WoW: The War Within's campaign is rather lengthy and is split into a few parts, which makes it a bit difficult to track the full list of quests involved. Thankfully, I've completed all parts of it and can enlighten you.

The Full Campaign Quest List for WoW: The War Within

As just mentioned, the campaign for The War Within is comprised of three complete parts: The Visions of Azeroth Campaign, the Khaz Algar Leveling Campaign, and the Max-Level Campaign. All three parts make up the entirety of The War Within's campaign, and each requires conditions to be met to begin.

How to start Story Mode Raids in WoW The War Within https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-start-story-mode-raids-in-wow-the-war-within/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=how-to-start-story-mode-raids-in-wow-the-war-within https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-start-story-mode-raids-in-wow-the-war-within/#respond Fri, 20 Sep 2024 16:23:59 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=601624 Nerub-ar Palace in WoW The War Within

In WoW: The War Within, players solely looking to experience the overarching storyline of the Nerub-ar Palace raid have the option to run the raid in Story Mode. This mode is not enabled by default, so here's how you can turn it on.

How to enable Story Mode Raids in WoW The War Within

If you don't have time to experience the raid, or you simply don't care enough to do so, Story Mode raids are the perfect way for you to find out what happens next in WoW's overarching storyline. As a new feature added to WoW with The War Within, currently, only the Nerub-ar Palace raid has access to this mode. To turn it on, all you need to do is find Kriz the 'Loyal' near the entrance to Nerub-ar Palace (/way 32, 64).

Kriz, the Story Mode NPC in WoW The War Within

Talk with him and request to "Enter Nerubar-ar Palace in Story Mode." It should be the only dialogue option he gives you, so you can't miss it. Once enabled, simply enter the raid using the following pop-up, and you'll be directly teleported to the final boss, Queen Ansurek herself.

Queen Ansurek in WoW The War Within Story Mode
Screenshot by Destructoid

Even in Story Mode, you must face off against Queen Ansurek and slay her to see the end-of-raid cutscene, which moves the story forward. You won't be alone, though, as a number of capable NPCs will be by your side, allowing you to slay the queen with relative ease. All of the fight's standard mechanics can be completely ignored, making this mode even easier than LFR (Looking for Raid).

As mentioned, this mode is currently only for the Nerub-ar Palace raid, but is meant to be a longstanding feature going forward. You can expect it to be available for every following raid, therefore.

Can you get loot from Story Mode Raids?

Story Mode is designed to allow players to stay current with WoW's ongoing storyline without the pressures of dealing with other people. It is not designed as an alternative to completing the raid, thus you will earn no loot in Story Mode. If you want to complete the raid on an easier difficulty and still get loot, then you need to run LFR, as you can earn gear from completing each wing of it.

How hard are Story Mode Raids in WoW The War Within?

Story Mode raids are designed to be accessible for all players, allowing you to focus on the narrative without being overwhelmed by challenging mechanics. While there are mechanics in place, they are generally forgiving, ensuring that you can progress without the threat of failure. This mode emphasizes the story over difficulty, so you can engage with the story without worrying about being held back by complex encounters.

Honkai: Star Rail – Feixiao vs Acheron, Who is better? https://www.destructoid.com/honkai-star-rail-feixiao-vs-acheron-who-is-better/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=honkai-star-rail-feixiao-vs-acheron-who-is-better https://www.destructoid.com/honkai-star-rail-feixiao-vs-acheron-who-is-better/#respond Thu, 19 Sep 2024 15:49:54 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=601466 Feixiao in her trailer in Honkai: Star Rail

When it comes to raw power, Acheron is often compared to Firefly, and now Feixiao, as they rank among the top-tier characters in Honkai: Star Rail. With Feixiao being the newest addition to the roster, and both characters requiring a significant investment of currency (whether real or in-game), the question arises: Who truly stands out between her and Acheron?

Is Feixiao stronger than Acheron in Honkai: Star Rail?

If you're looking for a quick and dirty answer, she is not stronger than Acheron overall. However, there are nuances you should know about so you understand exactly why that is. The first I want to note is that Feixiao is largely superior to Acheron in pure single-target scenarios. This means that in any endgame mode that places Feixiao and Acheron against a single target, Feixiao will dish out more damage and allow you to kill the enemy faster. This makes sense with the roles of each character. Feixiao is a Hunt character while Acheron is Nihility. Hunt characters should be superior in a single target, as that is where their niche in a team lies.

Acheron facing Stellaron Hunters from Honkai: Star Rail

However, Acheron is no slouch in single-target DPS. In fact, in most cases, you won't need the type of damage output that Feixiao is capable of, because Acheron can dish out more than enough to end fights just as fast. For added measure, the moment more than one target is on the screen, Acheron completely outdoes Feixiao in terms of raw damage output. Acheron can consistently attack every enemy on the field with no sacrifices necessary. While Feixiao does have some light cleave, in this type of encounter Acheron is just better on all fronts. Feixiao is more restrictive than Acheron because she is almost entirely single-target-focused.

Feixiao using Ultimate in Honkai: Star Rail
Screenshot by Destructoid

To counter this, Feixiao's team composition is less limiting than Acheron's because she has more options to run with. Thanks to Feixiao's flexible kit, she only needs to play with strong follow-up attackers to gain the most out of running her. Acheron, however, requires two Nihility units on her team for her to be at maximum effectiveness, which is a point for Feixiao. However, once Acheron does have those two units, she can face anything in the game without any problems, something Feixiao can never say due to her lack of AoE (Area of Effect).

Acheron from Honkai: Star Rail
Image via Hoyoverse

So, all in all, Acheron is the strongest of the two characters because she is more versatile, adaptable, and consistent. She is extremely strong in all scenarios when her team composition is sound. While Acheron does deal less single-target damage, this hardly matters when she still deals massive single-target damage, while also doing that damage to all enemies on the field. Hopefully, this makes sense and helps you decide which one to pull for.

All The War Within Great Vault Rewards https://www.destructoid.com/all-the-war-within-great-vault-rewards/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=all-the-war-within-great-vault-rewards https://www.destructoid.com/all-the-war-within-great-vault-rewards/#respond Tue, 17 Sep 2024 17:47:13 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=599520 The Great Vault in WoW: The War Within

The Great Vault is one of the best sources of high-end loot in WoW: The War Within, but earning the potential rewards you can get from it requires some effort on your part. Here's how the Great Vault works, and how you can earn all the possible loot choices from it.

How to Unlock Great Vault Rewards in WoW: The War Within

Although added several years ago in one of WoW's many expansions, the Great Vault continues to act as the great counterbalance toward unlucky RNG. Even if you do everything you can in The War Within every week, you may never see the loot you're searching for drop. As such, the Great Vault ensures that all players can earn at least one high-end piece of loot every week if they are participating in the expansions of various end-game activities.

Great Vault options in The War Within

The Great Vault contains three sections that you can choose loot from Raids, Dungeons, and World. I will explain how you can unlock loot from all three sections below. Note that you can only pick one piece of loot per week from the Great Vault.

Raids

Raid Entrance in WoW: The War Within

Participation in the current raid (Nerub-ar Palace) will see you earn the right to choose a piece of loot from it through the Great Vault. You can get up to three choices, with all three being random gear drops from the raid itself and no where else. This limits the loot table for this section to solely to only raid drops.

To earn the three sections available, you must defeat bosses in the raid.

  • Defeat 2 Nerub-ar Palace Bosses - Unlocks the leftmost choice under Raid
  • Defeat 4 Nerub-ar Palace Bosses - Unlocks the middle section under Raid
  • Defeat 6 Nerub-ar Palace Bosses - Unlocks the rightmost section under Raid

These requirements can be met by simply completing LFR (Looking for Raid), but the ilvl (item level) of the options will be increased if you meet these requirements on higher difficulties. For example, defeating 2 Nerub-ar Palace bosses on Heroic difficulty will upgrade the leftmost section to Heroic difficulty level loot (610), instead of Normal level loot (597). This encourages you to do harder content for better options from the Great Vault.

Dungeons

Dungeon Entrance in the War Within
Screenshot by Destructoid

This section of the Great Vault pertains to participation in Heroic, Mythic, Timewalking, and Mythic+ level dungeons, with each increasing difficulty offering better rewards upon completion of the required objectives.

  • Complete 1 Heroic or Mythic Dungeon - Unlocks the leftmost section under Dungeon
  • Complete 4 Heroic or Mythic Dungeons - Unlocks the middle section under Dungeon
  • Complete 8 Heroic or Mythic Dungeons - Unlocks the rightmost section under Dungeon

In the case of Mythic level dungeons, completing more difficult Mythic+ content will earn you better options via the Great Vault.

World

World Activity in WoW: The War Within

The World section of the Great Vault pertains to participation in World-based content, such as World Quest, and Delves, The War Within's newest content pillar. Delves are divided into tiers of difficulty, with Tier 8 currently being the highest level you need to reach to earn the best loot from the Great Vault. Completion of a certain number of Delves will earn you the right to choose high-end loot from them.

  • Complete 2 Delves or World Activities - Unlocks the leftmost section under World
  • Complete 4 Delves or World Activities - Unlocks the middle section under World
  • Complete 8 Delves or World Activities - Unlocks the rightmost section under World

How to get loot from the Great Vault in WoW: The War Within

If you decide to complete all of the objectives listed above for all three sections of the Great vault, you will have a total of nine choices for loot. Loot from the Great Vault is distributed after every Tuesday Maintenance, which means you will not be able to pick your choice until then. You can, however, check your Great Vault progress by going to it directly in Dorongal (/way 54, 42) or accessing via the Dungeon menu (Mythic+ Dungeons, Delves), and clicking on the lock.

The Great Value menu option in WoW: The War Within

As mentioned earlier, you can only pick one of the nine options available to you, so make sure to choose wisely. This process repeats every single week, and when new content is released, loot from it will also be expanded into the Great Vault automatically.

How to get more Artisan’s Acuity in The War Within https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-get-more-artisans-acuity-in-the-war-within/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=how-to-get-more-artisans-acuity-in-the-war-within https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-get-more-artisans-acuity-in-the-war-within/#respond Tue, 17 Sep 2024 14:47:24 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=598608 Profession Table in WoW: The War Within

If you're looking to craft your way to the top in WoW: The War Within, you're going to need a lot of Artisan's Acuity to do so. Artisan's Acuity is a very limited resource, but there are a few ways you can gain more of it when needed.

Where to get Artisan's Acuity in The War Within

Artisan's Acuity is the rarest resource you can obtain when it comes to crafting professions. Unlike most resources, it is not obtained via gathering. Instead, it comes most commonly as a byproduct of successful first-time crafts.

First-time Crafts

A first-time craft is exactly what it sounds like: crafts done for the very first time for your profession. Almost every single item that can be crafted will reward Artisan's Acuity as a bonus reward upon a successful first-time craft. You'll know if an item is eligible for this reward when you see 'First-Time Craft' listed upon looking at its recipe in your profession journal.

Patron Crafting Orders

Eventually, you'll run out of first-time craftables to earn Artisan's Acuity from and need to harvest it using an entirely different method. When this happens, the best way to get more is to complete Patron Crafting Orders. These are special crafting orders commissioned to you by many of WoW's NPCs, including well-known favorites like Millhouse Manastorm (yes really).

To access this, head to your respective crafting profession table and click the Crafting Orders button at the bottom. From here, look at the top of the screen and select Patron. There may be a number beside the word, and this indicates the number of potential NPC Crafting Orders you currently have in waiting.

Selecting any of these NPCS orders will reveal their requirements and what you need to fulfill them. Many times, these NPCs will provide some of their own materials, making it a bit easier on you to complete it. The last important thing for you to look out for are the actual rewards, as not every Patron Crafting Order will reward Artisan's Acuity. Only some do, so be careful which ones you decide to complete.

Craft Rewards in WoW: The War Within

Once you've exhausted all the Patron Crafting Orders that reward you with Artisan's Acuity, your only option is to wait for new ones to come to earn more. New orders tend to come in daily, so be sure to check back periodically. This is also why it is critical to use your Artisan's Acuity wisely, as it is time-gated. These are your primary means of earning Artisan's Acuity.

Best Monk Race in WoW: The War Within https://www.destructoid.com/best-monk-race-in-wow-the-war-within/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=best-monk-race-in-wow-the-war-within https://www.destructoid.com/best-monk-race-in-wow-the-war-within/#respond Mon, 16 Sep 2024 21:21:27 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=598570 Zen Flight Monk in WoW

Playing a Monk in WoW: The War Within is an interesting experience due to the changes the class received, when compared to previous expansions. Simply put: the class's stats scale much better, so if you're interested in playing a Monk, here are the best races you should choose.

Strongest Monk Race in WoW: The War Within

For each faction, there is a superior race you should consider if you're looking to maximize your Monk's potential.

Dwarf

Dwarf Monk in WoW
Screenshot by Destructoid

The best Alliance race most suited for the Monk is the Dwarf for a few reasons. First, the Might of the Mountain passive allows your critical strikes to hit 2% harder, which can be a noticeable increase for your Windwalker DPS. For both Mistwaver and Brewmaster, Stoneform is one of the strongest defensive abilities in the game. It removes all negative status effects from you (a godsent in difficult encounters) while reducing the damage you take by 10% for eight seconds. You really can't go wrong with a Dwarf if you looking to excel as an Alliance Monk.

Human

Human Monk in WoW
Screenshot by Destructoid

Alternatively. Humans make one of the best Monks due to the racial The Human Spirit. This racial increases all secondary stats (Haste, Critical Strike, Masery, and Versatility) by an additional 2%. All Monk specs require certain secondary stats, so this is a very good racial to have as a Monk.

Orc

Orc Monk in WoW
Screenshot by Destructoid

The best Horde race most suited for the Monk class is the Orc due to their exceptional racials. Bloodfury boosts all of your damage by a scaling amount of your Attack Power (based on level), for 15 seconds. When used with other boosting effects, such as Bloodlust, on-use Trinkets, or powerful Monk cooldowns like Earth, Storm, and Fire, these combined effects with produce a health boost to your overall DPS. Defensively, Hardiness reduces all durations of stun-based effects by 20% which is fantastic for all Monk specs, but especially so for Brewmasters.

Blood Elf

Blood Elf Monk in WoW
Screenshot by Destructoid

If Orcs don't fancy you, then a strong secondary option would be a Blood Elf. Blood Elfs get Arcane Torrent, which dispels all Magic-based effects in the area around them, while also restoring one Chi (the Monk's main resource) at the same time. This is a powerful, offensive active ability. Additionally, Blood Elves get a free 1% increased Critical Strike chance at all times, which is nice for DPS.

Should you play any other Monk Race?

The differences between the available races for your Monk are quite minimal. Racial abilities generally don’t provide a significant enough advantage to limit your choices to just the top two. This means you’re free to pick any race you like for your Monk without worrying about a major impact on performance.

The suggestions above are mainly for players seeking to maximize every bit of potential. However, if you prefer the aesthetics or racial traits of another race, feel free to choose that one without hesitation.

10 TTRPGs for a different kind of superhero story https://www.destructoid.com/10-ttrpgs-for-a-different-kind-of-superhero-story/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=10-ttrpgs-for-a-different-kind-of-superhero-story https://www.destructoid.com/10-ttrpgs-for-a-different-kind-of-superhero-story/#respond Sun, 15 Sep 2024 14:57:48 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=597751

The perspectives within a comic book world come in many, many forms, and there's no reason your tabletop should be lacking in options to play with those forms. Whether you're on the hunt for stories about marginalized mutants, sponsored supervillains, or being stuck in a school for the strange, this list of games is here to offer you some options.

10. Agents of BAMF (Fainting Goat Games)

"The capes can't always be There. That's why There's BAMF," so the game declares.
Not everyone in the world is a hero, but that doesn't make them any less skilled. Agents of BAMF presents the side of comics inhabited by the likes of Phil Coulson or Hellboy. Here, players take on the role of super agents working for the kind of alphabet soup organization that you expect to see in comics (SHIELD, The BPRD, Checkmate, AEGIS). The game was forged out of OSR principals, meaning folks with any familiarity with D&D, Pathfinder, or Mörk Borg will quickly find themselves at home as they dispatch supervillains and strange monstrosities.

9. Masks of the Masks (Hazel Amber Goswick)

Imagine the clock ticking towards doomsday, stark in its monotone contrast against a colorful backdrop, yet still ticking, unendingly, towards the end, no matter how hard you try to study it. That is, in short, what you'll find in Masks of the Masks. Inspired by, and emulating on every page, stories like Watchmen that deconstruct the superhero, this game drips in style and substance. Built on the back of the Powered by the Apocalypse system, this game sees you creating heroes who... aren't necessarily alright... and find themselves solving a conspiracy that is likely to always end in calamity.

8. Neo Guanabara – Cyberpunk Tropicala (Ludus Hero)

Cyberpunk is not often a genre associated with superheroes. Still, Neo Guanabara follows in the footsteps of those brave few, like Batman Beyond, Spider-Man 2099, and, I guess, Loonatics Unleashed. Create your perfect hero with specially designed stats to represent their abilities and get ready to battle against criminal gangs, megacorporations, and oppressive governments. The game provides systems to keep the city fluid and makes sure that the impact your heroes leave on the city is felt. Neo Guanabara iterates on mechanics similar to the Cortex system, meaning anyone who got to play Marvel Heroic Roleplaying before it went out of print will be familiar with Neo.

7. Villainous Fucks (KeganEXE)

Why even bother being a hero? Why not give yourself to the other side? The League of Villainous Fucks is always looking for those who are determined to battle against those pesky protectors. The villain, after all, is just as important to the story as the hero. Villainous Fucks is Illuminated by Lumen, so it is designed for quick play and even quicker action. The rules-lite design means that it is made for quickly building a character, defining your villain's powers, and then getting straight to the part where you cause mayhem and destroy anybody who thinks they should stop you. What's not to love about your new gig?

6. Hit The Streets: Defend The Block (Rich Rogers)

The greatest joy of Marvel's Defenders Netflix shows is the knowledge, for example, that Daredevil is putting himself through hell to protect a twelve-block area in the middle of Manhattan. No game truly captures that vibe like Hit The Streets does. At all times, you will feel like you're giving it everything you have to defend, like a single apartment complex. Hit The Streets boils down your stats to the minutiae of each body part, despite its fast-paced d6-slinging system. It really makes you feel like you're dragging every inch of yourself forward to protect what you've got.

5. Mutants in the Night (Orion D. Black)

We've all seen some variation on an X-Men story where we see that future, the one where the Sentinels win. Dystopic visions of mutant oppression and police state-induced societal decline are seen in Days of Future Past, Logan, and X-Men '97. Mutants in the Night drops you directly into that future and then asks you to survive in it. You'll get a variety of powers to customize your characters alongside all of the factions and troubles occupying the Mutant Safe Zone you're all living in. Mutants in the Night uses Forged In The Dark to expertly thread the needle between narrative-driven and ruthless.

4. Single Unique Power (Possible World Games)

Maybe you're after a game that's a little more laid back for game night. Single Unique Power is a world-building game that asks you to invent a cast of super-powered people and their world. You are asked to simply create individuals that have powers found no where else, completely unique to them. The premise itself takes its cues from media like My Hero Academia, where no one on Earth has the same power as someone else. If you're ever looking to put together a campaign with superpowers, here's the best way to get your party emotionally invested in the NPCs beforehand.

3. Mutants in the Now/Mutants in the Next (J/K! Games/Julian Kay)

It is the nature of the human being to yearn to become a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. Maybe you don't want to specifically be a turtle, but you want to be an animal that fights ninjas and robots and aliens and whatever else you can imagine. Mutants in the Now is here to satisfy that yearning. This game asks you to become a mutated creature with almost limitless ways to battle the forces of evil. If there's one thing I'd tell you about this game, it's that it has options. Options for animals, options for powers, options for ways to fight. Its expansion, Mutants in the Next, doubles those options. If you can push through the choice paralysis, there are limitless ways to be radical ahead of you.

2. Molotov College (W.H. Arthur)

Molotov College is a game about questions as much as superheroics. Chief among those questions is how you're expected to save the world when there's so much wrong with it and with you. Built from the Belonging Outside Belonging system, the game isn't just narrative-first; it's basically narrative-only. Molotov College asks you to play a hero who is tremendously flawed and not on the best terms with your fellow heroes, then confront those flaws and those relationships, and avert disaster. The main inspirations it pulls from are The Umbrella Academy and Doom Patrol, meaning the special flavor of superheroics you'll be doing is particularly off-the-wall and begging for answers.

1. Exceptionals (Bramble Wolf Games)

Previously, I talked about a game that depicts a dystopia for mutant kind. Now, to finish up, Exceptionals brings us the perfect way to play out the X-Men story of your dreams. The tag-based system for making characters lets you flesh out the ways your mutation helps and hinders you. It never loses track of what makes our favorite X-Mutants so beloved, that sense of building a community against the world that wants to put you down. Thriving in the face of adversity, carving out a place to call your own, and shooting stuff with your eye beams are all the reasons that X-Men keeps itself running, and Exceptionals never loses sight of that. Instead, it doubles down on all of that. Powers are detailed and unique; meanwhile, you'll be filling out your bonds and fighting to make your little mutant community live on.

How to easily level Brann in The War Within Delves, and what to know https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-easily-level-brann-in-the-war-within-delves-and-what-to-know/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=how-to-easily-level-brann-in-the-war-within-delves-and-what-to-know https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-easily-level-brann-in-the-war-within-delves-and-what-to-know/#respond Fri, 13 Sep 2024 16:38:18 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=597115 Brann Bronzebeard in WoW: The War Within

With Delves being introduced in WoW: The War Within as a new pillar of endgame content for solo players, leveling up Brann is important, especially if you plan to progress them. If you're unsure how to do this properly, here's all that you need to know on the matter.

How to level Brann for Delves in The War Within

Brann can only gain experience through playing Delves. There's no method currently that allows you to level Brann outside of them., but it is easy to do so if you know what you're doing.

Brann gets Experience in a couple of ways via Delves:

  • Delve Completions - A large majority of the experience Brann gets will be through successful Delves. The higher the tier, the more experience he will gain, with higher tiers granting much more overall.
  • Killing Enemies - Every successful kill will reward Brann with a small amount of experience. The more powerful the foe, the more experience.
  • Lootables - When looting treasure in Delves, sometimes you'll find raw experience drops that, when picked up, automatically reward Brann with experience. These come in multiple rarities, with the highest (purple) rewarding him with the most XP.

Delve Curio in WoW: The War Within
Screenshot by Destructoid

As you can see, just participating in Delves content will level up Brann. However, if you're looking to speed up the leveling process, a specific Delve called Tak-Rethan Abyss (/way 58, 78) in Azj-Kahet is fast to finish. It is also fairly easy to complete solo, making it the ideal Delve for speed leveling Brann. Additionally, it is the perfect Delve for unlocking the later tiers due to how fast you can run through it. Tak-Rethan Abyss also contains plenty of lootables to grab for Brann experience.

Why is Brann not getting experience in The War Within?

As you run Delves, you may notice that your Brann stops getting experience. Once Brann reaches a certain level, he can only gain more experience by running Bountiful Delves. Since only four Bountiful Delves are active daily, this effectively means leveling Brann is timegated. However, I've found that this doesn't matter much for the current scope of Delve content, as tier eight is completable with his current power scaling.

What Curios should you use on Brann in The War Within?

There are quite a few options for Curios to use on Brann. However, there are a couple I recommend, especially if you're trying to level him up quickly.

Brann's Build in WoW: The War Within
Screenshot by Destructoid

  • Streamlined Relic - This is Utility Curio that boosts your out-of-combat movement speed considerably while also boosting your Haste stat during combat. This Curio is great for speeding through Tak-Rethan Abyss (and any other Delve), as they can be rather large to walk through at normal speed.
  • Idol of the Earthmother - Brann grants you a massive shield when you're injured. This one is simple but greatly boosts your survivability in high-tier Delves.
  • Olden Seeker Relic - While exploring Delves, when Brann uses his Gathering Tools ability, there's a 20% chance you'll get a powerful buff. This one isn't as universally useful as those mentioned above, but the buffs you can get from this are quite strong.
  • Relic of Sentience - When you pick up one of Brann's health potions, there's a chance he could throw you an additional one. This is a solid boost to your survivability, as it means more health potions for you to pick up if your Brann is set to the Healer role.

If you don't have these Curios, they can all be obtained randomly via completing Delves. Make sure you open up any treasure chests you find, as each could contain one of these Curios. Using even one of them will make your life easier, so keep an eye out for them.

What Combat Role should Brann be for Delves in The War Within?

Brann can either be a Healer or a Damage Dealer while supporting you in a Delve. While he is strong in both roles, I prefer him as a Healer as his potions heal a massive amount and he still has DPS at the same time. Even so, feel free to pick his role based on your own.

Best Feixiao build in Honkai: Star Rail https://www.destructoid.com/best-feixiao-build-in-honkai-star-rail/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=best-feixiao-build-in-honkai-star-rail https://www.destructoid.com/best-feixiao-build-in-honkai-star-rail/#respond Thu, 12 Sep 2024 17:02:24 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=596442 Feixiao in her trailer in Honkai: Star Rail

If you're planning to pull Feixiao in Honkai: Star Rail, you need to understand the best way to build her up to get the most impact. For all your build crafting needs, here's a nifty guide on Feixiao, to help you get your feet on the ground.

Strongest Feixiao Build in Honkai: Star Rail

Feixiao is a Wind Hunt character that focuses on delivering easy-to-access follow-up attacks to dish out extremely potent single-target damage. Unlike most follow-up attackers, Feixiao's are super easy to activate—only requiring a teammate to attack an enemy target, and that's it. This means that Feixiao attacks very often without any sort of follow-up restrictions, making her highly versatile. Feixiao's versatility translates into her being able to be inserted into practically any team composition and find some level of success.

Feixiao Introduction in Honkai: Star Rail
Screenshot by Destructoid

Feixiao does not require too much high-level planning to get rolling because most of her kit is straightforward and her team restrictions are low. However, one of her unique aspects you need to be aware of is how her Ultimate ability works. Like Acheron, Feixiao's Ultimate does not work off an energy threshold. Instead, she requires stacks of her Talent, Thunderhunt, to build up to a minimum of six. This is done simply by having her teammates attack enemies. Every two launched attacks count toward this counter, which is important to consider later for team composition.

At six stacks, Feixiao can activate her Ultimate at will to dish out some solid damage that ignores Elemental Weakness while active. Her Talent caps out at twelve, however, which greatly improves her Ultimate's damage if you wait to use it. Still, being able to activate it early provides you with a new tactical option, which can make or break an encounter. Beyond this, she is a tried and true Main DPS that wants ATK% and CRIT stats to dish out her damage.

Best Relics for Feixiao

A substantial portion of Feixiao's damage comes from her launching her unconditional follow-up attacks often, so you want to use Relics that focus on improving them. With this in mind, her best Relic set is The Wind-Soaring Valorous, as it provides Feixiao with a nice boost to ATK% and CRIT Rate. Most important though is the 36% damage increase to her Ultimate, something she should be using often.

A strong alternative set you can use is The Ashblazing Grand Duke as it greatly boosts the power of her follow-up attacks, the other thing she should be doing quite often.

Feixiao Relics in Honkai: Star Rail
Screenshot by Destructoid

For Feixiao's Sphere and Rope set, you want to use Duran, Dynasty of Running Wolves, as it directly synergizes with her core gameplay loop of having her allies use follow-up attacks to build stacks for her Talent. The set gives a stacking dmg boost (5%) to Feixiao's follow-ups every time a teammate launches a follow-up attack, up to five times. At five stacks, Feixiao additionally gains 25% CRIT DMG. Quite strong.

Best Team Comp for Feixiao

While Feixiao doesn't require any specific characters to function well, as a follow-up attacker, she gains considerable power from teams that focus on empowering them at all times. With this in mind, Topaz and Robin are her best teammates. March 7th (Hunt) is also a strong alternative supporter for Feixiao.

Feixiao Team Comp in Honkai: Star Rail
Screenshot by Destructoid

Topaz is the premium follow-up attack buffer and she is especially potent with Feixiao thanks to her ability to buff follow-up attacks against single targets. Topaz synergizes with Feixiao incredibly well due to this, along with her high attack frequency, giving Feixiao a constant source of stacks for her Ultimate.

Robin is a standout follow-up attack buffer, designed specifically to enhance the performance of characters who rely on frequent attacks. Her Ultimate thrives on the team's ability to unleash multiple attacks within its active window, significantly boosting overall damage. When paired with characters like Topaz and Feixiao, who constantly trigger each other's follow-up attacks, Robin's Ultimate can deliver devastating blows repeatedly, maximizing the team's offensive potential.

March 7th (Hunt) is a strong alternative to Topaz for pairing with Feixiao, offering a significant speed boost and extra attacks that help Feixiao build stacks more quickly. Similar to Topaz, both characters can trigger each other's follow-up attacks, leading to multiple strikes per turn. Furthermore, when Feixiao becomes March 7th's Shifu, she gains access to Wind and Imaginary elements, allowing her to cover a rarer set of weaknesses and enhance the team's versatility.

Should you get Feixiao's Lightcone in Honkai: Star Rail?

Feixiao's Lightcone, I Venture Forth to Hunt, is undoubtedly her best option, and you should consider pulling for it if you're planning on getting her. It gives her an absurd amount of additional CRIT Rate while allowing her to ignore a considerable amount of her target's defense if she landed follow-up attacks against them. It is a large damage increase for her that you should consider if you're pulling Feixiao.

Screenshot by Destructoid

However, if you're not interested in her Lightcone, she does have one other notable option with Baptism of Pure Thought--Dr. Ratio's signature Lightcone. It gives Feixiao a general damage buff and allows her follow-up attacks to ignore the defense of her enemies (smaller than her signature) every time she uses her Ultimate. This lasts for two turns, but since Feixiao will be triggering her Ultimate and follow-up attacks pretty much all the time, this buff is permanent, making the Lightcone a very strong alternative.

Best Eidolons for Feixiao in Honkai: Star Rail

Like most limited five-star characters, Feixiao is a strong character right out of the gate at E0. She really does not need Eidolons to crush all of the content the game has to offer. However, if you're still interested in getting some of her Eidolons, here's an overview of each one for your information.

Feixiao Eidolons in Honkai: Star Rail
Screenshot by Destructoid

  • Skyward I Quell (E1) - Every time Feixiao launches Boltsunder Blitz or Waraxe Skyward, the damage of her Ultimate is boosted by 10% of the damage. This stacks up to five times. As you may suspect, this is an incredibly powerful Eidolon with a highly unique scaling factor not seen in most others at E1. Worth it if you're investing in Feixiao.
  • Moonward I Wish (E2) - With this Eidolon, Feixiao will gain stacks of her follow-up counter significantly faster if her allies also attack with follow-up attacks. Most of Feixiao's damage comes from her Ultimate, so this Eidolon allows her to reach her maximum potential much more quickly than normal. Good Eidolon. Makes her flow much better.
  • Starward I Bode (E3) - Provides a hefty boost to her Ultimate damage, which is always nice but not worth investing in unless you're going beyond.
  • Stomward I Hear (E4) - Doubles Feixiao's Toughness damage when she is utilizing a follow-up attack. Also, provides her with a large bonus to her Speed, which is always strong on Hunt characters. This Eidolon is quite powerful, but not on the same level as her E1 or E2.
  • Heavenward I Leap (E5) - Boosts the potency of Feixiao's Skill and Talent. While the Skill boost is not important, the damage boost to her Talent affects her follow-up attacks, which leads to a nice increase in her overall damage. Still, not worth getting unless you planning to go to her E6.
  • Homeward I Near (E6) - This Eidolon is monstrous. Firstly, it turns Feixiao's follow-up DMG into Ultimate DMG, which means her follow-ups now gain full benefits from Ultimate DMG buffs of all types. On top of this, she gains 20% All-type Resistance Penetration, which means she will always deal more damage to all enemy types, at all times. If this wasn't enough, Feixiao's follow-up attacks additionally gain a staggering DMG multiplier increase of 140%, which is stupidly high. Absurd.

Should you pull for Feixiao in Honkai: Star Rail? https://www.destructoid.com/should-you-pull-for-feixiao-in-honkai-star-rail/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=should-you-pull-for-feixiao-in-honkai-star-rail https://www.destructoid.com/should-you-pull-for-feixiao-in-honkai-star-rail/#respond Wed, 11 Sep 2024 15:26:15 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=594790 Feixiao from her trailer in Honkai: Star Rail

The ferocious Feixiao has finally made her way into full release in Honkai: Star Rail version 2.5. With it, it's time to ask the question that always pops into the mind of those considering pulling a new character: Is she worth it?

Is Feixiao worth pulling in Honkai: Star Rail?

Feixiao is an extraordinarily powerful character with a lot of easy-to-access damage in her kit. In terms of raw strength, she offers a ton of value to any account, but the amount depends on who else you already own. This is because Feixiao is a follow-up character, and as with most follow-up characters in HSR, they thrive depending on who they have on their team. With Topaz and Robin being her best teammates by far, thanks to their potent buffs to follow-up attacks, having them on your account makes Feixiao an interesting consideration.

Furthermore, Feixiao being a Hunt character means she deals top-tier single-target damage, but a big plus is that her AoE potential isn't all that weak despite her typing. Her follow-up mechanic is rather unique for a follow-up character because, unlike most, her follow-up does not require any special condition to build or activate. An ally hitting an enemy is enough to increase her counter, meaning she is highly versatile and can fit on most teams without much trouble.

Feixiao using Ultimate in Honkai: Star Rail
Screenshot by Destructoid

That said, despite Feixiao’s solid value, she isn’t a must-pull for a few key reasons. Her biggest drawback is the stiff competition she faces from Firefly and Acheron. While Feixiao can dish out just as much damage as these two, you don't need to pull for her if you already have one or both. Firefly and Acheron are in the same power tier as Feixiao, and her slight edge in single-target damage isn’t enough to justify spending Stellar Jades for such a minor upgrade. This is especially true in AoE-heavy content like Pure Fiction, where Feixiao struggles to compete in any meaningful metric and is far less effective than the aforementioned.

So, should you pull for Feixiao? Is she worth your time and investment? The answer depends on your roster. If you already have her ideal teammates, like Topaz and Robin, or if you're missing Firefly and Acheron, she could be a great addition. But, if you're only after her for meta reasons, weigh these factors before committing. Ultimately, if you love her design, go for it! Your enjoyment should be the top priority. Just make sure you're certain before pulling the lever.

When do Mythic 0 Dungeons reset in WoW: The War Within? https://www.destructoid.com/when-do-mythic-0-dungeons-reset-in-wow-the-war-within/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=when-do-mythic-0-dungeons-reset-in-wow-the-war-within https://www.destructoid.com/when-do-mythic-0-dungeons-reset-in-wow-the-war-within/#respond Wed, 11 Sep 2024 15:25:35 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=595571 Dungeon portal in WoW: The War Within

With Mythic dungeons finally available for play in WoW: The War Within, you might be wondering exactly when these dungeons will be reset once you've completed them. Whether you're a new player curious about the mechanic, or an old player potentially confused thanks to Mythic history, here's all that you need to know.

What time do Mythic 0 Dungeons reset in WoW: The War Within

In the past, Mythic dungeons (now known as Mythic 0) had a weekly reset, allowing you to complete each dungeon only once per week. This made gear drops from Mythic dungeons relatively scarce, despite being among the best pre-raid gearing options available.

Raid Info in WoW: The War Within
Screenshot by Destructoid

Fast forward to The War Within, and the rules have changed significantly. Since the introduction of Mythic+ in Battle for Azeroth, Blizzard has continually refined the system, enhancing the fun and challenge, but diminishing the relevance of Heroic and Mythic 0 dungeons. While The War Within doesn't impact Heroics much, it completely revamps Mythic 0, which now reset daily and is notably more challenging to complete. As a result, Mythic 0 dungeons now drop much better loot (still inferior to Mythic+ and Raid gear) and have a much longer lifespan in the current gearing climate.

To be more specific, Mythic 0s reset around 8:00 am PST, allowing you to jump in for another chance at higher tier loot. If you're still not sure exactly when the reset is, type /raidinfo in your in-game chat to see all your lock-out information. If you're looking to jump into the first raid of The War Within, then know that Mythic 0 dungeons are worth grinding out to get a leg up on your item level.

Should You Pact with the Weaver, General, or Vizier in The War Within? https://www.destructoid.com/should-you-pact-with-weaver-general-or-vizier-wow-the-war-within/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=should-you-pact-with-weaver-general-or-vizier-wow-the-war-within https://www.destructoid.com/should-you-pact-with-weaver-general-or-vizier-wow-the-war-within/#respond Fri, 06 Sep 2024 14:34:17 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=592490 The Severed Threads Quartermaster in The War Within

As you progress through the ranks of The Severed Threads storyline tied to Azj-Kahet in WoW: The War Within, you'll eventually receive the opportunity to make a pact with one of the three sub-factions that make it whole.

If you're not sure which one to join up with, here's some information to help you decide which sub-faction to make a pact with in The War Within.

Should you join the Weaver, Vizier, or General in WoW: The War Within?

To be upfront first, regardless if you decide to join the Weaver, General, or Vizier, the choice is not permanent. Based on how it is presented to you, you may be inclined to believe it is a one-time thing, but that is not the case. You need to make this choice weekly as it is the primary means of progressing the three sub-factions of The Severed Threads. Choosing to pact with one of these sub-factions means that a majority of your activities in Azj-Kahet will reward a significant amount of reputation toward it, while the other two you didn't go with, gain very little.

That said, even the first time you make this choice does matter, as each sub-faction rewards you with unique stuff tied to it, along with permanent buffs while in Azj-Kahet. Just for you, I'll give you a summary of what each sub-faction offers, and why you may want to consider making a pact with them.

Should you Pact with The Weaver?

If you're someone who loves to craft and gather materials from the world itself, then you may want to consider aligning yourself with the principles of The Weaver. Bobbin, the Eye of the Weaver (/way 56, 43) is your representative and it is he who you must speak with to understand the ways of the Weaver.

By going with the Weaver, you earn quite a few useful perks as a crafter. The most important one is called World Buff: Weaver's Tutelage, which allows you to both craft and gather 15% faster. This is extremely useful for those looking to gather materials, whether it's picking herbs or mining ore. As you progress the reputation with the Weaver, you'll get an even more powerful version of this buff called World Buff: Weaver's Prodigy, which turns that 15% into 30%.

Beyond the buff itself, you'll gain access to a special ability called Woven Cocoon, which allows you to spin a web to trap foes in front of you. You can also earn yourself the Widow's Undercrawler mount, the Silksinger title, and the ability to find Weave-Rat Caches treasures throughout Azj-Kahet.

Should you Pact with The Vizier?

The Vizier's vendor in The War Within
Screenshot by Destructoid

If you're someone looking to earn a lot of Nerubian currency (Kej), perhaps collaborating with the Vizier is a better choice for you. Should you decide upon this path, Tulumun, Assistant to the Executor is your main representative to be mindful of. He will help you understand the value of the Vizier.

Choosing the Vizier as your Pact earns you plenty of Kej for purchasing various Nerubian goods via World Buff: Vizier's Savvy. With this buff the amount of Kej you earn for any related activity will be increased by 10%. Further progression with the Vizier will see you earn access to an even better version called World Buff: Vizier's Supremacy, which boosts Kej earnings by 20%.

Besides this, you'll gain access to a special ability called Unstable Concoction, which allows you to hurl a wide variety of experimental potions at your enemies. Additionally, you can obtain the Royal Court Undercrawler mount, the Hand of the Vizier title, and access to Kaheti Excavations.

Should you Pact with The General?

The General's vendor in The War Within
Screenshot by Destructoid

Last but not least, if you're someone looking to survive the hostile world of the Nerubian Empire a little easier, then consider joining up with the General. Following this path is Anub'okki, Disciple of Anub'azal, and should you decide to follow suit, he will be your primary representative for comprehending the methodology of the General.

By choosing to work with the General, you'll gain access to a 'Cheat Death' mechanic, allowing you to survive otherwise impossible encounters via World Buff: General's Phalanx. When this 'Cheat Death' activates, you'll become completely immune to all damage for 10 seconds. Further favor with the General earns you the right to World Buff: General's Bulwark, which does the same thing, but with a much shorter cooldown in-between activations.

Beyond this, working with the General earns you access to a special ability called Heavy Ordnance, which allows you to call in a Nerubian airstrike on unsuspecting foes. In addition, you will be able to earn the Heritage Undercrawler mount and Anub title, along with access to Forgotten Memorials.

How to get more Concentration in WoW: The War Within https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-get-more-concentration-in-wow-the-war-within/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=how-to-get-more-concentration-in-wow-the-war-within https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-get-more-concentration-in-wow-the-war-within/#respond Fri, 06 Sep 2024 14:17:31 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=591862 Crafting Station in WoW: The War within

In WoW: The War Within, the easiest way to make the best items in the game is to use Concentration to do it. However, this newly added crafting resource is very limited in how much you can use, so the question becomes: how do you get more of it?

How to recharge Concentration in WoW: The War Within

Concentration was added to The War Within as a replacement for the RNG mechanic tied to improving profession-related crafts in Dragonflight. The total profession overhaul that came with Dragonflight shaped the current system we have now, with Concentration being the most notable improvement to it.

So, how do you get more Concentration? The truth is that there is no known method for getting more Concentration by your efforts. Concentration is finite as a resource but recharges over time on its own. There's no way to speed this up, thus limiting the value and rarity of high-budget items a crafter can make at any given time. While this may be disappointing to read, there are benefits to it overall from a community perspective.

Concentration Window in WoW: The War Within
Screenshot by Destructoid

As just mentioned, no single crafter can always make the best items (at least not easily), which results in professions staying relevant significantly longer throughout the lifespan of an expansion. Dragonflight succeeded in doing this with its RNG-based system, but crafting items never felt great entirely dictated by how lucky you are. This is why the Concentration System was introduced.

Concentration gives you, the crafter, more control over your actual crafts. You can determine when you want to throw all your efforts into an important craft without wasting time or resources. Since using the mechanic guarantees you the next rarity of a chosen item, you will always know what your output will be the moment you hit that 'craft' button.

Starting with WoW Dragonflight, crafting professions have played a much larger role in the gearing process, offering several unique benefits special to each one. If you're looking to reap these rewards, then here's where you can find all of the trainers in WoW's newest expansion, The War Within.

Where to find all Profession Trainers in WoW: The War Within

Whether you want to craft an awesome sword or brew flasks for your raiding team, there's a bit of something for everyone interested in the crafting arts in WoW: The War Within. Professions work similarly to how they did in Dragonflight, but with needed refinements to improve the expanded system. All profession trainers can be found within Dornogal, scattered around the Earthen city. Here are the coordinates for each for your ease of access.

  • Alchemy Trainer: /way 47, 71 (The Forgegrounds)
  • Blacksmithing Trainer: /way 49, 63 (The Forgegrounds)
  • Engineering Trainer: /way 49, 56 (The Forgegrounds)
  • Cooking Trainer: /way 44, 46 (Stonelight Rest)
  • Enchanting Trainer: /way 53, 71 (The Forgegrounds)
  • Jewelcrafting Trainer: /way 50, 71 (The Forgegrounds)
  • Fishing Trainer: /way 51, 27 (Keepers Terrance)
  • Herbalism Trainer: /way 45, 69 (The Forgegrounds)
  • Inscription Trainer: /way 49, 71 (The Forgegrounds)
  • Leatherworking Trainer: /way 55, 59 (The Forgegrounds)
  • Mining Trainer: /way 52, 52 (The Forgegrounds)
  • Skinning Trainer: /way 54, 56 (The Forgegrounds)
  • Tailoring Trainer: /way 55, 64 (The Foorgegrounds)

Each profession offers a unique crafting experience and plenty of useful goodies to make. All of them start fairly simplistic, but as you progress, you'll unlock the ability to specialize. I've been working on Alchemy as my main profession, and my experiments are focused almost entirely on producing potent flasks for my raid team any myself. Once you reach level 25 in any of the listed professions, you'll be allowed to mold it to your liking.

One last thing to note: If you decide a profession is not for you, you can unlearn it at any time, but be warned: you will lose all progress while doing so. If you decide to unlearn a profession and then relearn it again, you'll be forced to start from scratch.

The description of the Nerubian Pheromone Secreter in WoW: The War Within clearly states the trinket should function like any other proc-based trinket would. However, it probably states for you that 'Your spells and abilities have a chance to secret 0 different pheromones around you'. This may lead you to think it's bugged or not working, but actually, it just functions way differently than you'd expect.

To even obtain this trinket, you need to have reached Renown level 6 in The Severed Threads, but the key to making it work is actually in the sub-faction associated with The Severed Threads: the Weaver, General, and Vizier.

The pheromones the trinket talks about in its description refer to these three sub-leaders, and without enough Reputation, the trinket will cease to function. For this reason, it says '0' in the description. You need to be rank Acquaintance with one of these three sub-faction leaders for the trinket to work, and you'll get an additional pheromone proc for the trinket with each, capping out at three.

WoW: The War Within - Nerubian Pheromone Secreter Customization, explained

Going beyond the proc, the Nerubian Pheromone Secreter has no stats but has sockets for a special type of 'gem' called a Fragrance. These gems can only be placed within this trinket, and there is one type for every secondary stat.

  • Inscrutable Fragrance (Mastery) - Sold by Rej the Dying (/way 57, 36)
  • Robust Fragrance (Versatility) - Sold by "Eight-Shaker' Sallow (/way 54, 15)
  • Invigorating Fragrance (Haste) - Sold by Tej the Undying (/way 56, 34)
  • Volatile Fragrance (Critical Strike) - Sold by Venom Dahn (/55, 37)

All of these Fragrances cost 150 Kej each, which is the primary currency for spending in The City of Threads. Incidentally, make sure you use these waypoints within Azj-Kahet, City of Threads; otherwise, you'll be sent off somewhere else completely. Once you have the Fragrances you want to use, equip them like any other gem, and your trinket will now give you the stats you desire.

As you progress The Severed Threads, you'll be able to obtain higher, more powerful versions of the trinket to make use of. While I don't have the higher ranking one myself quite yet, considering its improved item level, it will certainly be worth switching to that one once you can.

If you’re one of the many players who carefully curate their character’s look, you might find it agitating when your stylish outfit is suddenly replaced by bulky profession gear the moment you start crafting.

Fortunately, Blizzard has provided a way to disable the automatic appearance change, allowing you to enjoy your transmog without interruption in WoW: The War Within—here’s how.

How to toggle off Profession Equipment in WoW: The War Within

When you do any sort of crafting-related activity, your profession equipment appearance is automatically enabled, which can be annoying if you like your transmog. To turn off the appearance of profession equipment coming on once you start making stuff, you have to toggle it off manually via an NPC, similar to previous expansions.

For The War Within, that NPC is named Mahra Treebender, located in Dornogal, the man hub. She can be found next to the Crafting Orders area in Dornogal, (/way 58.02 55.25), and she's pretty difficult to miss because she's a Tauren. She also has the title 'Profession Equipment Specialist', which is kind of its own giveaway, really.

Profession Equipment Toggles in WoW: The War Within
Screenshot by Destructoid

Mahra's entire purpose is to toggle on and off the appearance of your profession equipment, and to do so, start by talking to her. You'll be given three different options to toggle on/off your crafting, gathering, and fishing equipment. These are all separate, so make sure to toggle the ones you want off if you don't want to their gear appear. Personally, I like my Windwalker's transmog, so I've turned all of the options off in favor of it. You can also turn them back on at any time at Mahra.

Once you've done this, no longer will profession equipment plague your appearance.

On occasion, WoW has some of the most infuriating quests it wants you to do, and "Home is Where the Candle Is" is one of them. Going to the designated location to find Janky, in the quest, will yield nothing, so where exactly is he?

How to Find Janky for Home is Where the Candle is In WoW: The War Within

Following the quest marker will lead you directly outside of Cinderbrew Meadery, with no Janky in sight. Turns out, Janky isn't actually at the quest waypoint the quest itself tells you to go to. Instead, Janky, along with Fourman Grimes, can be found in Gundargaz, The Ringing Deeps (/waypoint 48, 35), standing next to each other inside the building you kicked coal into earlier.

Janky and Grimes in Ringed Deeps (WoW: The War Within)

Why the quest marker points to a location in the Isle of Dorm is beyond me. Even so, depending on where you are in the quest line, Janky and Fourman Grimes will potentially have another set of quests for you to accept, but at least you now know where they're hiding out. Ironically, once you've accepted Janky's quest, the original quest marker from Home Is Where the Candle Is, becomes accurate. Who knew?

These quests, along with Home is Where the Candle Is, are part of a very lengthy quest chain that I haven't even finished myself yet. They involve helping both NPCs and completion will eventually lead to the conclusion of the Home Is Where the Candle Is. With this knowledge, Janky will hide from you no longer, so at least you can now focus on the quests themselves.

If you're planning to level up your Alchemy in WoW: The War Within, then you're going to need a whole bunch of Coreway Catalyst for experiments. If you're new to the profession, then it's not exactly clear how you get the reagent, so here's everything you need to know.

Where to get Coreway Catalyst in WoW: The War Within

At the release of WoW: The War Within, there are two ways to obtain Coreway Catalyst, though one is off-limits to you if you're just starting out.

The first and primary method of obtaining it is by breaking down solutions you've already made or collected using the Neutralize Concoctions option in your Alchemy recipe list. Going this route will turn whatever alchemical creations you use as reagents into Coreway Catalyst for further experimentation. You'll need a lot of them for this process, so this is by far the most common way to get them.

Perform Alchemy in WoW: The War Within

Alternatively, you can also specialize in the Thaumaturgy Alchemy tree and craft them yourself. With this method, once you've invested at least 15 points into the remaining Thaumaturgy tree, you'll have a chance to create Coreway Catalyst via any Thaumaturgy you attempt, including transmutation. Since this requires 15 points invested into the Thaumatugry tree, you won't be able to jump into Alchemy using this method. This one is for those who've already been working on the profession and are looking for other ways to obtain Coreway Catalyst.

Eventually, you'll have so many Coreway Catalysts that you won't know what to do with them all. In the meantime, though, these are the best ways to obtain the reagent without too much effort.

WoW: The War Within 70-80 Leveling Guide https://www.destructoid.com/wow-the-war-within-70-80-leveling-guide/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=wow-the-war-within-70-80-leveling-guide https://www.destructoid.com/wow-the-war-within-70-80-leveling-guide/#respond Fri, 23 Aug 2024 20:51:16 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=584182 The Ringing Deeps in WoW: The War Within

Leveling up in WoW: The War Within is a moderately slow task, but there are ways you can dramatically speed up the process if you're not interested in questing to the new level 80 cap. Here's a fast method of leveling from 70-80 in The War Within.

How to reach level 80 fast in WoW: The War Within

It remains to be seen if this will get changed or outright nerfed by Blizzard, but the fast way to level from 70-80 in The War Within is actually just spamming Normal Dungeons back-to-back in the Dungeon Finder tool. Yes, that's it. Running dungeons gives you the largest amount of experience per hour, far exceeding any quest-specific leveling methods.

The early dungeons in The War Within are super easy on Normal and can completed extremely quickly. The Rookery, specifically, is one of the fastest dungeons I've ever seen introduced into World of Warcraft, and I've been playing since its inception. It is the first dungeon in The War Within, containing three bosses and a decent amount of trash mobs, but none require any special attention. All of the refuse can be AoE'd down together (the bosses included). It wouldn't be a stretch to say it can be completed within five minutes or less if you have a fantastic group.

The Ringing Deeps in WoW: The War Within
Screenshot by Destructoid

That said, this method is by far the fastest to use, but if you're not a tank or healer, you may find yourself waiting around a bit. This is the same story WoW has always had to deal with. Everyone wants to play DPS, and significantly fewer want to play Tank or Heals. So, queuing as a Healer or Tank, if your class can, will be considerably faster than not. If your goal is to hit level 80 as soon as possible, you'll need to not be playing as a DPS for maximum efficiency. I am a Windwalker Monk player, but I tanked my way to 80 in under five hours, thanks to never having to wait for a dungeon group to come together.

What are the caveats?

The only caveat to this method is that you still need to complete The War Within campaign to unlock Adventure Mode for faster gearing and campaign skip for your alt characters. Being level 80 can make this process more of a slog because you have nothing to look forward to while doing it. But, if this doesn't bother you, feel free to use this method for speed leveling on your main and alts.

In WoW: The War Within, Brax, the Innkeeper of Gundargaz, The Ringing Deeps, has lost his trusty pair of Brass Knuckles and tasks you to retrieve them. The only problem is, the area where he wants you to search is huge, so here's exactly where you can find them.

Where is Brax's Brass Knuckles in WoW: The War Within?

Despite the enormous search area, Brax's Brass Knuckles aren't as difficult to find as the quest makes them appear. When I first looked at the map, I assumed it would be a small, interactable object hidden somewhere in the vast quest area that I'd need to keep an eye out for. Turns out, it's nothing like that. Brax's Brass Knuckles were picked up by one of the various fungal lifeforms roaming The Ringing Deeps. This quest is a 'kill and loot' quest in disguise, as all you need to do to actually find his knuckles is slay a whole bunch of them.

Looting Brax's Knuckles in WoW: The War Within

Specifically, the enemies you want to look for are all plant life in The Ringing Deeps. The ones you want to keep a look out for are the following:

  • Underdrip Crwaler
  • Crawler Sproutling
  • Disturbed Kelp
  • Disrupted Slime
  • Sweetnuffler
  • Creeping Lashroom

All these beasts can be found roaming the questing area, and defeating them gives you a good chance of finding Brax's Brass Knuckles on their corpse. From my experience, the drop rate seems fairly high—you’re likely to get them within 10 kills. Once you’ve acquired the knuckles, you'll still need to complete the second part of Brax's quest to turn them in, but this should help you get past the most unpredictable step of the process.

With Hero Talents being one of WoW: The War Within's main features, it's natural to want to unlock them as soon as possible. If you're jumping into new expansion now, here's everything you need to know about the process.

How to get Hero Talents in WoW: The War Within

When you enter the game with the expansion enabled, if open your Talent Tree, you'll see a third new tree in the middle of the screen. These are your Hero Talents, but they are locked until you meet two key conditions, neither of which are difficult to achieve.

To unlock them, make sure you have The War Within purchased and have begun the new campaign questline. The campaign takes you to the ancient lands of Khaz Algar, and you're required to go there to unlock your Hero Talent tree.

After that, all you need to do is reach level 71, and the new talents will automatically unlock. Simply questing in The War Within should provide more than enough experience to get you there. As you level up from 70 to 80, you’ll earn one Hero Talent point per level, which can only be used on the Hero Talent tree of your choice.

Unlike previous new systems in WoW, there’s no additional questline, trigger, or condition needed to unlock these talents, which is a bit surprising. Still, by following these two straightforward steps, you’ll be able to fully enjoy the new Hero Talents. Like normal talents, Hero Talents can be respecced free of charge, so feel free to play around with and experiment with your class's new powers.

Black Myth: Wukong – Best Farm Locations https://www.destructoid.com/black-myth-wukong-best-farm-locations/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=black-myth-wukong-best-farm-locations https://www.destructoid.com/black-myth-wukong-best-farm-locations/#respond Wed, 21 Aug 2024 21:01:47 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=582611 Combat in Black Myth: Wukong

Even though Black Myth: Wukong is technically not a Souls-like title, it certainly has a lot of the DNA of one, including the ability to farm respawning enemies for experience points. If this sounds like something up your alley, here are some of the best farm locations in the game.

Best experience farms in Black Myth: Wukong

So, what makes a good farm spot is a location near a rest point shrine surrounded by enemies that yield a decent amount of experience when killed, and are easy to kill efficiently. These aspects increase your experience gain per hour (if you're going that long), which means easy experience for earning Sparks.

In my time in Black Myth: Wukong, I've favored two particularly effective experience farm locations that I think you'll find as helpful as I have. The first makes its home at the Windrest Bridge shrine in Chapter 2 (Yellow Wind Ridge). This location, as the name implies, is home to a large bridge with a shield-bearing Yaoguai sitting in the middle. At his side, are two weak ranged enemies.

Windrest Bridge farm in Black Myth: Wukong
Screenshot by Destructoid

The idea for this farm is to kill all three mobs, then rest at the shrine to respawn and repeat the process. This will earn you roughly 355 XP (Experience) per run, which is solid for the amount of time it takes to kill these mobs. That is roughly 1/6 of a Spark, which is efficient for a farm. I highly recommend you pop all of your cooldowns every time you do a run to make this process efficient.

The second effective farm location I've found is right in front of the Windrest Hamlet shrine in Chapter 2. Like the Windrest Bridge, this one also features a bridge with the same shield enemy patrolling up and down it. The key difference with this farm location is that the distance to this shield mob is much closer to the shrine, allowing you to kill it more quickly and reset.

Windrest Hamlet farm in Black Myth: Wukong
Screenshot by Destructoid

This shield enemy is surrounded by two zombies, which yield the same experience as the ranged enemies from Windrest Bridge. By all metrics, this farm location is better than the previously mentioned as it yields the same total amount of experience, and is even closer to the shrine. The only downside is that it is quite a bit further into Chapter 2 than the Windrest Bridge, so you'll need to progress a bit to reach this one.

I will continuously update this guide with more high-quality farm locations, for your experience-earning pleasure. So, check back regularly to see what's newly added.

Black Myth: Wukong – Focus Points, explained https://www.destructoid.com/black-myth-wukong-focus-points-explained/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=black-myth-wukong-focus-points-explained https://www.destructoid.com/black-myth-wukong-focus-points-explained/#respond Wed, 21 Aug 2024 18:06:35 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=582525 Combat in Black Myth: Wukong

Focus Points are an integral part of combat in Black Myth: Wukong, to the point that not being aware of them means almost certain failure later in the game. If you're not sure how they work, here's a guide explaining to them in detail, and why you should be using them often.

What are Focus Points in Black Myth: Wukong?

Focus Points are a unique, combat-orientated resource that allows you to use powerful staff attacks to overwhelm your foes. Your most potent abilities, outside of spells, in Black Myth: Wukong will come from expending Focus Points, so it is imperative to understand how they work.

Focus Points are earned by dealing damage with staff attacks, charging up your Heavy Attack, and perfectly dodging enemy attacks. You can see the resource fill at the bottom-right portion of your UI. They look like little white orbs when filled and blank orbs when not. Focus Point orbs earned by dealing damage and dodging attacks will remain filled until you use them. However, Focus Point orbs filled by charging your Heavy Attack will disappear once you've released the charge.

Focus Points in Black Myth: Wukong

The amount of these Focus Point orbs you have is determined by how many Sparks you've spent in the Staff Stances tree. You can have a grand of total four Focus Point orbs once you've spent 20 Sparks in the tree. Just make sure you take the nodes named Focused Attack in the tree, to ensure you get the orbs unlocked.

Focused Attack in Black Myth: Wukong
Screenshot by Destructoid

Focus Point orbs are essential for either enhancing staff attacks or enabling specific moves. Certain staff attacks require a Focus Point orb to activate, while others can be used without one. However, by holding down Heavy Attack, you can charge some of these moves with a Focus Point orb for added power and poise damage. Some staff skills yield special effects when using Focus Points, like Pillar Stance, which allows you to perch higher on the staff with more Focus Points used.

Pillar Stance in Black Myth: Wukong
Screenshot by Destructoid

Another crucial aspect of Focus Points is the risk involved in using them during combat. While they are a valuable resource for enhancing your attacks, misusing them can lead to serious consequences. If you activate a Focus Point move or charge one up using Heavy Attack, and your poise is broken in the process, you’ll lose all the Focus Points you’ve accumulated or attempted to use. Focus Point attacks are high risk, high reward, so it’s vital to time them carefully. Otherwise, you risk weakening yourself significantly in battle.

When finishing Chapter One of Black Myth: Wukong, you're given the Craving Eyes relic, and a choice to pick between three permanent buffs for your character. If you're wondering which of the three you should choose, then you've come to the right place.

Which buff should you choose for Craving Eyes in Black Myth: Wukong?

To add a little clarity, you're given this choice right after completing Chapter 1, just after the cutscene. The relic you obtained from defeating the Black Wind is Craving Eyes, and it comes with three character-defining benefits that can significantly impact your build.

  • Opportune Watcher - Increased Focus gain after consecutive successful Light Attacks
  • Eagle Eye - Unveiled Strike has a massively reduced cooldown if it lands
  • Keen Insight - Massive increase to your Critical Hit Damage

All three choices are incredibly impactful, and it's easy to under why it's such a hard choice. However, based on my experience with RPGs, and Black Myth: Wukong in general, I recommend running Opportune Watcher over all the other two. The reason is simple: Consistency.

Sparks in Black Myth: Wukong
Screenshot by Destructoid

Eagle Eye, while strong, has the significant drawback of having a Mana cost in order to use the ability. This means, that after enough uses, you won't be able to use Unveiled Strike again unless you rest at a Shrine. This is rather lackluster and about as far from consistent as possible.

Keen Insight, on the other hand, provides a big boost to your CRIT DMG, which is very strong, but only if you have the CRIT chance to make use of it. Without enough CRIT, this upgrade hardly does anything. It, also, is not consistant.

Finally, we come to Opportune Watcher, an upgrade that gives you a constant supply of Focus Points to work with, all at the cost of simply attacking the enemy. I recommend it because there are no other activation requirements, and it is always active. It allows you to use your Heavy Attack combos more often, which means more damage.

Can you respect Craving Eyes in Black Myth: Wukong?

At present, there’s no way to respec Craving Eyes, so whichever path you choose will be permanent for now. Thankfully, each option offers unique strengths, so no matter which direction you take, you'll be well-equipped for the challenges ahead. While there's no respec feature yet, it’s possible this could change with future updates. I'll keep you informed as more information becomes available.

How to cure poison in Black Myth: Wukong https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-cure-poison-in-black-myth-wukong/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=how-to-cure-poison-in-black-myth-wukong https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-cure-poison-in-black-myth-wukong/#respond Wed, 21 Aug 2024 13:04:49 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=581787 Running through Yellow Ridge in Black Myth Wukong

Poison is a devastating status effect in Black Myth: Wukong that can completely end your run if not treated promptly. Thankfully, there is a relatively easy way to deal with it, though it's not exactly free.

How to heal Poison in Black Myth: Wukong

The simplest way to deal with the Poison status and its build-up is to consume Antimiasma Powder. This is medicine that you can craft in Black Myth: Wukong, through any shrine location you can Rest at. The powder is a one-time use, as expected, but you can craft it as needed so long as you have the required materials.

In order to craft Antmiasma Powder, you need one Tree Pearl and one Jade Lotus. Both of these materials are of the Uncommon rarity (Green), meaning they can be found just by exploring the world of Black Myth: Wukong. Chances are, if you're reading this guide, you probably already have a decent amount of both materials. If you don't, though, here's where you can find them both.

  • Jade Lotus - Found in Black Wind Mountain and Yellow Wind Ridge regions
  • Tree Pearl - Found in Pagoda Realm region

Anti-poison powder in Black Myth: Wukong
Screenshot by Destructoid

While there may be other spots in Black Myth: Wukong where these materials can be found, these two locations are the most reliable for gathering both, ensuring you can craft the Antimiasma Powder needed to fend off poison death. Each full craft yields a single Antimiasma Powder, so it's wise to collect a healthy amount of these materials for regular use.

Antimiasma Powder can also randomly be found while you're exploring, but don't expect to be a common pick-up by any means, despite its rarity appearance (Green). Just treat it like a lucky break if you happen upon one. In most cases, you'll simply have to craft Antimiasma Powder if you're looking to cure any poison effects on yourself.

How to prevent the Poisoned status effect in Black Myth: Wukong

Of course, the best way to prevent being Poisoned altogether is to ensure you're wearing Poison Resistance gear when facing poisonous foes. The Serpentscale Bracers, for example, have some Poison Resistance on them as a stat, which can save you from being Poisoned.

Guangmou Spirit in Black Myth Wukong
Screenshot by Destructoid

Additionally, Spirits like Guangmou dramatically boost your resistance to Poison, which can be a total lifesaver when you least expect it. Upgrading Guangmou also boosts your ability to inflict the Poisoned status on enemies through cost reductions, which can fit well with a build focused around that damage type—a double whammy.

What is Resolute Counterflow in Black Myth: Wukong? https://www.destructoid.com/what-is-resolute-counterflow-in-black-myth-wukong/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=what-is-resolute-counterflow-in-black-myth-wukong https://www.destructoid.com/what-is-resolute-counterflow-in-black-myth-wukong/#respond Wed, 21 Aug 2024 13:04:03 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=581721 Resolute Counteflow in the ability screen for Black Myth: Wukong

Resolute Counterflow is an extremely helpful and core mechanic in Black Myth: Wukong, but the description given in-game makes it a little confusing to understand. It took me a moment of trial and error to pick up the move, so allow me to save you a little time and explain how it works, so you can perform it as needed.

How to use Resolute Counterflow in Black Myth: Wukong

First, Resolute Counterflow's entire purpose is to give you an out during your attack string. Enemies get really aggressive later on in Black Myth: Wukong, and sometimes simply dodging the incoming attack is not enough.

To use Resolute Counterflow, you first need to gather enough Focus Points, as the move requires you to have at least one. When you have one, to perform the move, you first need to begin your Light Attack string. In the middle of it, pressing Heavy Attack will allow you to perform Resolute Counterflow, which looks like a downward strike. The move interrupts everything you were doing prior, effectively making it a cancel move; a benefit in a pinch.

More importantly, the 'counter' part of Resolute Counterflow comes from perfectly timing the activation of the move with an attack that would otherwise hit and deal damage to you. This results in a significantly more powerful attack that will deal more damage and inflict more poise damage on the enemy. You'll know if you did it right when your character is glowing red during the attack animation.

Resolute Counterflow, enhanced counter in Black Myth: Wuking

A successful Resolute Counterflow counter prevents you from taking damage from the attack you countered and any attacks that would normally land during the animation. This move is especially useful during boss fights, as many of Black Myth: Wukong's bosses have long attack strings, making it difficult to get hits in without it.

Best early game stats in Black Myth: Wukong https://www.destructoid.com/best-early-game-stats-black-myth-wukong/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=best-early-game-stats-black-myth-wukong https://www.destructoid.com/best-early-game-stats-black-myth-wukong/#respond Tue, 20 Aug 2024 20:52:33 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=581630 Act 2 - Black Myth Wukong

While Black Myth: Wukong may not be a traditional Souls-like, it shares enough challenging elements—such as its demanding difficulty level—that choosing your early stats and talents wisely is crucial for a smoother experience.

If you need a little guidance on which stats to take starting out, here's everything you need to know about early game stats and talents in Black Myth Wukong.

Best Early Game Talents in Black Myth: Wukong

There are many interesting abilities and talents you can invest in early in Black Myth: Wukong, and you might be interested in doing so because of that. However, Black Myth: Wukong is a fairly difficult game and it really doesn't pull its punches the further you progress. To that end, the most important stats you should take are the ones that boost your survivability and ability to evade enemy attacks. Health, stamina, and evasion are what your early points should be focused upon, not damage.

With your first six points, I highly recommend investing in the Robust Constitution talent under the Foundation-Survivial tree. That talent boosts your health by a decent margin and will allow you more room for error. More room for error means more options to adapt.

After that, I recommend going for Deft Evasion in the Foundation-Stamina tree. This talent considerably improves your ability to avoid enemy attacks, allowing you to cancel your early Light attack combo into a seamless dodge. This is important because, later on, you won't be able to just sit there and Light attack enemies to death.

Screenshot by Destructoid

Under the same tree, you should invest at least one point into Simian Agility, Endurance, and Everlasting Vigor. These talents enhance your mobility, but the primary reason to invest in them is that they are prerequisites for unlocking Composure. This talent allows you to continue your Light attack combo string even if you dodge during it. You can be far more aggressive when attacking because you no longer need to be concerned about breaking your attack chain.

The last early-game Talent you should consider taking is Exhilaration, under the Staff Stances tree. This talent improves your Health recovery when consuming a Focus Point, which makes it a great way to heal without using a charge of your Gourd. This doubles as a benefit, as taking at least three points in this tree earns you a second Focus Point.

While many of these Talents are not the most interesting and are largely passive, it's important to get the survivability concerns out of the way so that you can actively take the more 'fun' Talents and stats without concern of dying all the time. Hopefully, this helps your adventure in Black Myth: Wukong.

Wuthering Waves – By Moon’s Grace Complete Event Guide https://www.destructoid.com/wuthering-waves-by-moons-grace-complete-event-guide/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=wuthering-waves-by-moons-grace-complete-event-guide https://www.destructoid.com/wuthering-waves-by-moons-grace-complete-event-guide/#respond Mon, 19 Aug 2024 21:41:20 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=580920 Moon Chasing Festival in Wuthering Waves

The By Moon's Grace event is the primary activity in Wuthering Waves version 1.2, and while it may seem like a to of busy work, its actually pretty easy to progress if you know what you're doing. Here's everything you need to know about it.

How to do the By Moon's Grace event in Wuthering Waves

By Moon's Grace is sort of a management game that you're guaranteed to finish before the end of the event, if you just play the game. However, if you'd like to earn the rewards considerably after the 40 days you're given, you need to first increase your Popularity.

Popularity is the primary metric used to determine your progress during the event, and it is earned by fulfilling the Lodge Wishes of the people at the Moon-Chasing Festival shrine, centered around the event.

Before I get into the details of that though, you need to understand the currencies you need to work with, to make this all happen.

  • Preparation Credits - This the main resource you need to carefully manage, as you can run out of them quickly if you're just proceeding blindly. This currency is by picking it up from the By Moon's Grace Lodge and is automatically restored to 100 daily, during the event. Preparation Credits are used to fulfill wishes, as each wish requires a specific amount of these credits to begin.
  • Operation Fund - In order to increase your Popularity, you need to build and upgrade Fair Stalls using Operation Funds. Just think of this like your main currency during the event. Operation Funds are earned by completing Lodge Wishes. The more difficult the wish, the more Operation Funds you'll earn, if you succeed.
  • Wish - The final currency, Wishes are solely used to upgrade the stats of the companions you've invited to aid you in the event. I'll get into specific about this later, but just know that you'll be using a lot of these throughout the event. Wishes are earned by completing Lodge Wishes.

These three currencies are integral to progressing through the By Moon's Grace event. Mismanagement of them can slow down your progression considerably, so you must carefully informed decisions before using them. Now, let's talk about how you actually go about fulfilling a Lodge Wish.

How to complete Lodge Wishes in Wuthering Waves

Lodge Wishes are the primary activity you'll be doing throughout the By Moon's Grace event. To access them, head to the Moon-Chasing Festival shrine, and interact with it. You'll be greeted with the Fair Stalls screen. From here choose Lodge Wishes at the bottom right portion of the screen to get started.

At the Lodge Wishes screen, you'll be greeted with one to four potential wishes you can participate in, depending on your current progress. Each Lodge Wish requires you to use a certain number of Preparation Credits to begin. If you don't have this slated amount, you won't be able to attempt it. The value below them is the base Operation Funds you'll earn by completing the Lodge Wish.

If you already have the Preparation Credits to start a Lodge Wish, simply click or tap it, and you'll be taken to the Companions screen for the final step. Companion are characters that have decided to help you fulfill wishes during the event. They are earned by completing their event-specific quest, which you gain access to as you increase your Popularity. Completion of these quest earns you the right to use said character during a Lodge Wish.

Both Lodge Wishes and Companions have three specific stats you need to keep in mind.

  • Knowledge
  • Action
  • Teamwork

These stats don't have any specific meaning beyond their names, so don't worry about any extra functionality. What's important for you to know about them is that Lodge Wishes require specific stats to complete, and Companions have differing values of these three stats. Lodge Wishes will always have at least one Recommended stat they favor and that you should prioritize.

The 'Flavors of the Past' Lodge Wish recommends Action as its stat, which means you want to use Companions that also favor Action. In each Lodge Wish, you can use up to three Companions at the same time, so if you use three Companions that favor Action, you are much more likely to fulfil the Lodge Wish successfully.

Companion Upgrade in Wuthering Waves
Screenshot by Destructoid

Advanced Lodge Wishes will require Companions with advanced stats, so you'll need to use the Wish currency I mentioned earlier to upgrade your Companions. The more Wish you invest, the greater the upgrade. Each Companion's favored stat will always be the one that's naturally highest for them, and upgrading them will primarily boost this stat. You'll want to have two or three companions upgraded for each stat, to progress through the event quickly. Finally, each Companion caps out at Bond level 10, and attempts to upgrade past this point will be a waste of your Wish currency.

How upgrade Fair Stalls in Wuthering Waves

Once you've completed enough Lodge Wishes, you'll have enough Operation Funds to either build or upgrade a Fair Stall. Fair Stalls are where most of your Popularity will come from, so you'll need to make you're doing this. This process to begun from the Fair Stall screen, reached by interacting with the Moon-Chasing Festival shrine and pressing Fair Stalls at the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

Moon Chase Stalls in Wuthering Waves
Screenshot by Destructoid

From here, you'll have access to all of the potential Fair Stall you can build. Clicking on one will show you the Operation Fund requirement you need to meet to build or upgrade it. When you have enough, simply click Build or Upgrade at the bottom of your screen.

While all Fair Stalls give you increasing Popularity as you upgrade them, they also provide your secondary bonuses rewards attached to the Lodge Wishes activity. For example, building the Moon Shooter stall will also increase your Bonus Wish Tags, with the amount increase improving per level (up to five). This makes the Lodge Wishes process a bit easier. Every Stall provide some sort of bonus like this, so you can much more easily complete Lodge Wishes.

You now have a clear understanding of By Moon's Grace event gameplay loop, but what do you earn for doing all of this?

All By Moon's Grace event Rewards in Wuthering Waves

All of the tasks that you participate in during this event will allow you to claim one additional currency called Palace Lanterns. Unlike the other currencies already mention, Palace Lanterns are used solely for getting the rewards from this event. You can exchange them by heading to the Moon-Chasing Festival Shrine and choosing the Moonlit Offerings tab at the bottom left portion of the screen.

If you've been progressing the event at all, then chances are you have a bunch of Palace Lanterns to claim. Claim all of these, then click the Exchange button on the screen to see all the rewards for this event. There are a ton of rewards to earn from the event.

  • 780x Asterite
  • 20x Premium Resonance Potions
  • 20x Premium Sealed Tubes
  • 20x Premium Tuners
  • 15x Premium Energy Cores

The above are the most significant rewards from the event, but that isn't all. There are also numerous character/weapon resources, Shell Credits, food crafting materials, and Echoes that can additional be obtained by exchanging Palace Lanterns. You will earn enough Palace Lanterns to get everything from the event, so don't worry about running out.

Best Zhezhi build in Wuthering Waves – Weapons, Echoes, and Team Compositions https://www.destructoid.com/best-zhezhi-build-in-wuthering-waves-weapons-echoes-and-team-compositions/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=best-zhezhi-build-in-wuthering-waves-weapons-echoes-and-team-compositions https://www.destructoid.com/best-zhezhi-build-in-wuthering-waves-weapons-echoes-and-team-compositions/#respond Fri, 16 Aug 2024 21:23:16 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=578636 Zhezhi

Wuthering Waves1.2 introduces a slew of new content, including the new five-star Resonator, Zhezhi, to pull for. If you're interested in pulling her, or you already have and are trying to build her up, here's a useful guide to help you build Zhezhi.

Best Zhezhi Build in Withering Waves

Zhezhi is a Glacio character with a stark focus on dealing out Basic Attacks, both on-field and off, to deal her damage. She plays the role of a Sub-DPS due to her extraordinarily powerful Outro skill buffs, fast Concerto rotation, and consistent off-field damage thanks to her Ultimate.

Much like other characters in Wuthering Waves, Zhezhi's skill descriptions are very convoluted and difficult to understand, but her actual gameplay isn't nearly so daunting. Her core gameplay mechanic revolves around her Forte Circuit, Ink and Wash, which allows her to summon Phantasmic Imprints onto the field when her Heavy Attack or Skill is used, provided there is enough Affaltus, her Forte Circuit resource. Affaltus is built by simply attacking enemies with Basic or Intro Attacks, and she can hold 90 Affaltus in total.

Zhezhi's Forte Ability

Casting Heavy Attack after the third attack in her Basic Attack String or while mid-air with at least 30 Affaltus will summon a Phantasmic Imprint - Middle onto the field. Casting her Skill with 60 Affaltus will summon Phantasmic Imprint - Left and Phantasmic Imprint - Right, allowing you access to all three Imprints when using both methods of summoning. Now, when Zhezhi has at least one Imprint on the field, using her Skill will allow her to teleport to the closest Imprint and deal big damage that counts as Basic Attack Damage.

While on-field, Zhezhi does most of her damage by teleporting to her Imprints and following them up with a Basic Attack, so this is the core of what you want to be doing while she is there. Due to the nature of teleportation, Zhezhi is extremely mobile, which gives her a big advantage against many of the hardest enemies in Wuthering Waves.

Her off-field damage comes purely from her Ultimate, Living Canvas, which summons a massive circle in the sky that causes Inklit Spirits to crash down onto foes below. This lasts a walloping 30 seconds or until 21 Inklit Spirits are invoked. Attacks from her Ultimate are considered Coordinated Attacks, which is important to keep note of when building her team comp. More on that soon.

That was a lot, but I promise her gameplay sounds more complicated than it is to execute. Let's talk about her to actually build her now.

Best Echoes for Zhezhi

Thanks to her Sub-DPS nature, you have two main options when it comes to Echoes. The set I'd recommend most is 4-piece Moonlit Clouds, as it enables her to buff her next teammate with 22% extra ATK (Attack) when swapped with max Concerto. The set also gives Zhezhi 10% extra Energy Regen, which is a nice bonus for keeping her Ultimate active.

Zhezhi's best Echoes

If you favor her doing more damage than supporting, you can also run 4-piece Freezing Frost, which is, personally, my preferred set since I already have a few Moonlit Cloud users on my account. Freezing Frost will considerably boost her personal damage since it grants her a massive 30% ATK buff, pretty much permanently.

For her active Echo, I recommend using Lampylumen Myriad as it simply does massive damage on its own while buffing Zhezhi's Glacio damage as well.

Best Team Comps for Zhezhi

Since Zhezhi is a sub-DPS, her role is to help the team dish out as much as possible alongside your main DPS without getting in the way of their required field time. It is possible to have 100% uptime on Zhezhi's Ultimate, and she has a very quick Concerto rotation. Both of these aspects pair very nicely with her best teammates, Jinhsi and Verina. She also has direct synergy with Sanhau, if you can fit her into a team comp, but I don't recommend doing so if you're planning to use Zhezhi in her dedicated sub-DPS role.

Zhezhi's team comp

Jinhsi is Zhezhi's best partner as she provides Jinhsi with everything needed for her to completely destroy her foes. Zhezhi's Ultimate rechanges Jinhsi Forte very fast, which is huge for synergy with her. On top of that, thanks to her fast Concerto charge, Zhezhi allows Jinhsi to use her Intro more often, allowing Jinhsi to go into her big damage rotation more often. More so, Zhezhi's Inherent Skill, Flourish, allows her to charge Jinhsi's Ultimate every time she swaps into her. The two characters are made for each other, and should absolutely be used on the same team.

Verina is the overworked support that buffs everyone in Wuthering Waves, and Zhezhi is no exception. Both Verina and Zhezhi have fast Concerto rotations, which means they can both activate the powerful buff effects of their Intro skills very consistently and easily. Both also have Coordinated Attacks, making them ideal for playing with Jinhsi.

Sanhau has the fastest Concerto rotation in Wuthering Waves and, additionally, buffs Basic Attack Damage when she swaps while full. This is entirely a benefit to Zhezhi because all of her damage is considered Basic Attack Damage. Zhezhi buffs Skill and Glacio Damage when she swaps with a full Concerto, which is a massive buff to Sanhau's damage. The issue with playing them together is that they both are sub-DPS. However, they still function quite well as a team with Zhezhi playing main DPS (she has the damage to do so), should you decide to use them together.

Best Weapons for Zhezhi

Zhezhi has three strong options for weapons she can use. The first is her signature weapon, Rime-Drapped Sprouts, which massively buffs her Basic Attack Damage. It also comes with a mind-blowing amount of CIRT DMG as a sub-stat.

Zhezhi's weapon

Her second-best weapon is Yinlin's signature, Stringmaster. Stingmaster is an extremely potent stat-stick for Zhezhi, thanks to its high CRIT RATE sub stat and general ATK buffs.

The last recommended weapon for Zhezhi is the standard Cosmic Ripples, which provides her with a large boost to her Basic Attack Damage as well, though not nearly as potent as Rime-Drapped Sprouts. Cosmic Ripples also has an ATK% sub-stat. While this isn't bad, as ATK% does have a lot of value in Wuthering Waves, it does not equate to Rime-Drapped Sprout's CRIT DMG or Stringmaster's CRIT RATE sub-stats.

Best Sequences for Zhezhi in Wuthering Waves

Zhezhi's Sequences mostly provide her with raw DMG and ATK% buffs that will certainly boost her power. However, at S0 (Sequence 0), Zhezhi is more than powerful enough to deal with anything in Wuthering Waves. Still, if you fancy yourself a few of her Sequences, allow me to summarize them for you, for your info.

Zhezhi's Sequences

  • Brushwork's Finish (S1) - When Zhezhi uses her Skill while she has two stacks of Painter's Delight, she restores 15 Resonance Energy and gives her 10% CRIT for 27 seconds. This S1 removes any potential need for Energy Rechange on Zhezhi, as with it, she can fund her own Ultimate easily. Her Skill has a very short cooldown, which makes this S1 a strong stopping point. Extra CRIT makes building her that much easier.
  • Vivid Strokes (S2) - Adds six more Inklit Spirits to Zhezhi's Ultimate, Living Canvas. This is a nice bit of extra damage, but far from powerful enough to be worth investing in, especially for an S2. Meh.
  • Reflection's Grace (S3) - When Zhezhi uses any version of her Skill, she gains 15% ATK for 27 seconds, stacking up three times. In short, Zhezhi gets 45% ATK at all times, effectively. This is a significant boost to her performance and is worth going for if you're already at S2.
  • Hue's Spectrum (S4) - Zhezhi gives her entire team 20% ATK for 30 seconds after using her Ultimate. This is a large buff to her whole team (including herself), all by casting her Ultimate, which you will always be able to use thanks to her S1. This Sequence is a lot more powerful than it appears. It's a permanent 20% ATK buff.
  • Composition's Clue (S5) - Every three Inklit Spirits summoned by her Ultimate will cause a fourth empowered Inklit Spirit to spawn, dealing 140% of a standard Inklit Spirit's damage. This dramatically boosts the potency of Zhezhi's Ultimate.
  • Infinite Legacy (S6) - When Zhezhi uses any version of her enhanced Skill (Stroke of Genius or Creation's Zenith), it will cause an Ivory Herald to spawn and deal 120% of her Skill's normal damage as a bonus. Because Zhezhi uses her Skill so often, this is a ridiculous boost to her overall damage while she is on-field. It is fitting for a S6.

Is there multiplayer in Black Myth: Wukong? https://www.destructoid.com/is-there-multiplayer-in-black-myth-wukong/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=is-there-multiplayer-in-black-myth-wukong https://www.destructoid.com/is-there-multiplayer-in-black-myth-wukong/#respond Fri, 16 Aug 2024 20:35:03 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=579489 Black Myth Wukong - Nimbus Cloud

Since Black Myth: Wukong is similar to other Soulslike games, at least on the surface, it's not at all strange to be curious if it has multiplayer as a feature. The challenging combat and intricate boss battles seem well-suited for cooperative or competitive play, but is it actually present here?

Can you play Co-op Multiplayer in Black Myth: Wukong?

There is currently no co-op or multiplayer feature in Black Myth: Wukong, and it is very likely to remain the case at release and into the future.

Despite being commonly compared to Souls titles (games that do typically have multiplayer, and a semi-open world, not always though), Black Myth: Wukong is not strictly pursuing that style. While the thought of having two transforming, spirit-throwing Sun Wukongs on screen at the same time sounds interesting, the game seems designed solely as a single-player experience.

Sun Wukong - Black Myth Wukong
Image via Game Science

Black Myth: Wukong is based on and inspired by the classical Chinese adventure novel Journey to the West, and while there are plenty of characters in the story that could potentially make a co-op experience work, I have no doubt it would be a very tricky endeavor to pull off successfully. The story itself is extremely long, and characters come and go throughout the adventure on a consistent basis.

Adding a co-op mode to the game would require careful consideration of character balance and narrative cohesion. The game's primary focus is on the singular journey of Sun Wukong, and introducing multiple playable characters could risk diluting the depth of his story. However, if done right, it could offer a fresh way to experience the tale, allowing players to explore different perspectives and abilities while maintaining the integrity of the original narrative. Alas, this is not to be in Black Myth: Wukong.
