If you’re a Stardew Valley player on console or mobile, the long-awaited good news about the 1.6 update has arrived, and it's set to release on November 4. 

Like a baby that’s grown in the womb and is ready to be born, the release will come very close to nine months after it arrived on PC. 

This is great news, as now all players will be able to experience everything new that was added in the 1.6 update, and some of you can finally stop avoiding any and all spoilers. I tip my hat to any of you who have been avoiding any Stardew Valley guides because I’m not sure how you’ve managed it. 

This does pose a specific problem for some players who have been making the most of the Tea prices. You’ve got six weeks from the time of writing to get all of those Tea Saplings sold, or you’re going to half your profits thanks to a lovely price nerf introduced in 1.6. 

It is a shame that it has taken this long for the update to come to players on anything other than PC, and as yet there is no word from ConcernedApe as to the specific reasoning. Perhaps there never will be, and players in the comments of Ape’s tweet are simply overjoyed that they’re finally going to experience the update. 

The good news is two-fold. Firstly, thanks to the delay, there’s a guide available for everything you could possibly get stuck in with 1.6. Second, this means that ConcernedApe will be able to refocus his efforts on his next title, Haunted Chocolatier. He’s previously stated that he’s been unable to put any work on his next title due to the extra effort involved with porting Stardew to consoles and mobile.

Rainbouillabaisse is a 5-star entrée in Disney Dreamlight Valley that packs a punch not only in terms of visuals but also in terms of profit potential and energy regeneration. 

You can only cook Rainbouillabaisse if you have the Rift in Time DLC because it makes up part of the Eternity Isle collection, and some of the ingredients can only be found in DLC territory. 

How to make Rainbouillabaisse in Disney Dreamlight Valley

As a 5-star meal, you’ll need five ingredients to make Rainbouillabaisse:

• 1 Prisma Shrimp

  • Fished up from golden fishing spots in the Grove area of the Wild Tangle. If you’re struggling to find any golden fishing spots, remember to clear out all of the other fishing spots in the area to try and get one to spawn. 

• 1 of any Seafood

  • Some good choices for this are Clams, Oysters, or Scollops, which can all be found on the shore of Dazzle Beach.

• 1 Rainbow Trout

  • Fished up from white fishing spots in Peaceful Meadow, the Forest of Valor, or The Oasis in the Glittering Dunes on Eternity Isle. 

• 1 Tomato

  • Tomatoes can be purchased ready to use from Goofy’s Stalls on Dazzle Beach or in the Wild Tangle for 33 Star Coins each. 
  • If you want to grow your own and save some money, Tomato Seeds can be purchased in the same locations for 8 Star Coins. They take 25 minutes to grow and need watering twice.

• 1 of any Vegetable

  • My favorite recipe to use when ‘any Vegetable’ is called for is Lettuce. It can be purchased ready to use for 12 Star Coins in the Peaceful Meadow. Seeds come from the same place and cost only 3 Star Coins. Lettuce takes 3 minutes to grow and needs watering once.

How to use Rainbouillabaisse in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Whether you’re looking for energy or Star Coins, Rainbouillabaisse is an excellent meal to cook. 

When consumed, Rainbouillabaisse will restore at least 4,174 energy. That’s more than enough to completely fill your energy bar regardless of your current level and give you some yellow energy to go zooming around the Valley or Eternity Isle. 

Selling Rainbouillabaisse will line your pockets pretty nicely as well. Each serving sells for at least 2,087 Star Coins, which is a pretty nice profit, especially if you’ve already got most of the ingredients on hand. 

Lastly, Rainbouillabaisse can be used as a decoration, and let’s face it, it’s a very pretty looking dish. To do this, drop it from your inventory and then enter the Furniture menu to place it exactly where you want it to be.

Gaming doesn’t have to be restricted to PCs and consoles, and if you’ve got a cell phone, you can take gaming everywhere with you in your pocket. Netflix Games has a large number of games available to play if you have a Netflix subscription. 

These games can be downloaded directly from the App Store or Google Play, and all you need to do is log in to your Netflix account after opening the game, then you can play it free for as long as you like. 

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

I don’t think I need to explain this too much, but it’s definitely on this list because San Andreas might be one of the best GTA games to have ever been released. Maybe I’m just nostalgic because it was one of the first games I ever completed to 100%, but if you’ve got a Netflix subscription, it’s definitely worth diving back into San Andreas on your phone or tablet. 

Storyteller

If you want something cozy and relaxing to play that always serves to challenge you at times, then Storyteller can tick all of those boxes. You’re given a number of boxes to fill and objectives to complete by changing the characters around into often humorous set-ups. Storyteller is a good choice if you want something to pick up and put down rather than getting sucked into a long play session. 

Stranger Things: 1984

As a fan of all things retro and having previously watched all of the seasons of Stranger Things, I wholeheartedly recommend downloading Stranger Things: 1984. It has a pixelated art style that’s reminiscent of old Game Boy titles and is true to the source material of the series. Besides, as we’re heading into spooky season, what better time to head into the Upside Down?

Valiant Hearts: Coming Home

As soon as I played the original Valiant Hearts when it was released back in 2014, I fell in love with the art style, the story, the characters, and everything else. It cemented itself on my list of all-time favorites very easily. Coming Home is a direct sequel to Valiant Hearts, and is available on other platforms, but is free on iOS and Android if you have Netflix Games. Definitely worth experiencing if you’re looking for something to play. 

Exploding Kittens

Based on the worldwide hit board game of the same name, Exploding Kittens is a card-based game with a feline (and somewhat disgusting) twist. The included cards will be familiar to anyone who has played the physical version, and you’ll need to play them right if you want to get to the end of the game without exploding. 

Heads Up!

If you’re looking for a party game to play, then look no further than Heads Up! When the app is opened and a category is chosen, the player puts the phone on their forehead with the screen facing out, and then the rest of the players need to describe what’s on the screen. Guess right and you can flip the phone downwards to count it as a win. If you can’t guess, then flipping the phone upwards will give you a new word. 

The Netflix Games version of Heads Up! contains a myriad of Netflix-themed words to be guessed, so if you watch a lot of shows on the streaming platform, you’ve definitely got an advantage. 

Cats & Soup

Cats & Soup is exactly as it sounds and has you collecting cats who make soup. You can name your cats, decorate their mini-rooms, and dress them up in special outfits. It’s really cute, and I’m not sure what else I can say, but if you want a relatively mindless game to play when winding down in the evening, this is perfect. 

Game Dev Tycoon

Ever wanted to get meta and use a game to feel like you’re designing your own games? Game Dev Tycoon might just scratch that rather specific itch. You’ll need to manage finances and build up some funds to unlock new features for your developed games, eventually making your way out of your garage and into your very own office space to continue developing.

Twelve Minutes

Twelve Minutes puts you in the hot seat and trapped in a time loop, with each loop lasting (you guessed it) 12 minutes. Featuring the voices of James McAvoy and Willem Dafoe, it’s a point-and-click adventure from a top-down perspective with multiple different endings to discover along the way. There’s a lot of replayability in this one, so you’ll find it hard to get bored. 

Slayaway Camp 2: Netflix and Kill

The spooky season is upon us, and there’s nothing that says “Halloween is close” more than an easy-to-play horror-themed game. In Slayaway Camp 2: Netflix and Kill, you play a killer who is out to cause carnage. There are multiple levels to complete, each with multiple stages, and you unlock new skins to keep things fresh and creepy as you progress.

Some fish in Stardew Valley can be caught in a variety of places, while others are more specific with where they spawn. Sandfish have a very particular habitat; in fact, it’s how they got their name. 

Before you can go looking for Sandfish, you’ll need to unlock the Desert. To do this, you’ll need to complete the Vault Bundle at the community center (this is just a collection of monetary donations), or purchase the “Bus Repair” on the Joja Community Development Form for 40,000 Gold. It all depends on whether you’ve made the morally correct choice or sold your soul to Joja.

Where to find Sandfish in Stardew Valley

Once you’ve unlocked the Desert, finding Sandfish is easy, as it’s one of only two fish that spawn in the pond located in the top right corner of the Desert. Sandfish (and the other fish, Scorpion Carp), can be fished from these waters during any season between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.

When you catch a Sandfish, you may find that the bobber in the fishing mini-game darts around the line. Sandfish are pretty pesky and can get away from you if you’re not careful. To negate the sudden movements, it’s worth using a Cork Bobber or a Trapper Bobber to increase your chances. 

How to use Sandfish in Stardew Valley

One Sandfish is needed for the Speciality Fish Bundle at the Community Center, and they’re also on Penny’s loved gifts list. Outside of these specific uses, there are a few other things that can be done with Sandfish. 

Recipes

Sandfish can be used in any recipe that calls for ‘any fish’:

Tailoring

Sandfish can be used in the spool of a Sewing Machine to create the dyeable Fish Shirt. It can also be used as a yellow dye in the dye pots in Emily and Haley’s house. 

Fish pond

You can place Sandfish into a Fish Pond, and they’ll produce Roe. If there are 10 Sandfish in a Fish Pond, you could possibly get Cactus Seeds.

If you’re looking for a new and very fun game to play with friends, or you want something to give you an excuse to scream out your frustrations, then may I recommend Pico Park 2?

I know that sounds like an incredibly contradictory statement, but if you’ve ever played Pico Park 2 or the original, then you’ll probably understand my position. I love this game. It’s adorable, it makes me laugh, and it’s incredibly fun to play with up to eight friends. But I also hate it, it frustrates me like nothing else, and I have a four-year-old and a kitten, so that’s really saying something. 

I’m pretty sure that the love outweighs the hate in my relationship with Pico Park 2, because regardless of how much it frustrates me in one playing session, I always want to go back for another. The definition of insanity is doing something repeatedly and expecting a different result. I guess I must be insane, because I will always go back for more when it comes to Pico Park. 

It’s not a rage game, at least I’m pretty sure it’s not supposed to be, but can you imagine getting eight people together in a level where you’re not allowed to touch each other because doing so will kill you? How about getting eight people moving around and trying to figure out where you are in a room filled with randomly moving characters? The rage is inevitable, but so is the laughter.

Some levels prevent you from moving as long as someone else is. This isn’t so bad with two or three players, but it’s a nightmare with eight. And then you have to consider the fact the platforms are continuously pushing anyone who isn’t moving backwards towards certain death. Can you see where the frustration comes in to play here? 

Then, to add more chaos to the mix, one of the levels has everyone die if more than one person moves at once, and another lets you move only when you can’t see what you’re doing. These three levels are all part of world seven which, if you can’t tell, is not one of my favorites. 

I’ve been playing to write this, and in order to get the screenshots that accompany this article, and once again I have reached the point of rage quitting a pixel platformer puzzle game. But I don’t want that to put you off, because before you rage quit, you’ll have a ton of fun and laugh until your sides hurt. 

Pico Park is also a great test of communication skills, and a bizarrely sado-masochistic bonding experience. You know the age old relationship ‘test’ of building Ikea furniture together to see if you can get through an argument? I can only assume that whoever came up with that had never played Pico Park with their partner.

The Professor Layton games are an absolutely stunning example of the puzzle genre, with some crime-fighting thrown in for good measure. With the next installment in the series coming in 2025, let’s take a look back at the previous releases. 

If you want to play all of the Professor Layton games, you’re likely wondering whether you should do it chronologically or in order of release. Well, the good news is that either option is entirely open to you. It just depends on whether you can handle some differences in gameplay. 

How to play all Professor Layton games in release order

Within the community, it’s commonly believed that this is the preferable way to play through the series of games. Although the story will be a bit disjointed, as the chronological order of the games is different from the release order, it can be hard to overcome gameplay differences.

Many of the later games implemented quality-of-life upgrades, which would have made the earlier games much nicer to play, so losing them can make it hard to stomach the older games.

Here’s how to play all of the Professor Layton games in order of release:

How to play all Professor Layton games in chronological order

If you’re able to accept that gameplay might be a little inconsistent, then you can play the games in chronological order. It’s like watching the Star Wars movies in chronological order and having to accept that the older movies, while more recent in the in-universe timeline, have more dated effects. 

Based on the Prime Minister’s speech during the prologue of Unwound Future, the Professor Layton games mostly take place in the 1960s, although the exact time setting for each game is unknown.

Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is set to release on Nintendo Switch at some point during 2025. The events we've yet to see in the upcoming addition to the Layton universe take place one year after the events of Unwound Future, which would place New World of Steam as the eighth game in the chronological order of Layton games.

I think it’s plain to see that cozy games are something of a soft spot for me. There’s nothing I love more than relaxing with friends, real or in-game, to escape the pressures of the real world and the stress I encounter every day. 

What better way to unwind than relaxing in bed, or in the bath, or simply away from the computer, with a Switch in hand. Cozy isn’t restricted to big consoles and PCs, you can take the entire experience on the go. 

I’ve played a lot of games which could be considered ‘cozy’ in my time, and here’s 10 of the best that I’ve found. The good news? All of them can be purchased through the Nintendo eShop, so there’s nothing stopping you from starting a play through right now.

A Little to the Left

The concept of A Little to the Left is simple; organise household items into small spaces in order to make them fit, with the occasional interruption of a chaos causing cat. If you get a kick out of a good spring clean, or enjoy organizing the space around you, then you’ll love A Little to the Left. Some of the puzzles can be a little challenging at first, but there's a huge sense of satisfaction when you figure out where everything goes.

Unpacking

If you want a deeper look at Unpacking, check out our in-depth look at it, but here’s the TLDR:

Unpacking is about, as you might expect, unpacking. You’ve got to unpack boxes and place items in a variety of rooms in a way which makes sense. What might surprise you is the depth of the story, and the strong connection that you’ll end up having with the person whose belongings have been entrusted to you. Although you never meet them, you get to know them and their story through their household items. 

Donut County

I think it’s safe to say that I’m a fan of Raccoons, so I might be a little biassed here. However, Donut County is a hole.io style game with added stories and characters to fall in love with. Although the gameplay is pretty linear, there’s a weird sense of satisfaction that comes from swallowing the items of the world in a big dark hole, and that leads to replayability. 

Stardew Valley

I think this one goes without saying, but Stardew Valley is definitely a cozy game that you need on the Switch. Wherever you are, you can take the farm with you and progress your story. Farm on the go, or connect to the TV and form connections with the villagers in Pelican Town on the big screen. 

New Pokémon Snap

There are no battles in New Pokémon Snap, which already puts this right up there on my own personal list of cozy Switch titles. It’s essentially a Pokémon where you take photos of the Pokémon in order to document them, and get to the bottom of weird phenomena in the area. You don’t even have to move, as you move along a sort of track that takes you where you need to go, so you can just get snap happy.

Dorfromantik

Dorfromantik is like a puzzle with no pre-determined result. All you need to do is place down individual hexagonal pieces in order to create a landscape. Connecting similar tiles together will cross off goals and unlock new tiles, allowing you to create endlessly changing worlds. This one is really good for getting mildly creative and allowing yourself to forget about the real world.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing is one of the OG cozy games, and you’re never going to be short of things to do if you start a new game. Meeting new villagers is only part of the fun, and creating and designing your island is endlessly satisfying. There’s a whole community of people willing to share their items, open their island for visits, and even allow you to come shopping. 

Tavern Talk

Tavern Talk is what happens when a game makes you the NPC. As the bartender of a fantasy tavern, you don’t move or go anywhere, but you still get to see the world change around you through the people who come to drink at the bar. Your tasks are simple - make drinks and create quests for patrons to complete, then listen to their stories. 

Spirittea

Spirittea is adorable, and although it can be hard to get to grips with the enormous map to begin with, the characters you meet in your new countryside life are fun and memorable. You leave the city and begin a new life in the countryside, but things aren’t all as they seem and there are spirits in the town, which often scare the residents. 

Things get more complicated as you progress, and eventually you'll need to run your own bath house for the spirits. Spirittea is like Spirited Away if it were a pixel sim, and it's one of my favorites.

Disney Dreamlight Valley

Imagine taking Animal Crossing and replacing all of the villagers with beloved Disney characters, and you’ll end up with Dreamlight Valley. To begin with, the Valley is fairly empty and overtaken by darkness. You unlock new characters as you progress, unlock new biomes, place their homes, and become closer to them to get rewards. Fishing, mining, and farming still play their role in Dreamlight Valley, and you’ll never run out of things to do.

In the last 10 years, there have been a total of 15 new Pokémon games on the Nintendo Switch. These range from the age-old classic collect ‘em all games, crime solving mystery games, and even a cozy match-three freebie. 

If you’re wondering when your favorite Switch title was released, or you’re looking to complete your collection of Pokémon titles, here’s all of the Pokémon games released on Switch in order of their release. I won’t be including expansion in the list as their own entries, although I will of course mention them where they’re relevant.

Pokkén Tournament DX (2017)

Pokkén Tournament DX was the first Pokémon title to come to Switch, and challenged players to work their way up the ranks of the Ferrum League by battling with the aid of more than 20 Pokémon. A mixed 2D-3D movement fighting game from Bandai Namco, DX featured all of the fighters who were familiar to anyone who had played the original Pokkén Tournament on Wii U, plus a few new ones. 

Pokémon Quest (2018)

Pokémon Quest is a little different to the rest of the titles on this list, because of the art style and gameplay. Developed by Game Freak, Quest looks more like a Minecraft x Pokémon crossover than anything we’d ever seen before. Pokémon Quest is free to play, and you get a team of three Pokémon to adventure around Tumblecube Island with.

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee & Pikachu! (2018)

Pokémon really returned to its roots with this release, with the companion Pokémon for the title decided by which version you bought. Of course, the familiar mechanics of catching and battling Pokémon play a huge role in either version, but your Pikachu or Eevee would also grow closer to you as you played. You could even dress it up in cute costumes and change their hairstyles. 

Pokémon Sword & Shield (2019)

A year after Let’s Go, Pokémon Sword & Shield were released. Again, there was a choice to be made when purchasing your copy of this release. This time, you needed to choose between the two legendary Pokémon Zacian (the Sword Pokémon) or Zamazenta (the Shield Pokémon). 

Since the main game was released, there have been two expansion packs. The Isle of Armor was released in January 2020, and The Crown Tundra was released in October of the same year.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX (2020)

This 2020 title is a remake of a game which was originally released on Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance in the USA in 2006. The concept of Mystery Dungeon is definitely a fun one, with you playing as a Pokémon and teaming up with others in order to work your way through constantly changing dungeons. 

Which Pokémon you play as is decided through a personality quiz, although there’s always the option to change the outcome if you’re not happy with the Pokémon you were assigned.

Pokémon Café ReMix (2020)

This one isn’t solely available on the Switch, and can be played on mobile platforms as well. This is the cozy entry on this list that I mentioned earlier, and the aim of the game is to match icons, chop up ingredients, and feed visiting Pokémon their favorite meals.

Each successful meal will increase your friendship with the Pokémon who made the order, and eventually they’ll come and work for you in the café. Pokémon Café ReMix is really cute, easy to play, and another freebie. 

New Pokémon Snap (2021)

Have you ever wanted to go on a Pokémon safari and snap a bunch of photos of these pocket monsters in their natural habitats? If so, this is the game for you. This Switch game is a successor to the original Pokémon Snap, which was released on the Nintendo 64 way back in 1999. You don’t even have to move a lot of the time, with the NEO-ONE doing all of the hard work for you, making this a strangely relaxing entry on this list.

Pokémon UNITE (2021)

Travel to Aeos Island and take part in 5-on-5 battles in order to see who can gather the most points in a limited amount of time. Each Pokémon in UNITE has a type (Attacker, Speedster, All-rounder, Defender, or Supporter), and you’ll need to choose one of them to control, while the rest of the team is controlled by other players. 

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond / Shining Pearl (2021)

2021 was a good year for Pokémon fans, and Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl were a great way to round off the year. It’s a remake of the original Diamond and Pearl, which were released in 2006 on Nintendo DS, and saw us diving into the Sinnoh region to take on Team Galactic.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus (2022)

Pokémon Legends: Arceus introduces players to the Hisui region, which eventually becomes the Sinnoh region, and all of the Pokémon who live there. As the player, it’s our job to document the local wildlife and build up the first-ever Pokédex. Join up with the Galaxy Expedition Team to track down Arceus and figure out what exactly is going on with the Pokémon in the region.

Pokémon Scarlet / Violet (2022)

In the same year as Arceus, we were also blessed with Scarlet and Violet. You still have to choose between Legendary Pokémon when making your purchase, but the Pokémon you choose will eventually become a mount. 

Scarlet and Violet introduces us to a whole new generation of Pokémon, including the starters Fuecoco, Quaxly, and Sprigatito. In total, 112 new Pokémon were added when this title was released. 

There have been two expansion packs and one post-launch free update released for Scarlet and Violet:

• The Teal Mask in September 2023 (expansion)
• The Indigo Disk in December 2023 (expansion)
• Mochi Mayhem in January 2024 (free update)

Pokémon Legends: Z-A (2025)

Although this hasn't been released yet, obviously, I’m including it because we know it’s coming. Z-A will see us starting a new adventure in Lumiose City. Not too much is known about Z-A just yet, but we do have the official announcement trailer to tide us over until more information is revealed.

Some fish in Disney Dreamlight Valley can prove pretty elusive, but they all have their own specific spawning locations and conditions. If you know where to look, you can find anything, including Shrimp. 

Shrimp is a fairly basic seafood that can be used to make a myriad of different recipes, some of which are needed to complete various quests. Here’s how to find it and what you can do with it. 

Where to find Shrimp in Disney Dreamlight Valley

To find Shrimp, you’ll need to go fishing down at Dazzle Beach. Shrimp shows up mostly in blue fishing spots but can also occasionally be found in white spots as well. 

Your best bet is to fish during the day, as blue fish between 5 a.m. and 6 p.m. are guaranteed to reward you with Shrimp. Fishing in blue fishing spots on Dazzle Beach at night will get you Kingfish.

How to use Shrimp in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Shrimp can be used in the following recipes, as well as any recipe that calls for ‘any Seafood’:

Pearls may not be the most fashionable of stones these days, but they are a valuable crafting resource once you’ve purchased the Rift in Time DLC for Disney Dreamlight Valley. Finding them isn’t very straightforward, though, so here’s where you can get these oyster-made precious gems.

You’d be forgiven for thinking that to get Pearls, you’d need to find oysters. However, the oysters of Eternity Isle aren’t as attached to their creations as you may expect, because you can find them under the ground. 

Where to find Pearls in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Pearls can only be found in Ancient’s Landing on Eternity Isle. To find them, you’ll need to equip your Shovel and start digging in the grass around the area. Each dig spot has a chance to produce at least one pearl, although you may also get Star Coins, Memory Shards, or Soil. You’ll need to dig a lot of holes if you want to get a large number of Pearls. 

If you’re worried about the area being filled with holes or the effort involved in filling them in, you can use the rug trick to get rid of them:

1. Enter Furniture Mode and place a rug down over the holes you dug
2. Move the rug around to cover all of the holes

Some resources in Stardew Valley are harder to find than others, and Refined Quartz is perhaps one of the most difficult to source in the wilds of Pelican Town. However, there are some shortcuts to getting your hands on this precious item. 

If you want to get Refined Quartz, you’ll need to first go mining. Although you’re unlikely to find any Refined Quartz in the Mines, the resources you need to create it can be found there.

How to get Refined Ore in Stardew Valley

There are a few different ways to get Refined Quartz:

Furnace

The first reliable method is through the use of a Furnace, and there are two recipes that will give Refined Quartz:

• 1 Quartz + 1 Coal = 1 Refined Quartz
• 1 Fire Quartz + 1 Coal = 3 Refined Quartz

Either combination takes 1.5 in-game hours to produce the result, but with Fire Quartz giving three Refined Quartz every 1.5 hours, it’s a much more lucrative option. Quartz can be found on any floor of the Mines, and Fire Quartz can be found on any floor of the Mines lower than 80. 

Recycling Machine

Creating Refined Quartz with a Recycling Machine is arguably easier than creating it in a Furnace. There are two trash items that can be found in Garbage Cans or fished up from any water that can then be used to create Refined Quartz:

• Broken CD
• Broken Glasses

Other ways to get Refined Quartz

Outside of these two main ways, there are a few other ways to get Refined Quartz, although these are much less guaranteed:

• Can very rarely be found in the Mines when breaking large crystals
• Occasionally found in Garbage Cans after receiving the Furnace blueprints from Clint
• Can be produced by Ghostfish Fish Ponds when the population reaches 9
• A rare drop from the following Monsters in the Mines:

  • Ghosts
  • Carbon Ghosts

How to use Refined Quartz in Stardew Valley

Bundles and quests

Refined Quartz is a necessary donation for the Engineer’s Bundle in the Boiler Room (Remixed) inside the Community Center. 

In terms of quests, Refined Quartz can be requested at the Help Wanted board after you get the Furnace blueprint. The reward for completing this quest is 150 Gold and 150 Friendship points with the villager who requested the help. 

Crafting

Refined Quartz is used to build the Slime Hutch, which can be purchased for 10,000 Gold at the Carpenter’s Shop and needs the following resources to make:

• 500 Stone
• 10 Refined Quartz
• 1 Iridium Bar

It’s also used in the following crafting recipes:

Tailoring

Refined Quartz can be used in the spool of a Sewing Machine to create a dyeable Necklace Shirt. It can also be used in the dye pots at Emily and Haley’s house and it counts as a purple dye.

Once you’ve made your way through most of chapter 9 in The Plucky Squire, taken Pip through two Data Centers, rescued Violet and Thrash from their stint in solitary confinement, and got all of your stuff back, you’ll come across a new type of puzzle. 

To get through this puzzle, you’ll need to learn how to transfer items from one page to another by pressing them together. Thankfully, you get a small tutorial for this on a previous page, but you’ll need to figure out precise placement in order to solve this puzzle. 

To initially get to the puzzle, you’ll need to throw your sword at the middle button to raise and lower the platforms on either side of it. Then, fight your way to the end of the room in order to begin the main puzzle of this page.

The aim of this puzzle is to get the big block on to the hexagonal switch, which will open the yellow door. This is easier said than done, however, and you’ll need to be outside of the book to make it happen. 

Use the portal to hop out of the book and then, with the Tilt Gauntlets, close the book from the left. When you open the book again, the block will now be on the opposite page, but nowhere near in the right position.

Remaining outside of the book, tilt the right page slightly to slide the block down until it stops, then you’ll need to move on to using the Bomb Stamp to place and detonate bombs in the following order:

1. Use a bomb to press the button in the middle, lowering the lower platform
2. Use a bomb in the top hole to push the block downwards
3. Use a a bomb in the left hole to push it to the right
4. Use another bomb to press the central button, locking the block in the necessary position. 

Once you’ve done all of that, your book should look like this:

All that’s left to do now is use the Tilt Gauntlets to close the book from right to left, transferring the block onto the switch and opening the door. This will allow you to move onwards and eventually come face to face with evil Humgrump.

As you reach Boogie Beach in Chapter 7 of The Plucky Squire, you’re getting ever closer to tracking down Humgrump and facing him in an epic battle to win back the story of Jot and friends. However, you’ve still got a lot of puzzles to solve before then. 

The first puzzle which might trip you up in Chapter 7 is given to you by a Starfish, whose husband finds himself buried deep in boogie sand. If you’ve been wandering around the pages of the book for a while, don’t worry, I’m here to help. 

Where is Tumba in The Plucky Squire?

Tumba is described as a ‘round Flairmingo’ and the only clue you have to go on for his whereabouts is that he’s likely asleep under a tree. Now, up to this point in the chapter, we’ve seen a lot of trees, and there hasn’t been a chubby bird asleep under any of them. 

If you’re anything like me, you neglected to really take in everything on the title page of the chapter and this, I’m sorry to report, was a mistake. 

Tumba is indeed a very round Flairmingo, and he is very much asleep under a tree on the chapter’s title page. To get to him, you’ll need to hop out of the book and go back a few pages until you find the title page. Then, find the hidden portal on the page, which is very easy to spot once you reach the page. Hop in and speak to Tumba to wake him up. 

Once you’ve woken Tumba up and explained the situation, he’ll happily follow you off the page. This will re-do the narration that you already experienced, replacing Thrash with Tumba. Continue back to where you fought off Humgrump’s Henchmen to save the Starfish couple, and Tumba will automatically release the Starfish Husband from the terrifying boogie sand in which he is held.

After this, Tumba will accompany you the rest of the way through chapter 7. Make sure to keep an eye out for spots marked with an X on the ground, as these are all places where Tumba can help you with his digging capabilities.

Considering the fact that it’s only a 2-star meal, Smoked Peanuts and Anglerfish is one hell of a money-maker or energy provider in Disney Dreamlight Valley. One of the ingredients, however, can seem pretty elusive if you've not got luck on your side.

Before you can even think about making Smoked Peanuts and Anglerfish, you’ll need to have done a few things:

• Unlocked the Sunlit Plateau for 7,000 Dreamlight
• Unlocked the Forgotten Lands for 10,000 Dreamlight
• Befriended Remy and completed his first friendship quest, “A Restaurant Makeover”

If you’ve done all of those things, you can move on to sourcing the ingredients for Smoked Peanuts and Anglerfish.

How to make Smoked Peanuts and Anglerfish in Disney Dreamlight Valley

As a 2-star Entrée, Smoked Peanuts and Anglerfish only requires two ingredients to make:

• 1 Anglerfish

  • Caught in golden fishing spots in The Forgotten Lands. If you’re struggling to find golden fishing spots, try clearing out all of the other fishing spots in the biome and work on a circuit.

• 1 Peanuts

  • Purchased from Chez Remy for 200 Star Coins

Provided that you have both of the above-mentioned ingredients, and you’ve got some Coal in your inventory or storage, you can make Smoked Peanuts and Anglerfish at any Cooking Station. 

Should you make Smoked Peanuts and Anglerfish in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

In a word, yes. 

While catching Anglerfish might prove to be a bit of a pain, I can’t think of many other recipes in Dreamlight Valley that offer as much of a return as this one does. Whether you’re looking to make some quick Star Coins or want an energy boost, this meal is incredible for both. 

Goofy will purchase each serving of Smoked Peanuts and Anglerfish for at least 2,210 Star Coins. Because you’ve only spent 200 Star Coins on the Peanuts, this means you’ll get 2,010 Star Coins worth of profit on each serving that you sell. That’s a pretty good return on investment. 

Even at level 40, you only have a maximum of 2,000 blue energy in your bar. Smoked Peanuts and Anglerfish will provide at least 3,960 energy, which means that eating just one serving will completely fill up your blue bar and give you some yellow energy on top. 

If you’d rather have a serving of Smoked Peanuts and Anglerfish on display, you can drop it from within your inventory. Then, while in the Furniture menu, you can put it anywhere you like.

The Reaper’s Reward event, a free and limited-time event in The Sims 4, will begin on September 24. There are a lot of fun rewards up for grabs through completing quests alongside the Grim Reaper, but how does the event work?

The Reaper’s Reward event will be live for eight weeks, giving players two quests a week for six weeks, with a bonus two at the end for those who started late. This means that, in the space of those eight weeks, you’ll need to complete 12 quests to earn ‘Event Points’. These points can then unlock 13 main rewards and a few other items, which we’ll get onto in just a little bit. 

The majority of the quests have not been revealed thus far, but we do know that the first one will involve researching a dish called Ambrosia. It is said to be capable of lifting the spirits of any Sim, and as the event goes on, you’ll learn more about it and eventually learn the recipe. 

How to take part in the Reaper’s Reward event

Taking part is simple, but you’ll need to make sure you’re online and logged in to your EA account before you can start earning rewards. Once that’s done, enter Live Mode with any existing or new household and simply wait for the Grim Reaper to show up. Once he does, you’ll receive a pop-up informing you that the first two quests have begun. 

As you complete the quests, you’ll earn event points and unlock new rewards. To see how many event points each quest is worth or claim rewards, you’ll need to open the event screen by selecting the event icon, which can be found on the screen during Live Mode. 

Once claimed, rewards will be accessible through Build Mode, Create a Sim, or through your Sim’s inventory, depending on the type of reward you’ve claimed. You’ll have eight weeks to work your way through all of the quests and earn all of the rewards.

Week one

• The Grimophone (Build Mode)
• Earrings of Imminent Demise (Create a Sim)

Black Mirror, Charlie Brooker’s dark anthology series, is returning for its seventh in 2025. Netflix is sharing more details on the season as part of its Geeked Week, and they’re very exciting for long-time viewers.

Black Mirror has been a personal favorite since season one, and the series always shoots straight to the top of the “most watched” list on Netflix whenever a new season airs. Although we don’t have a confirmed release date yet, we do know a little more of what to expect, and who’s making an appearance among the cast of season 7.

Sequels, the final frontier

First and foremost, just to get this out of the way right now, "USS Callister" is indeed getting a much-hoped-for sequel episode in season 7. Although no details have been given, Brooker and the creative team behind Black Mirror have confirmed that one episode will be a direct follow-up to season 4’s opening episode.

"USS Callister" immediately became a fan-favorite, and hopes for a sequel have stirred ever since season 4 aired in 2017. 

In case you haven’t watched it (in which case you definitely should), "USS Callister" is centered around Robert Daly. He’s a gifted programmer who, out of frustration through what he feels is lack of recognition, sets up a Star Trek-esque simulation and things soon start to go wrong, in true Black Mirror style, for everyone involved. It’s worth watching, regardless of the promised sequel.

If you purchase the Rift in Time DLC for Disney Dreamlight Valley, you’ll find that there is a whole world of new resources to find and use in new crafting recipes. How to get your hands on these resources isn’t always clear, and Plastic Scrap can prove very confusing. 

There are a couple of ways to get your hands on Plastic Scrap in Disney Dreamlight Valley, and one of them can be done as soon as you step foot on Eternity Isle.

How to get Plastic Scrap in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The first way you’re going to be able to get Plastic Scrap is by fishing for it in Ancient’s Landing. Like with Seaweed in the Valley, you’ll need to fish outside of any existing fishing spots in order to find it. I've had the most luck off the pier to the west.

You’ll find one at a time, but if you take a fishing buddy with you, they’ll double the yield by dropping one extra for every one that you catch. You're also equally likely to fish up Cod, so you'll likely end up with a stockpile of those as well.

The second way to get Plastic Scrap is through removing Rubble Piles around Ancient’s Landing and The Courtyard on Eternity Isle. Small Rubble Piles will drop one Plastic Scrap each, while large ones will drop two each. 

Before you can do that, though, you’ll need to complete Merlin’s quests “Village Project: Timeless Trash” and “Village Project: Timeless Tools." Completing both of these quests will fully upgrade your Shovel, allowing you to remove any Rubble Pile you come across. 

How to use Plastic Scrap in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Plastic Scrap is used in a lot of different crafting recipes, commonly in combination with Tropical Wood, but it’s mostly important for completing the following quests:

Playing Disney Dreamlight Valley when you’re hungry can sometimes be a dangerous thing, because all of the cooked dishes that you can make both look and sound delicious. Fish Creole is one of them, and it’s pretty easy to make. 

Fish Creole is a 5-star recipe that is part of the Dreamlight Valley collection. You can make it regardless of whether you own the Rift in Time DLC.

How to make Fish Creole in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The amount of stars a meal has in Disney Dreamlight Valley directly corresponds to the number of ingredients. As such, as a 5-star entrée, Fish Creole requires five ingredients to make:

• 1 of any Fish

  • A good choice for this is Bass, as it can be caught in any water in the Valley where there aren’t ripples, and you’re able to catch a lot of them

• 1 of any Vegetable

  • My go-to choice for any recipe that requires ‘any vegetable’ is Lettuce. It only takes 3 minutes to grow, and seeds can be bought from Goofy’s Stall in Peaceful Meadow for 3 Star Coins

• 1 Garlic

  • A maximum of 10 Garlic can be foraged in the Forest of Valor at any time
  • Appears inside the Frozen Realm
  • Foraged from The Grove and The Lagoon areas of the Wild Tangle
  • Possible drop from Raccoons when fed a food that they like

• 1 Rice

  • Rice can be purchased ready to use from Goofy’s Stall in the Glade of Trust for 92 Star Coins each. Alternatively, Rice Seeds can also be purchased in the same place. They cost 35 Star Coins each, take 50 minutes to grow and need watering twice.

• 1 Tomato

  • Tomatoes can be purchased ready to use from Goofy’s Stalls in Dazzle Beach or the Wild Tangle for 33 Star Coins each. Tomato Seeds can be purchased in the same locations for 8 Star Coins each. They take 25 minutes to grow and need watering twice.

Once you’ve got all of the ingredients, you can throw them all into a Cooking Pot and get some Fish Creole.

Is Fish Creole worth making in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

When consumed, Fish Creole will restore 822 energy. While this isn’t enough to completely fill the energy bar, it is enough to allow you to keep Mining, Fishing, or whatever else you need to do. 

Goofy will purchase each serving of Fish Creole for at least 225 Star Coins, so while it’s not going to make you any big bucks, Fish Creole is still useful if there’s something you really want to buy and have a surplus of the necessary ingredients. 

You’re most likely to need to make Fish Creole to give to a villager as a gift or if they request it in Chez Remy. I've seen it come up pretty often as a request in both instances, so it's always handy to know the recipe.

Trying to keep track of all the fish in Stardew Valley can be a headache. You not only have to think about their habitat, but weather and time restrictions, and even their behavior as well. Walleye is a fairly common fish, and thankfully, there are ways to catch one. 

How to catch a Walleye in Stardew Valley

Walleyes can be fished up from various locations around Pelican Town and the map surrounding it. Regardless of which location you choose to fish in, Walleye can only be caught between 12 p.m. and 2 a.m. on rainy days during the Fall:

• The River in Pelican Town or Cindersap Forest 
• The Mountain Lake
• The pond in Cindersap Forest 
• In all of the areas already mentioned during the Winter, if a Rain Totem is used
• In the Farm pond, if you’re playing on a Riverland Farm or Forest Farm

By far, the best location to go fishing for Walleye is the pond in Cindersap Forest. Although you’ll have to wait for a rainy Fall day, you’re more likely to catch a Walleye here than in any other location. Each cast has a 32% chance to result in a Walleye. 

If you’re desperately seeking a Walleye in Spring or Summer, you can use Magic Bait to negate the seasonal, weather, and time restrictions. 

Other ways to get Walleye in Stardew Valley

There are three other ways to get Walleye in Stardew Valley, each of which has benefits. You’ll need to have some luck on your side to get Walleye in any of the following ways, though:

• Gifted by a pet cat with maximum friendship
• Found in garbage cans in Pelican Town during Fall or Winter
• Purchased at the Traveling Cart for between 315 and 1,000 Gold

How to use Walleye in Stardew Valley

Gifting and quests

Walleye doesn’t make a very good gift, with not a single villager feeling anything more than neutral about the fish. However, you will need to catch a Walleye to complete at least one Bundle at the Community Center:

• Night Fishing Bundle in the Fish Tank
• Quality Fish Bundle in the Fish Tank (Remixed)

One Walleye can also requested at the Help Wanted board during Fall or Winter. This can be for any villager, and the reward is 315 Gold and 150 Friendship points.

Recipes and crafting

Walleye isn’t specifically called for in any cooking or crafting recipes, but it can be used for the following recipes that require ‘any fish’:

Tailoring

Walleye can be used in the spool of a Sewing Machine to create a Fishing Vest, which is undyeable. However, when it comes to making dye, Walleye counts as a yellow dye when used in the dye pots at Emily and Haley’s house. 

Fish Pond

Walleye can be placed in Fish Ponds and have a 90% chance of providing 1 Roe each day. They have no additional drops, regardless of the pond's population level.

The first Need for Speed game was released way back in 1994, and the most recent was released in 2022, so it’s safe to say that there have been a lot of titles in the franchise. It’s easy to get confused or completely forget titles, so here’s the full list. 

It’s amazing to think that the first Need for Speed was released on a Sega Saturn, but it also makes me feel incredibly old. I’ve dipped in and out of the franchise over the years, and the games never fail to keep me entertained. There was even a Need for Speed movie in 2014, but that doesn’t count in this context. 

Every Need for Speed game and when it was released

For a long time, there was a new Need for Speed title (or a couple) every year, with that pattern only slowing down after the release of Rivals in 2013. With that said, here’s all of the Need for Speed games in order of release, right from the very beginning:

In July 2024, Need for Speed Mobile released in China, but it hasn't released for the rest of the world just yet. There are rumors that the game will release on both iOS and Android towards the end of the year, but there is no confirmation of this from EA at the time of writing.

The Plucky Squire is filled with puzzles to solve, some of which are definitely more complex than they first appear to be. In Chapter 5, you’ll be tasked with tracking down some errant pigs, and they’re definitely awkward swine. 

As soon as you step foot in Artia, you’ll be approached by Violet’s Mum. She’ll first do what all mothers do and comment on her daughter's appearance, then send you off to help Uncle Umber with his pig problem. 

There are six pigs that you need to return, and a bonus overly large pig with the ironic name of Tiny. Completing this puzzle will allow you to not only move on with the story, but Uncle Umber will also reward you with an Art Scroll for your efforts.

How to unlock the Tilt Gauntlets in The Plucky Squire

Gameplay-wise, this is the main reason you’re in Artia, so it makes sense to cover this first.

The first step to unlocking the Tilt Gauntlets is by looking in on the giant pig taking a snooze in the northeastern area of Atria. Approaching the pig will prompt some dialogue from Moonbeard, telling you that you need to find a portal to get out of the book. Easier said than done. 

To find the portal, head to the southwest and find the hat-wearing dog next to the green and purple building. He’s concealing the portal, but he won’t move, so you’ll need to make him move. Violet will tell you that his owner might have some ideas and that he wears a matching bowler hat. 

The dog’s owner is Mr. Magri, who can be found east of the pumpkin house. Unfortunately, he needs inspiration before he can tell you how to move his pet, and he asks for an apple, which you can find in the juice bar to the west. 

Retrieve the apple, meet some of Violet’s less-than-friendly former schoolmates, and then return to Mr. Magri and give it to him. Then, once he’s told you that the best way to make the dog move is by telling him it’s time for his nap, head back and talk to the dog again to uncover the portal. 

Now you’re free to jump out of the book and search for the Tilt Gauntlets. They can be found in the attic of the dollhouse. Thankfully, the path to them is pretty well signposted, and all you need to do is follow the paving stones and arrows. 

Once you’ve made your way inside the dollhouse, make sure to attack all the furniture. This will ensure you find all the keys you need to unlock your way forward, allowing you to get the Tilt Gauntlets. Once you’ve got them, head back to the book, and as a tutorial of sorts, use them to roll the giant pig into its mud bath.

Where to find all of Uncle Umbers pigs

There are four pigs which are very easy to find, as shown in the images above:

1. In front of the Juice Bar where you got the apple for Mr. Magri
2. Inside the church-like building close to where the dog was sitting
3. Inside the Art Gallery towards the east
4. Roaming around behind the Salvador Dali-inspired pink house

Then there are two pigs which pose more of a problem, as you’ll need to find two hidden portals in order to reach them:

One pig can be found in the southeast corner of the book. You can’t reach this area while you’re in the book, as it’s across some water. Approach it from outside the book, and the hidden portal will appear:

The second troublesome piggy is in the northwestern corner of the book, and you’ll need to approach this one from outside the book as well because you can’t get over the wall. Once you’ve grabbed the pig, use the portal to hop back out of the book and then re-enter through the main portal where the dog was sitting.

The Plucky Squire is out now, and there is no shortage of achievements or trophies to unlock. Some of them are definitely easier than others, and some are downright infuriating, taking you down a mix of tasks like beating the game and finding a list of collectibles.

If you’re looking for an energy boost in Disney Dreamlight Valley, then you’re going to need some food and they don’t come much more rewarding than Creamy Garlic Scallops. 

Creamy Garlic Scallops is a 4-star entrée meal which makes up part of the Dreamlight Valley collection of recipes. That means that you don’t need to have the Rift in Time DLC in order to make the recipe. 

How to make Creamy Garlic Scallops in Disney Dreamlight Valley

As a 4-star recipe, you’ll need four ingredients to make Creamy Garlic Scallops:

• 1 Scallop

  • A Blue shell which can be found on the shore of Dazzle Beach. A maximum of four will spawn at any time. 

• 1 Lemon

  • Foraged from trees in the Forest of Valor or Glade of Trust
  • Can sometimes be purchased at Goofy’s Stall in the Forest of Valor for 67 Star Coins

• 1 Butter

  • Purchased from Chez Remy for 190 Star Coins

• 1 Garlic

  • A maximum of 10 Garlic can be foraged in the Forest of Valor at any time
  • Appears inside the Frozen Realm
  • Foraged from The Grove and The Lagoon areas of the Wild Tangle
  • Possible drop from Raccoons when fed a food that they like

Once you’ve got all of the ingredients, and have some Coal in your inventory or storage, you can throw all of them into the pot at any Cooking Station to create Creamy Garlic Scallops. 

Is Creamy Garlic Scallops worth making in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

Creamy Garlic Scallops aren’t the most useful when it comes to making profit, although each serving will be purchased by Goofy for upwards of 484 Star Coins. 

Where Creamy Garlic Scallops shines is when it comes to energy regeneration. When consumed, Creamy Garlic Scallops will give you at least 1,844 Energy. At level 40, this will almost fill the entire 2,000 energy blue bar and eating more than one serving will provide ample yellow energy to zoom around the Valley on your Glider. 

If you want to use Creamy Garlic Scallops as a decoration, you can do this by dropping it from your inventory and then moving it around within the Furniture menu.

If there’s one thing you’re going to need a lot of in Disney Dreamlight Valley, it’s Dream Shards. It’s needed in a lot of quests and crafts, so having a stockpile of this precious resource is never a bad thing. 

It can be hard to figure out where Dream Shards come from, especially if you’ve just begun your adventures in the Valley. Thankfully, there are a few different ways to get Dream Shards, and none of them will cost a single Star Coin. 

How to get Dream Shards in Disney Dreamlight Valley

There are three things that you can do to get Dream Shards:

Digging sparkling holes

At any time, three sparkling holes will spawn in each biome of the Valley. These can be dug up using your Royal Shovel, and will yield either Dream Shards of Night Shards. Regardless of which type of Shard you get, you’ll get between one and two per hole.

Feeding critters

All types of critters in the Valley or on Eternity Isle have a chance to drop Dream Shards when given a liked or loved food. The number you can get depends on each animal, and how much they enjoy the meal:

Removing Night Thorns or Splinters of Fate

Night Thorns, which grow in the Valley, or Splinters of Fate, which grow on Eternity Isle, can both drop Dream Shards when they’re removed. Dream Shards are one a lot of different items which can drop from them, so this is a less reliable method. 

Regardless of which type of obstacle you’re trying to remove, you can possibly get either one or two Dream Shards per obstacle removed. 

How to use Dream Shards in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The only regular crafting recipe which calls for Dream Shards is Purified Night Shards, which need five Night Shards and one Dream Shard to make. 

Other than that, Dream Shards are needed in order to complete the following quests:

• A New Enchantment 
• Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Oops 
• Fire Alarm
• Lair Sweet Lair 
• Lost in the Dark Grove
• Seed of Memories

If you’re a Disney fan looking for a new mobile game to wind down at the end of the day with, then I’ve got good news: Disney Pixel RPG finally has a release date. 

Disney Pixel RPG will be releasing on Android and iOS on October 7, and pre-registrations for the mobile game have already surpassed 600,000. 

Once the game is live, you’ll be able to customize your own character and then set off across a variety of different worlds to discover the characters who reside there. You’ll be accompanied throughout the story by Mickey Mouse and friends, so you’ll never have to face any challenge alone.

Completing objectives in Disney Pixel RPG will unlock new outfits and customization options, as well as new characters who will fight on your side. Fighting can either be casual, with the option to send out your fighters to complete quests and objectives while you’re getting on with life in the real world, or you can dive right into the action and take control.

So far, various characters have been revealed including Baymax, Winnie the Pooh, Genie, Maleficent, and even Judy from Zootopia, and all of them are depicted in adorable pixel format. All of these characters and many more can be sent out on Expeditions, which will take place when you’re not playing, to bring back resources and materials.

There are a lot of different types of wood in Disney Dreamlight Valley, and they all have their own specific uses. Tropical Wood is a type of wood which is added when you purchase the Rift in Time DLC and unlock Eternity Isle. 

Whether you’re wanting to complete certain quests, or simply want to craft some specific items, you’re likely to need a fair amount of Tropical Wood. It’s definitely not as common as some of the other types of wood, but thankfully there are a couple of ways to get your hands on some. 

Where to find Tropical Wood in Disney Dreamlight Valley

To get Tropical Wood, you’ll need to head to The Tangle on Eternity Isle. Here, you’ve got two choices, and I recommend making the most of both of them to stockpile Tropical Wood. That way, you’ll always have some on hand when you need it and you won’t have to hunt for it at a later date.

While doing your daily rounds of the Isle, make sure to keep an eye on the ground. Five Tropical Wood can be found in each of the four areas of the Wild Tangle at any time:

• The Grasslands
• The Promenade
• The Grove 
• The Lagoon

Once you’ve gathered all of the loose Tropical Wood, now you can move on to the secondary source — Evil Plants. 

These thorny, malignant looking plants can be found throughout the Wild Tangle, and destroying them will provide you with better one and four Tropical Wood, with small plants giving one or two and large plants giving between 2 and four. 

Before you can destroy these plants, you’ll need to upgrade your Royal Watering Can:

Perhaps the biggest draw of the Egg Festival in Stardew Valley is the Egg Hunt, which allows you to enter into competition with the residents of Pelican Town in order to find the most eggs. They’re hidden all around the main square in town, but not always in the same places.

Where the eggs are hidden depends on which year you’re currently playing through. The locations change depending on whether you’re in an odd or even year, but don’t worry, I can talk you through both. 

In total, there are 27 eggs to be found on odd years and 30 to be found on even years, although even the most optimized routes for either year won’t see you gathering all of the available eggs. 

The aim of the hunt, if you want to win and relegate Abigail to second place, is to gather at least nine eggs within 50 seconds. If you’re playing multiplayer, this number reduces depending on the number of people you have playing, with six being the winning number when two people are playing. The number of eggs needed to win reduces by one for each additional player.

General tips to help you win the Egg Hunt in Stardew Valley

Regardless of which year you’re playing through, I would strongly recommend drinking some Coffee before you enter the festival area. This will increase your movement speed, giving you an advantage over Abigail. It gives you an advantage over everyone else as well, but let’s face it, this is all about beating Abigail. 

Also remember that if you don’t win, and you’re hell bent on doing so, you can simply close the game without going to sleep and you’ll restart the day. This will give you another opportunity to come first. 

Rewards for winning the Egg Hunt in Stardew Valley

The first time you win the Egg Hunt, you’ll be rewarded with a rather lovely Straw Hat, as seen in the image above. Any additional wins on subsequent years will reward you with a Prize Ticket, which can be exchanged for items at Louis’ Prize Machine. 

The best Egg Hunt route for odd years in Stardew Valley

If you’re quick, have luck on your side, and have remembered your Coffee, you should be able to gather up a total of 18 eggs during odd years. Remember that you only need nine to win, and any additional eggs will simply earn you bragging rights over the residents of Pelican Town and any friends that you happen to be playing with. 

The best route for odd years, including the first year, is to head east and then follow the path set out in the image above.

The best Egg Hunt route for even years in Stardew Valley

With a whole new set up of eggs, it can be easy to get flustered and lose out on precious eggs. Again, you only technically need to gather up nine eggs at most in order to win, and villagers will be gathering eggs at the same time. 

It is possible to gather up to 20 eggs during the Egg Hunt on even years, although this isn’t likely. The best route to take is by starting at the south east corner of the main square and then following the route laid out above.

If you’re working your way through Special Orders in Stardew Valley, then you’ll eventually run into one from the Wizard. He asks for something very specific, which doesn’t appear outside the quest — Ectoplasm. 

Ectoplasm doesn’t show up as a gatherable item at any point outside of the Wizard’s Special Order quest, 'A Curious Substance'. After picking up the quest at the board in Pelican Town, you’ll have seven days to collect some Ectoplasm, but where to get it?

Loations and enemies for Ectoplasm in Stardew Valley

As long as “ A Curious Substance” is active, Ectoplasm has a very small 9.5% chance to drop from the following monsters:

• Ghosts

  • Found in the Mines between floors 51 and 79

• Carbon Ghosts

  • Found in Skull Cavern on Mummy levels
  • Found between floors 31 and 39 of the Dangerous Mines

• Putrid Ghosts

  • Found between floors 51 and 69 of the Dangerous Mines

The easiest way to get Ectoplasm for the quest is by taking the elevator down to floor 55 of the Mines and farming Ghosts on the floors before 79. Basic Ghosts have 96 HP, while Carbon and Putrid Ghosts have 190 and 500 HP, respectively. 

Drops from Ghost monsters in Stardew Valley

Each of these monsters also have a chance to drop other items, regardless of whether “A Curious Substance” is active or not:

If you’ve previously reached the final floor of the Mines, each of these monsters also has a chance to drop Diamonds and Prismatic Shards. Even if you don’t get Ectoplasm to drop immediately, this quest offers a good chance to stock up on other resources or source some artifacts.

The Rift in Time DLC adds a whole lot of new recipes to Disney Dreamlight Valley, and many of them are incredibly rewarding in terms of both Star Coin earning potential and energy replenishment.

How to make Chicken Souvlaki in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Chicken Souvlaki is a 4-star entrée and therefore requires four ingredients to make:

• 1 Poultry

  • Purchased from Gaston’s Stall in the Glittering Dunes for 500 Star Coins

• 1 Lemon

  • Foraged from trees in the Forest of Valor and Glade of Trust

• 1 Mint

  • A maximum of 10 Mint can be foraged at any time in the Frosted Heights

• 1 Paprika

  • Foraged from the ground in The Oasis and The Borderlands areas of the Glittering Dunes

Once you’ve gathered these four ingredients, make sure you’ve got some Coal in your inventory or storage somewhere, and then you can make Chicken Souvlaki at any Cooking Station by throwing the ingredients into the pot. 

How to use Chicken Souvlaki in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Chicken Souvlaki isn’t used in any quests, but it can come up as a favored gift for any villager, and sometimes appears as a request from villagers dining in Chez Remy. 

Where Chicken Souvlaki shines is in terms of profit and energy. Considering that you only need to purchase the Poultry, and everything else is foraged for free, you will make a minimum of 449 Star Coins. Goofy will purchase each serving for 949 Star Coins. 

Energy wise, Chicken Souvlaki will replenish at least 1,816 energy when consumed. This is nearly enough to fill the entire blue section of energy from empty, and eating two servings will provide ample yellow energy to glide around the Valley. 

If you want to use Chicken Souvlaki as a decoration, which is valid because it is a very pretty looking dish, you can drop it from your inventory and then move it around in the furniture menu.

House Flipper released back in 2018, and developer Frozen District has since released multiple DLCs, a VR version, and most importantly, a direct sequel. This last addition to their repertoire hasn’t stopped the DLC for the original game, though. 

The latest DLC, which is due for release on November 26, is called Dine Out. Predictably, it’s themed around restaurants and their renovation, but it also comes with a lot of new features which will be very useful and fun to experiment with outside of the DLC content. 

If you’re tired of being a property developer, the Dine Out DLC offers you the opportunity to hang up your renovating hat and instead don a chef’s hat. With the addition of a new tool called a Universal Cooker and the added benefit of the new Cookbook, you can cook to your heart's content in your very own renovated dining space. 

You can’t actually sell the dishes you make, sadly, but you can use them as decorations and if you have the previously released Farm DLC, you can even get a discount on ingredients depending on which items you have in your inventory.

Another exciting new feature is leasing. Rather than just renovating a property and then saying goodbye to it forever, you’ll now be able to get some tenants in. Rent will depend on the type of property (residential, office space, restaurant, etc.) and how many rooms the property has. 

It’s not been stated whether the tenants will look after the property and respect all of your hard work renovating, but that would definitely be an interesting mechanic.

As if all of the above wasn’t enough to make the Dine Out DLC incredibly tempting (do I need any more DLC? No. Will I get it anyway? Probably), the following will also be coming on November 26:

• New grid measurement system for precise placement of objects
• Customizable neon signs
• Customizable table cloths
• 10 new quests and properties to renovate
• 30 dishes included within the Cookbook
• Ability to symmetrically place items on flat surfaces
• Over 1,350 new items
