars

monopoly star wars best edition
Image: Hasbro

Monopoly Star Wars is the only team-based Monopoly on this list, and does a great job at having a winning side and an "ultimate winner."

Firstly, the board is spherical, which is very cool. Instead of placing houses and hotels, players will instead be building a base, and will place a token of their side on the planet. The moment all the planets have a base, the game ends and the side with the most bases wins. It's that simple.

To make the game even more interesting, if you owe another player in Monopoly Star Wars, they'll take over your most valuable base. Bounty Hunter spaces can also be used to repossess enemy bases, making this edition a much quicker, yet much more strategic and tense, game of Monopoly.

Monopoly Gamer Overwatch

monopoly overwatch best edition
Image: Hasbro

Unbelievably, Monopoly Gamer Overwatch is a very interesting edition of Monopoly where combat takes center stage. Players will construct teams of three Overwatch characters to take to the board to gain points and defeat opponents.

Using a smaller board, players will duke it out to claim objectives (the spaces) for points whilst dealing damage to other players. In place of money, players now have "HP." Throughout the game, loot boxes will be dealt to players, and when the last loot box is dealt, the game will end.

With each character having their own abilities, Monopoly Gamer Overwatch allows for a surprising level of replayability, and as each game has a hard limit, it's not so daunting bringing back to the table.

Monopoly Tropical Tycoon

monopoly tropical tycoon best edition
Image: Hasbro

Monopoly Tropical Tycoon is a more premium experience, even if it is a little dated. This game is to be played with the provided interactive CD (which, depressingly, some groups may not be able to use). The CD takes players through the game, with explanations and news broadcasts that give players interesting choices to make.

There are four new different types of buildings to build in Monopoly Tropical Tycoon, making this more than "Monopoly but with old animations in the background." Also, the winning condition has changed from having the most cash, to having the most Fortune Points.

For a more immersive, involved, and strategic experience, Monopoly Tropical Tycoon is one of the best Monopoly games out there. And the CD is a great touch if you can stand the old graphics.

Monopoly The Mandalorian

monopoly the mandalorian best edition
Image: Hasbro

Strangely enough, Monopoly The Mandalorian is a very interesting edition of Monopoly that includes combat, Grogu, and villains. Oh, and the board is smaller too for those wanting more express experiences.

The Child will be moving around the board like the players, and players sharing a space will receive unique benefits. However, sooner or later one of the three Imperial villains will enter the board (Storm Trooper, Dark Trooper, and Moff Gideon). You'll need to keep The Child safe from them, as encountering them will lead to combat.

If The Child gets captures, no one will win. Conversely, upon defeating Moff Gideon, the game will end and a winner will be decided like normal. Having combat and special abilities thanks to The Child makes this version of Monopoly infinitely more interesting.

Monopoly Gamer Mario Kart

monopoly mario kart best edition
Image: Hasbro

Upon first glance, I wrote Monopoly Gamer Mario Kart off as likely another reskin, until I looked closer. This edition provides a quicker game of Monopoly that has lots of interesting and thematic additions.

Using coins, players will use their chosen racer (each with special abilities) to drift around the board and purchase tracks with their coins. Each property is worth points, which is what counts instead of cold hard coins. Upon passing "Go!" players can pay to enter a randomly selected race, which they'll then compete in.

With the powers from Mario Kart and the racing, Monopoly Gamer Mario Kart offers a strangely refreshing and infinitely more enjoyable variant of Monopoly that people of all ages can enjoy.

Now that you have lots of choice to make Monopoly much more interesting, all that's left to do is to pick your favorite and give it a go.

Every Straw Hat’s dream in One Piece, and their progress https://www.destructoid.com/every-straw-hats-dream-in-one-piece-and-their-progress/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=every-straw-hats-dream-in-one-piece-and-their-progress https://www.destructoid.com/every-straw-hats-dream-in-one-piece-and-their-progress/#respond Sat, 21 Sep 2024 14:14:19 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=602770 Straw Hat Pirates in One Piece

Pirate crews in One Piece almost always follow a certain theme, including the strongest ones. For example, Kaido's wild Animal Kingdom Priates are mostly Zoan Devil Fruit users. On the contrary, Shanks' Red-Hair Pirates has no Devil Fruit user on its roster. As for the Straw Hat Pirates, they are bonded together by friendship and individual dreams.

Each member of the Straw Hat Pirates has their individual goals, and sailing with their friends is one way to achieve that goal. Here is every Straw Hat's dream, as well as how near they are to accomplishing it.

One Piece Luffy
Image via Crunchyroll

Luffy is close to becoming the Pirate King

Luffy has always wanted to become the Pirate King, who he believes is the freest man on the planet. He also has another supposedly absurd dream. But since we are yet to know the specifics of that dream, we can only speculate how he is coming along in achieving the said dream.

There really is only one way to become the Pirate King, and that's to find the legendary treasure One Piece. To achieve that, they must find Laugh Tale, which requires the four Road Ponegliffs. The Straw Hat Pirates have not only traversed a good area of the New World, but they also have three Road Ponegliffs in possession. Luffy has also become an Emperor of the Sea and has the Straw Hat Grand Fleet at his beck and call. Taking all of these into consideration, Luffy is more than three-quarters into achieving his greatest dream.

Roronoa Zoro flying to cut King in One Piece

Zoro wants to become the strongest swordsman

Similar to Luffy, Zoro wants to reach the pinnacle. In his case, he wants to claim the title of the strongest swordsman. This goal is rooted in a promise he made to his childhood friend Kuina, who passed away before she could achieve the same dream. Achieving this dream requires him to defeat the current strongest swordsman, Dracule Mihawk.

Zoro’s greatest feat so far is defeating King, the right-hand man of an Emperor. This simply proves that Zoro deserves the title of an Emperor's right-hand man. However, defeating the right-hand man alone won't be enough for the green-haired moss ball to claim the title of strongest. He at least needs to single-handedly rival an Emperor's swordsmanship. Even though Mihawk's specific power level remains unknown, he has to defeat Shanks and St. Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro.

Nami crying with Straw Hat One Piece
Image via IMDB

Nami's goal is to draw a map of the whole world

Nami's dream is a bit tricky to achieve. She wants to draw a map of the entire world. Since she's a very capable navigator, that doesn't seem impossible. However, even after the Straw Hats have conquered the Grand Line, that will not necessitate accomplishing Nami's dream. After all, they have only traversed one of the many paths to Laugh Tale. As such, Nami will have to cross the Grand Line multiple times to accomplish her dream. With that in mind, she's not even halfway done!

Usopp in One Piece
Image via IMDB

Usopp's simple dream is to be a brave warrior of the sea

Usopp's character quirk has always been being a coward. Prior to the time skip, he was the first to run away and cower in the face of danger, though he always ended up standing his ground. Inspired by his pirate father, Usopp aims to be a brave warrior of the sea.

Interestingly enough, it can be argued that Usopp already more than deserves the title. He, after all, has already helped trample multiple corrupt kingdoms and Warlords. He is also one of the key players in taking down the Kaido-Big Mom alliance. Perhaps the only missing part of his track record is being the Pirate King's trusted sharpshooter.

Young Sanji and Zeff in One Piece
Image via IMDB

Sanji wants to find the All Blue

Sanji's dream is one the trickiest to track. The Straw Hats' cook wishes to find the mythical All Blue — a sea where all fishes from four seas are said to be found. All Blue's existence in itself is already questionable, so Sanji's progress makes it almost impossible. What can be done, however, is a process of elimination. Since the Straw Hat Pirates have almost circumnavigated the globe, then the All Blue must be somewhere they haven't gone through yet.

There is also the possibility that All Blue is a place that is yet to exist. Dr. Vegapunk stated that the world of One Piece is already sinking. Once that happens, then the point where all four seas meet may be where the All Blue will be. If that is the case, then Sanji's dream will have to wait until Imu abuses the use of Uranus or until the world naturally sinks.

Chopper wearing a Samurai armor in One Piece
Image via IMDB

Chopper aims to cure all diseases

Chopper's tragic past consists of his only father figure, Dr. Hiriluk, an incurable disease, and a poisonous mushroom. As such, Chopper's dream is to be a doctor that can cure all diseases. Given the evolving nature of diseases, it is difficult to gauge Chopper's progress. One possible sign that he may have already achieved his dream is conquering every disease the Sick-Sick Fruit can throw at him. Is he already capable of doing that? Probably, since he was already able to concoct a cure for Queen's Ice Oni in a matter of hours.

Jaguar D. Saul holding young Nico Robin in One Piece
Image via Crunchyroll

Robin wants to know the true history of the world

Nico Robin’s dream is arguably the most intertwined with the broader mysteries of the One Piece world. Her goal is to uncover the true history of the world by piecing together the information on the Ponegliffs and finding the Rio Ponegliff, which reveals the Void Century’s lost knowledge.

Robin has already seen and deciphered a great number of Ponegliffs. However, her dream may be completed even without finding all nine Rio Ponegliffs. What was thought to have been destroyed during Ohara's Buster Call turned out to have been salvaged by the Giants. Since the Straw Hats are now heading to Elbaph, Robin's dream may be accomplished in the next arc.

Franky doing the super pose in One Piece
Image via IMDB

Franky always wanted his ship to travel the world

Franky’s dream to build the greatest ship in the world is the culmination of his life’s work as a shipwright. After meeting the Straw Hats and becoming their shipwright, he constructed the Thousand Sunny, the ship destined to carry them to the end of the Grand Line. However, his dream ship will only be complete after reaching Laugh Tale. That said, Franky's dream should be achieved at the same time as Luffy's.

Brook and Laboon in One Piece
Image via IMDB

Brook just wants to meet an old friend

Perhaps the one with the saddest dream is the Straw Hats' resident musician. Brook has already lived a lifetime of piracy, though with a single regret — not fulfilling their promise to Laboon. As such, Brook's dream is to finally fulfill that promise. That long-awaited reunion is already bound to happen — kind of. The Straw Hats just need to reach Laugh Tale and then reach Grand Line once more. Easy, right?

Angry Jimbei in One Piece
Image via IMDB

Jinbe does not want discrimination between man and Fish-Man

Jinbe hasn't specifically stated what his dream is. He seems to have joined the Straw Hat Pirates for himself. However, he has always championed an ideal — the harmony between humans and Fish-Men. Ever since Fisher Tiger's death, Jinbe has put it upon himself to pursue that goal. In fact, that's the reason he accepted the position of Warlord, as well as why he joined the Big Mom Pirates.

Achieving that ideal, however, isn't as simple as reaching Laugh Tale. Even after Luffy becomes the Pirate King and Jinbe becomes the Pirate King's helmsman, it doesn't necessarily mean the discrimination between the two races will cease. However, that is not to say there isn't progress. At the very least, King Nepture and the other royalty have already found human allies in Dressrosa and Alabasta's royalties. Furthermore, there's also their alliance and protection from the Straw Hat Pirates.

10 Best Cozy Switch Games https://www.destructoid.com/10-best-cozy-switch-games/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=10-best-cozy-switch-games https://www.destructoid.com/10-best-cozy-switch-games/#respond Sat, 21 Sep 2024 14:04:59 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=602870 Cozy games on Switch

I think it’s plain to see that cozy games are something of a soft spot for me. There’s nothing I love more than relaxing with friends, real or in-game, to escape the pressures of the real world and the stress I encounter every day.

What better way to unwind than relaxing in bed, or in the bath, or simply away from the computer, with a Switch in hand. Cozy isn’t restricted to big consoles and PCs, you can take the entire experience on the go.

I’ve played a lot of games which could be considered ‘cozy’ in my time, and here’s 10 of the best that I’ve found. The good news? All of them can be purchased through the Nintendo eShop, so there’s nothing stopping you from starting a play through right now.

A Little to the Left

A Little to the Left artwork
Image via Max Inferno

The concept of A Little to the Left is simple; organise household items into small spaces in order to make them fit, with the occasional interruption of a chaos causing cat. If you get a kick out of a good spring clean, or enjoy organizing the space around you, then you’ll love A Little to the Left. Some of the puzzles can be a little challenging at first, but there's a huge sense of satisfaction when you figure out where everything goes.

Unpacking

Unpacking is a cozy game about life
Image via Witch Beam

If you want a deeper look at Unpacking, check out our in-depth look at it, but here’s the TLDR:

Unpacking is about, as you might expect, unpacking. You’ve got to unpack boxes and place items in a variety of rooms in a way which makes sense. What might surprise you is the depth of the story, and the strong connection that you’ll end up having with the person whose belongings have been entrusted to you. Although you never meet them, you get to know them and their story through their household items.

Donut County

Donut County is weirdly cozy
Image via Ben Esposito

I think it’s safe to say that I’m a fan of Raccoons, so I might be a little biassed here. However, Donut County is a hole.io style game with added stories and characters to fall in love with. Although the gameplay is pretty linear, there’s a weird sense of satisfaction that comes from swallowing the items of the world in a big dark hole, and that leads to replayability.

Stardew Valley

Stardew County is a classic cozy game
Image via ConcernedApe

I think this one goes without saying, but Stardew Valley is definitely a cozy game that you need on the Switch. Wherever you are, you can take the farm with you and progress your story. Farm on the go, or connect to the TV and form connections with the villagers in Pelican Town on the big screen.

New Pokémon Snap

New Pokémon Snap
Image via Nintendo

There are no battles in New Pokémon Snap, which already puts this right up there on my own personal list of cozy Switch titles. It’s essentially a Pokémon where you take photos of the Pokémon in order to document them, and get to the bottom of weird phenomena in the area. You don’t even have to move, as you move along a sort of track that takes you where you need to go, so you can just get snap happy.

Dorfromantik

Dorfromantik is a puzzle with no end in mind
Image via Toukana Interactive

Dorfromantik is like a puzzle with no pre-determined result. All you need to do is place down individual hexagonal pieces in order to create a landscape. Connecting similar tiles together will cross off goals and unlock new tiles, allowing you to create endlessly changing worlds. This one is really good for getting mildly creative and allowing yourself to forget about the real world.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Image via Nintendo

Animal Crossing is one of the OG cozy games, and you’re never going to be short of things to do if you start a new game. Meeting new villagers is only part of the fun, and creating and designing your island is endlessly satisfying. There’s a whole community of people willing to share their items, open their island for visits, and even allow you to come shopping.

Tavern Talk

Tavern Talk
Image via Gentle Troll Entertainment

Tavern Talk is what happens when a game makes you the NPC. As the bartender of a fantasy tavern, you don’t move or go anywhere, but you still get to see the world change around you through the people who come to drink at the bar. Your tasks are simple - make drinks and create quests for patrons to complete, then listen to their stories.

Spirittea

Spirittea is a cozy game with a haunting twist
Image via Cheesemaster Games

Spirittea is adorable, and although it can be hard to get to grips with the enormous map to begin with, the characters you meet in your new countryside life are fun and memorable. You leave the city and begin a new life in the countryside, but things aren’t all as they seem and there are spirits in the town, which often scare the residents.

Things get more complicated as you progress, and eventually you'll need to run your own bath house for the spirits. Spirittea is like Spirited Away if it were a pixel sim, and it's one of my favorites.

Disney Dreamlight Valley

Disney Dreamlight Valley is a solid choice if you're looking for a new cozy game
Image via Gameloft

Imagine taking Animal Crossing and replacing all of the villagers with beloved Disney characters, and you’ll end up with Dreamlight Valley. To begin with, the Valley is fairly empty and overtaken by darkness. You unlock new characters as you progress, unlock new biomes, place their homes, and become closer to them to get rewards. Fishing, mining, and farming still play their role in Dreamlight Valley, and you’ll never run out of things to do.

All cards in the Secret Lair x Hatsune Miku: Electric Entourage Superdrop https://www.destructoid.com/all-cards-in-the-secret-lair-x-hatsune-miku-electric-entourage-superdrop/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=all-cards-in-the-secret-lair-x-hatsune-miku-electric-entourage-superdrop https://www.destructoid.com/all-cards-in-the-secret-lair-x-hatsune-miku-electric-entourage-superdrop/#respond Sat, 21 Sep 2024 11:14:28 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=600725 hatsune miku electric entourage

Wizards of the Coast has announced a third Hatsune Miku Secret Lair Superdrop, and it looks just as gorgeous as the first two. The Secret Lair x Hatsune Miku: Electric Entourage Superdrop launches on September 30, 2024, and it's one you won't want to miss.

The Secret Lair x Hatsune Miku: Electric Entourage Superdrop consists of five Planeswalker cards around which you could easily build a deck. While, of course, they're reskinned versions of cards we already know from Magic: The Gathering, the artwork is what we're all here for. If you want a gorgeous deck, or to simply add to your collection with some new Secret Lair cards, this is a great Superdrop to get in on because the Hatsune Miku ones have been incredibly popular in the past.

Every card in the Secret Lair x Hatsune Miku: Electric Entourage Superdrop

Below, I've listed every card in the Secret Lair x Hatsune Miku: Electric Entourage Superdrop and what their abilities are. The names are quite difficult to work out because, at the time of writing, all I have is the image above to go on. The abilities are easy, though, since the original cards are already out in the wild.

  • Miku, Voice of Power: (3) Legendary Planeswalker. +2 - Create a 1/1 green Elf Druid creature token with "Tap to add 1 Green Mana." -2 - Destroy target artifact or enchantment. -6 - Draw a card for each green creature you control. Miku, Voice of Power can be your commander.
  • KAITO, Mysterious Mayhem: (5) Legendary Planeswalker. +1 - Scry 1, then draw a card. -2 - Return target creature to its owner's hand. -8 - You get an emblem with "Whenever an opponent casts his or her first spell each turn, counter that spell."
  • Miku, Divine Diva: (4) Legendary Planeswalker. +2 - You gain 1 life for each creature you control. -2 - Create three 1/1 white soldier creature tokens. -5 - Destroy all other permanents except for lands and tokens.
  • Luka, Traveling Sound: (3) Legendary Planeswalker. +1 - Search your library for a swamp card, reveal it, and put it into your hand. Then shuffle your library. -3 - Target creature gets +X/+X or -X/-X until end of your turn, where X is the number of swamps you control. -6 - You get an embelm with "Swamsp you control have 'Tap to add four Black Mana to your energy pool'."
  • Rin & Len, Harmony Incarnate: (5) Legendary Planeswalker. +1 - Draw a card, then discard a card. +1 - Target creature gets +1/+0 and gains first strike and trample until end of turn. -8 - Draw four cards. When you do, this card deals damage to any target equal to the number of cards in your hand.

Note that Wizards of the Coast has changed how Secret Lair Superdrops work. It used to be that you could pre-order at any point during a certain window of time before the Superdrop was closed forever. Those orders were then printed to demand and shipped out.

However, a new system, which Magic: The Gathering players really aren't fans of, now sees a set number of each Superdrop printed. You'll need to wait in a queue on the Secret Lair website to put in your order, but a bot or scalper could get in ahead of you and take all the cards for themselves.

Sign up for alerts if you want to get these cards because I guarantee they'll sell out quickly. The only way to ensure you get a pack is by being available on September 30, 2024, and at the Secret Lair website's disposal for at least an hour.

In Jujutsu Piece, money is essentially the primary source of currency you'll need to accrue to progress. Money is used to buy new weapons and skillsets, and most importantly to roll for new fruits and skillsets. Here is how to get Money fast in Jujutsu Piece on Roblox and the best way to farm it.

Best way to farm Money in Jujutsu Piece

Best way to farm Money in Jujutsu Piece

The best way to farm Money fast in Jujutsu Piece is to repeatedly kill the highest level boss that you can successfully face. This is true all the way up to about Level 450, where you can easily and quickly kill the Claws Sorceror boss from the third island, Training Village. This rewards you with the highest amount of Money per kill, making it worth farming on repeat once you get that far.

Of course, you're going to want to farm Money before you get that high of Level, so here are the bosses you should farm up to that point:

  • Before Level 50 - Just level, don't farm Money.
  • Level 50-124 - The Puncher (First Island, Jujutsu High)
  • Level 125-174 - Buppy (Second Island, Windmill Village)
  • Level 175-224 - Blast Master (Second Island, Windmill Village)
  • Level 225-274 - Smokey Controller (Second Island, Windmill Village)
  • Level 275-299 - Kento Student (Third Island, Training Village)
  • Level 300-324 - Strawdoll Student (Third Island, Training Village)
  • Level 325-374 - Kamo Member (Third Island, Training Village)
  • Level 375-424 - Deaf Sorceror (Third Island, Training Village)
  • Level 425+ - Claws Sorceror (Third Island, Training Village)

Once you reach Level 450+ you can easily farm the Claws Sorceror quickly, often outpacing the amount of Money you can farm on even higher level bosses. However, if you want to farm decent Money while also leveling efficiently, you can still farm some of the higher level bosses such as the Magma Queen, Light King, or even the Blood Master or Muscular Sorceror once you reach Level 1000.

While EA FC 25 players on Xbox consoles continue to be impacted negatively while trying to access the trial, EA Sports has figured out a temporary workaround.

Those with an Xbox Game Pass subscription are entitled to play up to ten hours of the game at no additional cost. These benefits are available to all users on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Unfortunately, many users have been unable to to play, as the trial version gives out an error message about it being unavailable. While EA Sports continues to work on the issue, they have also advised a workaround for those affected by the glitch.

How to play EA FC 25 EA Play trial on Xbox

EA Sports have officially posted the latest workaround on their communications channel, and it should work if executed correctly.

https://twitter.com/EASFCDirect/status/1837281100680548598

  • Go to the store page.
  • Search EA FC 25.
  • Select the Free Trial version.
  • Launch Xbox Dashboard.
  • Go to Settings
  • Enter Network Settings.
  • Go Offline
  • Return to the game.
  • You'll encounter an in-game network message. Press A to proceed.
  • Launch Xbox Dashboard.
  • Enter Settings, and go to Network Settings.
  • Go Online.
  • Return to the game.

If done correctly, you should be getting a 'Welcome to the Club' message, which also means that the trial is working fine. Do note that you'll need an EA Play membership, and this problem only persists for those who don't own the Ultimate Edition. If you have that, there shouldn't be any problem trying to play the game on your Xbox consoles.

Satoru Gojo's Limitless is one of the most renowned techniques in the Jujutsu Kaisen series, giving him the power to manipulate space. You'll have the chance to harness this ability in Jujutsu Piece, a game that blends the worlds of JJK and One Piece.

So, if you want a taste of Gojo's unique skill, here's how to get Limitless in Roblox's Jujutsu Piece.

How to unlock Limitless in Jujutsu Piece Roblox

To unlock Limitless in Jujutsu Piece, speak to The Dealer or The Lucky Sorceror. You'll encounter these characters in the main hub, near the Race and Clan area. Interact with The Dealer to unlock Limitless immediately, using 2,750,000 cash or 1,749 R (Robux). However, you may need to wait for it to come back in stock once the store refreshes.

Given the hefty price tag set by The Dealer, you might want to consider The Lucky Sorceror as a more cost-effective option. Engage in a conversation with him and roll for the elusive Limitless technique, which has a mere four percent chance of dropping. While the odds may not be in your favor, this route could save you some cash and reward your patience.

You'll earn cash with higher levels and after defeating the game's many bosses. Using Jujutsu Piece codes is also helpful, as they provide EXP boosts and Clan/Race Spins.

With enough money, you can place the Limitless Mastery in your Roblox Jujutsu Piece arsenal. Uncover robust attacks like Reversal Red, Lapse: Blue, Maximum Output Red, Maximum Output Blue, and Hollow Purple. You can end it all off with the formidable Unlimited Void, transporting everyone around you to a new area. Opponents will remain in a standstill position, giving you the power to unleash some deadly attacks.

If, like me, you have a wistful nostalgia for the aesthetic of the classic cartoon, Rolie Polie Olie, then I have good news for you: Astro Bot's Luna Sola level channels that early 20th century feeling something fierce. Throw in some trippy day/night mechanics and it's a lot to take in. So, let's take the hassle out of tracking down collectibles so you can bop to this Luna Sola's vibe.

Where to find every bot and puzzle piece in Luna Sola

Bot 1: The first bot is located behind a textured wall at the beginning. Take care of the Flame Spewer and break down the wall to rescue them.

Bot 2: The second bot is immediately after switching the level to night. Beat on the slime to free its hostage.

Bot 3 (Papercraft Postie): Iota from Tearaway is being held captive in a cage by a spooky ghost. After ascending the multicolored stairs, take out the enemies at the top, and pull the cord in the ground to the right. This will give you a light that reveals hidden platforms. Ascend them and toss the light at the ghost to free our paper friend.

Bot 4: After switching back to day, jump up the platforms moving vertically. The fourth bot is hiding behind the wall at the top.

Bot 5: Slide down the rail and take out the slimes that spawn on either side of the electric barrier to reveal the fifth bot.

Bot 6: Hit the light next to the rubber duckie pond to switch the level to day. This will dump the pond on Astro, but will reveal the sixth bot. Jump inside and pull the cord to reveal dynamite which is used to break the window.

Bot 7 (Knitted Kid): Sackboy is tucked in a portal in the same area as the third puzzle piece. Switch the level back to day and break through the glass on the right. Jump down and swap the level to night. Activate the correct green button to open a portal.

You'll be transported to a retro level. Follow each short path, taking care of the enemies, and hitting the switches to rotate the level. Eventually you'll come across Sackboy and a rope that leads you back to the main level.

Piece 1: When you switch to night after saving the fifth bot, you'll see a spinning disc. Pull the rope in the ground to reveal a lightbulb. This will reveal hidden blocks. Follow them across the spinning disc to the first puzzle piece.

Piece 2: After encountering the first centipede troop, use a spin attack to destroy them. Swap the level to night and ascend the ladders. The tunnel at the top will now be a hole that contains the second puzzle piece.

How to save the Japanese tourists in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-save-the-japanese-tourists-in-dead-rising-deluxe-remaster/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=how-to-save-the-japanese-tourists-in-dead-rising-deluxe-remaster https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-save-the-japanese-tourists-in-dead-rising-deluxe-remaster/#respond Fri, 20 Sep 2024 19:57:30 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=601846

If wandering around a mall filled with the undead, armed with whatever you can get your hands on, sounds like a good time, then Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is what you need to be playing. In the game, you’ll come across plenty of zombies, but also plenty of people who need your help dealing with them.

One of these scoops is the Japanese Tourists you’ll find in the mall with you. Getting them to safety can be tough if you don’t know how to do it. If you need help rescuing these two travelers, we’re here to give you all the answers you need.

Where to find the Japanese Tourists in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

Otis will call you about these two Japanese tourists on the first day at 10 PM. The pair you’re looking for can be found inside of the Sir Book-a-lot store in the Wonderland Plaza. These two men, Yuu and Shinji, are trying to get out of the store.

Unfortunately, since Frank doesn’t speak any Japanese, and they don’t speak any English, there’s a problem. They don’t trust Frank and won’t go with him to the Security Room.

How to get the Japanese Tourists to follow you in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

In order to communicate with the Japanese tourists and get them to follow you for a rescue, you’ll need to find the Japanese Conversation book. Luckily, this book can be found in the same bookstore you find the tourists in —Sir Book-a-lot.

As mentioned, the Japanese tourists are inside of the Sir Book-a-lot store, so go back to the entrance to find the book. Be aware that it can spawn in different spots, but it will most likely be behind the counter, on the shelf just to the right. It will be a yellow book and labeled clearly. Browse the shelves until you find it, then pick it up.

Screenshot by Destructoid

Be quick when locating the book, and don’t abandon the tourists once you find it. They might wander outside, and be at a much higher risk of being killed. Luckily zombies aren't as difficult to fight as the Special Forces. As soon as you find the Japanese Conversation book, head back to converse with the tourists. They’ll argue for a moment, then decide to follow you.

Feel free to dump the book when you’ve successfully gotten them to follow you, to free up an inventory slot.

All that’s left is to get them to safety. Since you can pick up this scoop while completing Out of Control, we recommend doing them together so you can take the shortcut from Wonderland Plaza to Paradise Plaza. This will make their rescue much easier.

Helldivers 2: How to best use the MLS-4X Commando – Tips and strats https://www.destructoid.com/helldivers-2-how-to-best-use-the-mls-4x-commando-tips-and-strats/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=helldivers-2-how-to-best-use-the-mls-4x-commando-tips-and-strats https://www.destructoid.com/helldivers-2-how-to-best-use-the-mls-4x-commando-tips-and-strats/#respond Fri, 20 Sep 2024 19:55:27 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=560141 Helldivers 2 Commando tips and tricks

The MLS-4X Commando is an anti-tank Stratagem in Helldivers 2 that may just replace the one you call your favorite. A laser-guided, quad-missile launcher, the Commando can chew through enemy big boys in the right hands.

The Commando is available for purchase via the Ship Management system for a mere 8,000 Requisition Points. It's a paltry sum for one of the best Stratagems you can add to your arsenal. Plus, its name is a movie reference! And as my editor will tell you with a heaving sigh, I can't get enough exhausting references from 1980s Arnold Schwarzenegger action flicks. Stick around... and learn how to best use the Commando.

How to use the MLS-4X Commando

The MLS-4X Commando is an anti-tank missile launcher. It provides its user with four missiles that, on impact, can wipe out most regular enemies. But it's more favored against armored elites, especially those of the Automaton variety.

With a 120-second cooldown timer, the disposable Commando does take longer to replenish than the EAT-17 (at 70 seconds). The latter weapon, though, only gives you two shots per drop. For the money, the Commando edges out its competition in several ways.

Helldivers 2 How to best use the MLS-4X Commando - firing at a charger
Screenshot by Destructoid

The missiles may be weaker than the EAT's rockets, but you can guide them toward enemies. To do so, hold your aiming button and line up an enemy with the blue laser beam. Once you have your target, pull the trigger and guide the missile as it flies. Keep the laser just ahead of your target if it's moving. The further away an enemy is, the harder the shot. Try and stay at a medium distance.

Following these steps, you should be able to master shooting the Commando. Though there are wrong ways to go about it.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/comments/1e4mxb6/new_weapon_the_lateral_launcher/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Against many enemies, one missile is typically all you need. The Commando can stagger most enemy types as well, giving you ample time for a follow-up shot. It can take out Bile Spewers, Brood Commanders, and Devastators with a single hard slap to the face. But you'll likely end up using it against the Heavies, such as the Bile Titan and Hulk. So, how does the Commando fare?

Commando tips for Automaton forces and Elites

The MLS-4X Commando is best used against the vile Automaton forces of Helldivers 2. With slow-moving walkers with glowing weak points and flying ships, a laser-guided missile launcher feels right at home. Ignore most flak like the Automaton Trooper and save the Commando for the real bruisers.

One-shot kills:

  • Berserker
  • Devastator

    • Aim for the shoulder or head not covered by a shield when facing a Heavy Devastator.

  • Hulks

    • Aim for the "eye" weak point to kill it with a single missile. Hitting the back vent may also destroy it in one shot.

Two-shot kills:

  • Tanks

    • Two shots to the back vent should be all you need, but hitting the turret can also cause damage.

  • Gunship

    • Striking the engine can destroy it in one shot, but it sometimes takes two.

  • Dropship

    • These can go down in two or more shots if you aim at the engine pods.

Helldivers 2 How to best use the MLS-4X Commando - taking out a hulk in one shot
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Factory Strider is a different kind of beast altogether. Its top-mounted gun can be destroyed by the Commando in two shots, which makes the weapon ideal against the walking beast. Dumping all four shots to its face seems to dish out a lot of damage, but it is somewhat inconsistent. It's recommended you hit the turret if you're at a distance or run up and fire into its belly when its Devastator bays are open.

The Commando can no longer destroy an Automaton Fabricator in one shot. One of the early selling points of the weapon was its ability to decimate a Fabricator with a single guided missile. This is no longer the case following Helldivers 2 Patch 1.001.100.

Automaton Fabricators have been reworked to have set health and armor values. Many heavy weapons with high penetration can destroy a Fabricator, but the amount of shots will differ. The Commando can blow up an Automaton Fabricator with two missiles. While it's not quite as effective against the bot-producing buildings, the missile launcher still does an admirable job.

Cannon Turrets can also be destroyed with two missiles without having to aim for the weak point, and Mortar Emplacements are gone with one shot.

Commando tips for Terminid forces and Elites

Sadly, the Commando is less consistent against the bug menace. But looking at the EAT and Railgun, that's pretty par for the course these days. Terminids do have a lot of large targets, though, making hitting your foes mostly effortless.

One-shot kills:

  • Bile Spewer
  • Nursing Spewer
  • Brood Commander
  • Hive Guard

    • Try hitting the softer points behind its shielded head.

Two or more shots:

  • Charger

    • The Charger's key weak points are always its legs after removing the armor, but with the Commando you can kill it with one to three missiles by hitting its head.

  • Bile Titan

    • The Bile Titan once more proves to be inconsistent with weak points. You can kill it by shooting it in the head with two missiles, but don't be surprised if you dump all four and still get barfed on.

  • Stalker

Helldivers 2 How to best use the MLS-4X Commando - killing a bile titan with the commando
Cool. | Screenshot by Destructoid

It's probably best not to take the Commando against Terminid Objective targets, as it can take multiple shots when a Hellbomb works better. It can destroy Bug Holes easily, though.

Flying enemies are also a no-go for the Commando. Instead, focus on the Heavies such as the Bile Titan and Chargers. You'll get enough of both if you play in Difficulty 7 and beyond.

Final thoughts

Overall, the MLS-4X Commando is an excellent Stratagem in Helldivers 2 and should be added to your armory as soon as possible. Given that it can destroy Fabricators with a single shot, the weapon is already in the top five. Naturally, it should be one of your top picks when it comes to facing Automatons.

It's useful against Terminids, but you won't get as much bang for your buck. Instead, you should still consider taking the EAT-17, as it hits harder than its younger cousin. You'll want that extra oomph when facing Bile Titans and Chargers, both of which can shrug off damage whenever they feel like it.

All armor sets in Helldivers 2, their passives, and how to get them

Here are all the currently available armor sets in Helldivers 2. Keep in mind that some are locked behind Warbonds or need to be purchased in the Superstore, while others are no longer available.

Aspects such as Armor Rating, Speed, Stamina Regen can differ among sets in the same type. In those occasions, you'll see all three aspects are balanced to compensate for any difference. Anime Spirits Tier List

There are just under 40 total Souls in Anime Spirits with the latest update, ranging in rarity including Common, Uncommon, Epic, Legendary, Mythic, and even Secret. While it's a good rule of thumb that the higher the rarity the better the Soul, there are exclusions to this rule.

With our tier list, the Souls in the S Tier are the best and are the ones you should focus on getting as they are top tier overall. Those in the A Tier are also great and can be used efficiently until you get Souls in the S Tier. Those in the B Tier are decent starting options until you're able to get Souls in the S or A tier, and those in the C Tier are simply too weak to recommend at the moment and should be replaced as soon as possible. Here is our Anime Spirits Tier List for all Souls currently in the game and their rarity:

S Tier

Helldivers 2: How to kill a Bile Titan https://www.destructoid.com/helldivers-2-how-to-kill-a-bile-titan/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=helldivers-2-how-to-kill-a-bile-titan https://www.destructoid.com/helldivers-2-how-to-kill-a-bile-titan/#respond Fri, 20 Sep 2024 19:22:57 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=470086 Helldivers 2 How to kill a Bile Titan

The Bile Titan is akin to the general of the Terminid army in Helldivers 2. It's a massive beast, towering over everything on four tall legs. There are multiple ways to kill the Bile Titan in Helldivers 2, one of which is quick. Sometimes.

The best way to kill a Bile Titan in Helldivers 2 is by turning it to mulch with a powerful Secondary Weapon or Stratagem. Weapons like the EAT-17 and Quasar Cannon do a ton of damage to the hulking monstrosity, especially if you aim at its head — the Bile Titan's primary weak point.

How to kill a Bile Titan in Helldivers 2

It's up for debate how much damage a Bile Titan must take before toppling over like a stack of lawn chairs. A couple of shots to the face with an EAT can do it, but the bug may need more before you can convince it to give up the ghost. No, you can't fire away with the Railgun until its head explodes — not anymore, that is.

As far as Stratagems go, the Bile Titan isn't a fan of the Eagle 500kg Bomb or the Orbital Railgun. The latter is a better idea if you want to go for the kill shot, but keep in mind that the Titan may shrug off the first slug. Yes, it's a bit inconsistent. My favorite methods are the 500kg Bomb and the Orbital Laser. Keep in mind that the bomb beacon must be dropped in the Bile Titan's path. You can be smart about it, though.

The best method to kill a Bile Titan with an Eagle 500kg Bomb:

  • Get the Bile Titan's attention by shooting it or entering its view
  • Allow the Titan to get close and prepare a bile spew
  • As it begins the above, drop the beacon under the Titan and run

Helldivers 2: Bile Titan weak points

The Bile Titan is a Heavy enemy and, like the Charger, is coated in a heavy carapace that acts as armor save for a couple of squishy spots. For the Titan, the soft, green belly is a smart target for you and your team to take advantage of, and here's why.

The Bile Titan has two attacks based on distance. When close, the Bile Titan will stomp on you with its massive legs. If you're out of reach, it spews a jet stream of green bile that can kill you in seconds. That's why you'll want to target its belly to stop it from firing acid.

Use weapons to inflict damage to its abdomen. The Bile Titan's belly, or its green abdomen, has its own health pool. After damaging it for long enough, you can pop the belly like a water balloon. Doing so will remove the Bile Titan's ability to spew acid. Once the belly is gone, the abdomen gets a second health pool. Depleting its health will ultimately kill the Bile Titan for good. In other words, you can use contemporary weapons to kill a titan, but you'll need to aim for its soft spot from down below. Watch out for its "feet!"

Best weapons to use on the Bile Titan in Helldivers 2

Consider using these Support Weapons to kill the Bile Titan:

  • EAT-17
  • Quasar Cannon
  • Recoilless Rifle
  • Autocannon
  • Spear
  • Commando

Against the Titan's armor, the EAT-17 Expendable Anti-Tank works well. Try it as well as the Quasar Cannon, as they dish out the most damage quickly and reliably.

The sleeper hit from this list may be the Arc Thrower. It penetrates armor and can be fired from a considerable distance. The only drawback is that it can result in friendly-fire killings or prioritize smaller fries beneath it. You'd only want to use this weapon if the Bile Titan is by itself.

Do not use:

  • Incendiary Grenade
  • Stun Grenade

Do use the Thermite Grenade, which dishes out a staggering 2,000 points of damage. You can stick the grenade to any part of the Bile Titan to harm or kill it, but I suggest aiming for its soft belly. If you can't get a quick kill, you can at least remove its long-range attack.

Best Stratagems to use on the Bile Titan in Helldivers 2

The best Stratagems for killing the Bile Titan are:

  • Eagle 500kg Bomb
  • Orbital Laser
  • Orbital Railcannon Strike
  • Orbital 380MM HE Barrage
  • Rocket Sentry
  • Autocannon Sentry
  • Patriot Exosuit

Other Stratagems that aren't listed here have reportedly worked for other players, but the ones here have been more consistent overall.

You can also take down a Bile Titan using a sentry and some good planning. A Rocket or Autocannon sentry both do work against the beast, but you'll need to drop them well outside of its acid range.

The Exosuit mech is equipped with a heavy machine gun and rocket launcher. Three to four blasts with its rockets can take down a Bile Titan with ease. If you're ever in a pinch and need some fast clearing, this glass cannon can be just what you need to turn the tide in battle.

Can you kill a Bile Titan with a Hellpod?

Killing a Bile Titan with a Hellpod isn't the best idea unless it has already taken significant damage or has exposed flesh. While the titan does take damage, if you don't kill it with that one shot you'll find yourself in acid and leg range. It's a lot to ask from a human cannonball.

What else works against the Bile Titan? Well, for one lucky Helldiver, a Charger is a potent projectile when used properly.

How to stockpile food for the Whiteout in Frostpunk 2 https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-stockpile-food-for-the-whiteout-in-frostpunk-2/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=how-to-stockpile-food-for-the-whiteout-in-frostpunk-2 https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-stockpile-food-for-the-whiteout-in-frostpunk-2/#respond Fri, 20 Sep 2024 19:19:30 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=602491 Frostpunk 2 area

During Frostpunk 2's Prologue, you must collect an overwhelming amount of food to survive the brutal Whiteout. It'll be a tough nut to crack, but fortunately, you'll have enough to get by with a suitable plan. To do this, we'll show you how to stockpile food in Frostpunk 2.

How do you stockpile food in Frostpunk 2?

When you first begin your Frostpunk 2 journey, you may have encountered a notification regarding an insufficient food stockpile. Fix it by constructing a Food District on a plant icon and a Food Stockpile Hub nearby. As long as the Demand isn't higher than the Output, you'll have resources left over for the Whiteout event.

If there aren't enough resources to build the structures, grab Prefabs from Construction Wagons and Materials from Matienence Wagons. Make sure your citizens are happy and fed, too, since you can't build anything if everyone is… well, dead.

How to survive the Whiteout in Frostpunk 2 Prologue

To survive the Prologue's Whiteout in Frostpunk 2, you must stockpile 40,000 food. I wound up eradicating my group the first time, but some tricks I discovered helped me through my second shot. That said, I strongly suggest at least having two Food Districts and two Food Stockpile Hubs.

You can also play it safe by adding more Food Districts if you have enough resources. Three Food Districts worked for me, especially after you unlocked one in the Seal Colony. The destination offers more resources than standard ones, so you may want to Frostbreak your way over there. Plus, you can earn a hidden achievement in this area with the No Lesser Evil trophy.

Starter Food Districts will likely dry up over time, and you can scrap them to gain materials for another build. Since time works against you here, you'll need to be prompt in building your following food resource.

Other options are also available to quicken the pace of production or reduce consumption. For example, you can select the Wanderer character in the center to tighten belts or increase workload with Emergency Shifts. Although it'll decrease Trust and increase diseases, it's the sacrifice you have to make to reach Frostpunk 2's 40,000 food stockpile goal.
